1. 2nd trip to Egypt and Saudi Arabia, 1st to Israel
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (02.05.13)
Since Obama was first elected this will be his 2nd trip to Egypt and 2nd trip to Saudi Arabia. But only his 1st trip to Israel. On his 1st trip to Egypt he made a big speech that cost the USA and Israel support in the world. On his 1st trip to Saudi Arabia he bowed to the Saudi King. Sure shows his strong commitment to Israel.
2. Brace yourselves, Israel
(02.05.13)
This means only one thing, that Obama is going to turn up the pressure to the max. Prepare for Jerusalem to become part of the PLO
3. Rescind the invitation
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.05.13)
"... prior to his arrival in Israel Obama will visit Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt and Jordan." I don't think so. He visits Israel first -- or he doesn't visit at all. That's what Netanyahu should insist upon. Israel is not an afterthought. After all -- what have any of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt and Jordan done for the United States lately? Except drain the U.S. Treasury, that is.
4. Abu Hussain ( Hamas used to cal him that ) your not welcome
zionist forever   (02.05.13)
Go back to Saudi Arabia you have been there twice already and you spent virtually your whole first term doing everything possible to suck up to the Islamic world including going out of your way to be seen as an enemy of Israel because thats what your Muslim buddies wanted to see.
5. Obama must be cautious
Chaim Ben Kahan ,   Efrat, Israel   (02.05.13)
The US president should take note what happened to Clinton and others who tried to make peace and realized too late that the enemies of Israel do not want to make peace. It's good that Obama learns this and learn this he will. Obama will put pressure on Israel and the PLO-Hamas only to find that only Israel is serious about making peace.
6. Bibi and Barack Are Capable of Cooperation
Bill ,   New York, USA   (02.05.13)
This is good news in every possible way. First, it shows that negotiating tough can lead to clarity. Second, Bibi probably can yield to pressure (settlement pauses, etc) without permanently giving anything up. That forces the Palestinians back to the table, where they will promptly turn down an offer that does not give them more than 99 percent of what they want. So the question is: what is going to bail the Palestinians out of this? Terror attacks? Iran? Egypt? If this is the worst that will be thrown at Israel, it is manageable.
7. Israel's most pressing issue: Iran's nuclear weapons program
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (02.05.13)
as long as the shia terror entity continues to develop its nuclear weapons program; as long as this terror regime continues to pose an existential threat to the jewish state of israel, her population and very existence, directly and through proxies, there can be no peace in the middle east. israel cannot make any concessions to any arab entities as long as the arabs and their muslim allies refuse to even recognise jewish historical rights to the land of israel, the holy city of jerusalem and the old city.
8. Give him
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (02.05.13)
no entry visa.
9. Dont tell me he's having his famousSeder in Israel this year
Alan ,   SA   (02.05.13)
10. Visiting a state and a non-state
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (02.05.13)
So Obama will be visiting Israel, an ally that just held democratic elections, as well as the PA - a non-state whose leader is in the 9th year of his four-year term, regularly dismisses US entreaties, and is seeking to reconcile with his even more radical brethren in Gaza. Two guesses which one will be harder pressed, but you'll only need one. And notice he'll first be visiting four of Israel's neighbors, three of whom are officially Islamic, while the fourth (Jordan) is on the brink.
11. Peres
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (02.05.13)
there is no fool like an old fool. peres should stop meddling in israel's national security, it relationship with obama, its iran policy, its diplomacy, etc.... peres is not an elected official, and he would never be elected to any position. his role is purely ceremonial. at this point, he is abusing his authority.
12. What exactly did Netanyahu promise? Give up Jerusalem?
Rachel ,   US   (02.05.13)
13. Obama, stay home please, thanks.
Yossef   (02.05.13)
14. Our Prez a masochist?
Cameron ,   USA   (02.05.13)
No smiling, adoring crowds waiting there, O-man. Should be one helluva spectacle.
15. He will visit Morsi's 'sons of apes and pigs'?
Steve   (02.05.13)
16. Obama will be given all the honours due to his office
Cipora Julianna Kohn   (02.05.13)
peoples' personal feelings towar the man will not preclude the state of israel from according him all the honours due to his office and making his visit as pleasant as possible.
17. Not Obama but Netanyahu is the problem!
Keren ,   IL-BR   (02.05.13)
I´m pretty sure that Netanyahu is not a bit, but TOTALLY delusional. I think Netanyahu is DRANK of power and has lost his contact with reality. Worse,Netanyahu is listening to a men that most certainly has Alzheimer, at least in certain degree ,and is following the advices of this man.
18. Wonder what his administration has cooked up?
Son Of Cyrus ,   UK   (02.05.13)
19. G-d Help Us
Elka ,   Netanya   (02.05.13)
Obama is looking after growing his legacy. He is interested in "peace" in this area. He cares not one iota about the price Israel would pay if he is allowed to build his legacy. He needs to be ignored and so, btw should the holder of the "ceremonial' office of President.
20. Ughh...the traffic!
Avi Ze'ev ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.05.13)
21. A limit to what Obama can do
Sam ,   Canada   (02.05.13)
Israel is not going to allow a Palestinian right of return or evacuate East Jerusalem and the settlements or go back to the 1967 borders because Obama is coming. There is a large gap between the Israeli and Palestinian positions. At best Netanyahu will make a greater effort to get talks going and hope that is enough for Obama and the EU who love talks.
22. Why aren't certain Americans silent when your president
A ,   Belgium   (02.05.13)
is about to stain his feet on "oppressive, illegal, zionist" soil? Will that be acceptable in Silver Bay, Minn.? Maryland? Or, even though Israel is last on Obamas agenda (probably because he can't face Benjamin Netanyahu without shaking in fear) , the USA has finally, albeit grudgingly, accepted the fact that Israel is a major player, the Saudis are money-hungry tyrants, Jordan is a non-kingdom ruled by a non-king, and the "palestinians", well...a little "chareef" on that felafel, Mr. President? TATA!
23. Yes indeed, #18
Cameron ,   USA   (02.05.13)
Man, you know it's gonna be somethin' special. Obama working that smiling, ever effective "I feel your pain" persona before bringing down the axe I daresay.
24. 3 we'll forward your concerns, meantime
state dept.   (02.05.13)
keep taking those meds. all the best.
25. It must be Christmas...Satan's Claws is coming to town
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (02.05.13)
26. So...he's going to show up at the same time Iran
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (02.06.13)
is finishing its Nuclear Weapons program with its first bomb??? Just in time to stop Israel from doing what is necessary to keep Iran from Acquiring a nuclear weapon. Good job King Barack. Be careful....he might just be running a campaign to disarm Israel ...like he is doing to us in the United States. His new peace initiative....get rid of the Jews and there ability to protect themselves anymore...and there will be peace.
27. One view of it, #22
Cameron ,   USA   (02.06.13)
Consider also that this visit may be a bit of grand theater for the world stage in which Obama himself comes in person to whip a stubborn ally/client more into line with his vision & agenda for the Palis and larger ME. Remember, he's always at his most dramatic and symbolic when standing before the world audience.
28. Palestinian State
Zechariah   (02.06.13)
Any Palestinian State in Judaea and Samaria ought to have State Rights like in the USA But no Jihadi or Fatah -Ba'ath and strict demilitirization.Settlements can Stay and expand in the Jewish Security State for a 1:1 Land swap.
29. Looking forward to that Israeli spring.
Hakim ,   Palestine   (02.06.13)
30. Incompetent president
Brod ,   USA   (02.06.13)
He better turns around America's economy before visiting other countries. How an incompetent president could be reelected shows the stupidity of the Republican Party in not being able to dethrone Obama.
