Yeah, yeah, yeah. Come across the "we gonna get Mongol on 'em" speech many times on YNET, but there is a world of difference between what Israel COULD do, and what they actually WILL wind up doing. The IDF will no more put the zap on the Hez freaks with serious ground ops any more than they were prepared to roll into Gaza streets to settle up with Hamas. Artillery & aerial bombing, and that will be the sum of it (oh yes, ever so careful precision Israeli bombardment mind you). Make the same bet with you that I offered to da Sheik. Set terms, if you dare.
32. 17 - of what the IDF is and what's it's capable of.
split ,   US   (02.08.13)
IDF never faced or fought properly trained or equipped regular armed forces and that's a fact - Being equipped by US latest war toys claiming a victory over sheep herders equipped with outdated/decommissioned Soviet junk or bombing the shit out of defenceless urban dwellers from F15/16 jet fighters doesn't make you a victor or prove of any special capabilities except a one of being an obedient executioner of criminal orders full of contempt for human life, that's all.

if it wasn't for the politicians, Israel would not be facing half of the dangers it is facing today. those heroic young men and women giving their lives in vain, not being allowed to finish the job, eliminating the enemy, as they proved so many times, they can do.
34. Better PR also required next time round
Get Real ,   UK   (02.08.13)
Good to see the Commander is thinking positively about the task ahead and Israel has a strong PM. Whilst Israel's capabilities to deliver a devastating blow against Hezbollah and its Lebanese base is not in doubt its PR needs improving next time round and particularly in explaining that to maintain its security it needs to eliminate the terrorist threat to Israel of tens of thousands of missles on the other side of the border.

When the supersonic cruise missiles come screaming into Israel at mach 3 at 50 feet, the much bragged about Iron Dome might as well be an ATM for all the good it will do. Better hope the warheads are all conventional. Whoops... Fog of war, don't you know.
