1. Picture of Abbas and Ahmadinejad smiling happily in Cairo
Andy Whittaker ,   Northampton, UK   (02.08.13)
So curious to see Abbas and Ahmadinejad looking so happy and friendly together at their recent meeting in Cairo - if Ahmadinejad gets his way and wipes Israel of the face of the map with a nuclear bomb then I suspect there won't be many Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza left either!
2. #1 Andy Whittaker
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (02.08.13)
No problem. They are all martyrs and will meet their 72 virgins.
3. the end game
Nissim ,   NYC   (02.08.13)
...is unilateral withdrawal to lines we want and imposing the conditions of peace. treat it like a Jewish hudna...here's your test Palis - fail and we take it all back and kick you out. put the ball in their court and shut them and the global lefty anti-Semitic lobby back on the defensive. you started 3 wars, 2 uprisings - you reject and incite, so here's what you're left with...we have no interest in ruling you any longer. you live on land we sure could use, but you people aren't worth it. remember, we were the victors here, so time for the Israeli leadership and political establishment to stop playing victim and lead.
4. Why is it difficult for zionists to consider themselves as
X   (02.08.13)
The rest of humans do: The reality is simple: you are stealing the land, the resources And aven the money of palestinians, And you are surprised their leader is setting with iranians??? Wake up.
5. Which Pal leader will say no to right of return,Jerusalem?
Sam ,   Canada   (02.08.13)
Even if Palestinians were ready to live next to a Jewish Israel which doesn't appear to be the case which Palestinian leader is going to tell his people that he has agreed to give up the right of return and Jerusalem. Israel's stance will have to be based on its reality.
6. Reply to Albrecht Klein in Germany.
Andy Whittaker ,   Northampton, UK   (02.08.13)
...thanks Albrecht for solving that mystery for me but, where do they keep getting all these virgins from - is there an inexhaustable supply somewhere?
7. The fork in the road.
John Prophet   (02.08.13)
The future of the 21st century pivots on what happens in the next 12 months. Failure to neutralize the evil that’s blooming in the Middle East moves the world into nuclear blackmail and Hell on earth.
8. the end game #3
yosef, phd ,   usa-israel   (02.08.13)
Finally a coherent, courageous article on this , by now sickening subject. Right on Nissim, Yishar Koach veShabbat shalom.
9. priority of right-wing is settlements, not reducing problems
Rafi ,   US   (02.08.13)
10. Less than 1% belongs to the jewish people.
michael Pielet ,   israel   (02.08.13)
Eretz israel belongs to the Jews and only the Jews. Eretz israel is only less than 1% of the middle east. Surely the arab nation can be satisfied with 99 plus % of the pie. A little perspective is needed.
11. He, or she, among the Muslim-Arabs who would come out and
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (02.08.13)
state, openly and directly, in Arabic, Hebrew and English, of his/her will to reach an accommodation of peaceful coexistence between Arab and Jew, between the Muslim-Arab world and the sovereign nation-state of the Jewish people, Israel; and, would do so without ifs, ands or buts, will actually be in a position of reaching such an accommodation with us, Jews, in no time. Sadly, that person has not been born yet, or at least has not come forth yet and stated that which the rest of us, Jews, along with the rest of the world expect her/him to state. The alternative, sadly, is a continuation of the management of a situation that is not pleasant to either side. But, this unpleasant state of affairs is, by far, preferable to the demise of Israel and the elimination of all that is Jewish and living here...!!
12. Judea/Samaria belong to Israel exclusively.
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.08.13)
A Palestinian state already exists. It is called Jordan. It occupies almost 80% of the Jewish Homeland Mandate. The land rightfully belongs to Israel. Judea and Samaria rightfully and legally belong to Israel exclusively. Moreover, as anyone capable of reading a map knows, they are vital to Israel's survival. There will be no monstrous Two State Final Solution on our land.
13. #4. "Palestinians" trying to steal Jewish Homeland.
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.08.13)
No nation called Palestine ever existed. Judea and Samara have belonged to Jews for more than 3,500 years. It is "Palestinians" poseurs who are trying to steal the sole tiny Homeland of the Jewish people.
14. 2 states
Boaz ,   Big Lake, MN./Israel   (02.08.13)
I think that it is high time that someone get a back bone and stand up to the "lefties" & "Pali's" and tell them the truth that the rest of us "amcha" seem to understand, that there is no place for another "failed" state in the Middle East, as we look around the neighborhood it is hard to see an example of a successful entity that is even living at peace amongst themselves much less with their neighbors. Even this morning we wake up seeing the country where the "Arab Spring", Tunis once again falling apart, Egypt is self-destructing, Syria, Lebanon... the list goes on and on... The only reason that the PA is still in existence is through the donation of hard earned cash of taxpayers from around the world, they cannot even pay their bloated payrolls much for electricity and water. And every time that they have tried to collect taxes there have been strikes and revolt, I hate to think what would happen if they really had to take care of themselves. The 2-state option would be nice in theory maybe in Europe but here in the ME not so much. I think that the "Jordan is Palestine" folks might be onto something, enough land for all of the so called Palestinians, the next king of Jordan will be at least half Palestinian. This could be a win-win for everyone... just a thought.
15. It's becoming due
Yael Schlichting ,   currently Munich   (02.08.13)
Israel unilaterally should assign a defined territory, a defined peoples and a government to this "Arab Judenrein Cleptocracy of Palestine". I find it appropriate to also send those Arabs who live in Israel, but have major troubles with this state to the new territory, so that Hanan Zoabi and friends happily can live in a country that will be as democratic as they wish. I think the territory is Trans-Jordan.
16. Issues between Israelis & Arabs (Muslims).
Son Of Cyrus ,   UK   (02.08.13)
In order to find a solution one has to be realistic & take a look at all the differences between the 2 parties. 1) Land, water, resources like oil & gas. 2) Religion, language, culture, history, heritage & way of life. What they have in common: Members of human race that destiny has brought together as neighbours and must co-exist in harmony for peace to be achieved. There are a lot of issues and one cannot solve them all of them by signing a piece of paper alone! It has to be a gradual & phased solution over a long period of time. Ultimately the entire world is becoming a 'Global Village' but we are a long way away from that. Ideally on a reginal basis it would be a good idea to have a confederation between Israel, Jordan/Palestine, however, initially the 'border' has to be drawn. The natural border is River Jordan. On one side is the Israel/Jews, the other Arabs/Jordainian/Palestinians. If this is accepted in principal the other issues are resolvable rather quickly. There is simple not enough space between Israel & Jordan for a 3rd country called Palestine! This is a fact as it is not practical or viable and that is why a solution has not been found so far. Unfortunately after so many wars, bloodshed, financial suffering everybody has reached the same conclusion the hard way and the current stalemate. On the religion issue all people regardless of their personal beliefs have to realize that they need to respect each other and work on their own self to make themselves better by practicing the Holy Trinity of Good Thoughts, Good Words & Good Deeds (The Universal Religion). Mutual respect & cooperation & projects to gradually improve everybody's lives.
17. Peace is totally impossible
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (02.08.13)
No Arab regimehas ever kept a single treaty. They have violated every single treaty for the last 1,400 years. The only solution is to send the illegal Jordanian colonists back to their own lands
18. no palestinian leader
rm ,   Amsterdam NL   (02.08.13)
will ever be moderate or acceptable enough for Israel. that's a fact. Let's face it, from the current status quo Israel benefits the most....suppose oh horror that peace would brake out....it might mean that Israel would have to declare real borders instead of perfectly fluid ones........
19. #10 What the percentage got to do with it?
jon ,   USA   (02.08.13)
You have a house. I go there and use 40 square cm for my flowers. Do you calculate the percentage of all of your property to the one I use and say to yourself: OK, it is only 1%?
20. To #17 the last 40,000 years!!!
jon ,   USA   (02.08.13)
They did not keep any treaty the last 40,000 years. Don't forget, the world is older than 5400 years.
21. Put a gun to their head, and tell them to sign or else
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (02.08.13)
22. #13
Harold ,   USA   (02.08.13)
Why Judea and Samaria were not included when Israel was created in 1948. The UN's plan is to devide Palestine into two states one part for the Jews and another part for the Arabs. Israel cannot go and steal others lands claiming that God gave it to them. The whole world is fed up of this M.E. problem including God Himself.
23. To # 1 Whose future is threatened ?
Stan ,   Israel   (02.08.13)
Long before Iran "wipes Israel off the face of the map" the Muslims will control Northhampton, If in the meantime my Bibi government in Israel will finally understand that the status quo will eventually lead to mass boycott of the kind that led to the collapse of White South Africa, then there is every likelyhood that Israel will survive and you can come here.
24. PLO, Hizbollah, and Hamas are allies of Iran
Chaim Ben Kahan ,   Efrat, Israel   (02.08.13)
These three entities are sworn to destroy Israel and Israel is being pressured to make peace with them. Peace will only come when these three surrender unconditionally like the Axis powers did during WWII. Once these modern Axis powers surrender a lasting peace can be made.
25. What a pile of ridiculous drivel.
Michael Steiner ,   Bahrain   (02.08.13)
Abbas is the obstacle to peace because he met with 'Jad and took a photo with him in which they're both smiling. The level of polemic in the Middle East debate has officially plumbed new depths.
26. To #4
Oleg ,   USA   (02.08.13)
Why it is difficult for "humans" to acknoledge, that are trying for thousand years, occupy a land that belonges to Jews. Think about this, for thousand years, same and same and same again, and again and again. Why wouldn't you just for once give this nation a right to live in its own Homeland and stop pretend that you are right. Take a history lessons, maybe this will help to understand what is what.
27. To Andy Whittaker
Gabriel ,   Leiden, Netherlands   (02.08.13)
Nowhere it says that these virgins have to be actually female....... If there's any justice, their days in the afterlife will not be quite what they anticipated....
28. Why is Abbas still alive?
The Feiglin Solution ,   Manhigut Yehudit   (02.08.13)
When Feiglin becomes PM, this will change!
29. Great Photo
Zechariah   (02.08.13)
Abbas and Ahamijad are actually moderates compared to what is coming and the Jews ought prepare vigorously. Scare the Haredim and Arabs and most Jews to leave and prepare for a mass exchange that will lead to mass area uninhabitable for centuries for the shoals for the pogroms for the harsh dhimmis a just revenge.i
