1. Friends of Israel?
Abu Yussef al Yahudi ,   Bue_Aires-Argentina   (02.08.13)
I wish to ask a "hot" question: Are these people (Cyprus) our partners in the survey & production of the offshore Gas and Oil fields in the East Mediterranean ? With friends like that, Israel does not need foes. May be Israel needs to re-evaluate her partnership with this traitors. AM ISRAEL CHAI
2. Bibi weakness
Fad Egypt   (02.08.13)
Bibi is to blame, due to his lack of response to the PA bid in the UN, instead of responding harshly to this move, Bibi decided to build some housing units in the settlements !!!! even the building in E1 area was frozen by him due to the foreign pressure, instead of responding by annexing area C, Bibi was very weak, if he had annexed area C, the international community would ve understood that the PA state cant be established unilaterly without Israel approval and that Israel can prevent the establishment of the PA state by annexing the territories so it would decide not to endorse such PA moves at the end of the day, if Bibi had done that , country like Cyprus wouldnt ve upgraded the PA status, as it would be a useless move and would backfire from Israel but Bibi is so weak, he thinks that by doing that he will satisfy the US, and the west to help him against Iran, now Iran is months away fro nuclear bomb, the syrian WMDs may fall in the wrong hands, and Europe is refusing to label Hizbullah as a terror organization, so where is the western support ??!!! appeasement is wrong, again the israelis elected right got left !!!! Shalom
3. Gas
Ron ,   LA   (02.08.13)
Cypress can deal with the Turks and develop their own gas-without Israel, good luck. Who cares about Cypress anyhow.
4. They can host Palestinians instead of Israelis!
(02.08.13)
You can then welcome the jihadists and Sharia Law. Cyprus should remember that the Turks, their "best friends", are allied with the Palestinians and still think that Turkish Delight is a dead Greek, particularly a Cypriot one!
5. Looks like the gas pipeline
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (02.08.13)
idea will have to be re-evaluated. Israel willl open itself to blackmail if it lays a pipeline to Europe via Cyprus. Wonder how much it will cost to liquify the gas and transport it to foreign markets by sea, and the impact it will have on projected revenue
6. Status upgrade? 0 multiplied by 180 still equals 0.
Jake   (02.08.13)
7. #5, Not of your concern, though, Londoner.
Jake   (02.08.13)
8. In which language will they speak among them...
Keren ,   IL-BR   (02.08.13)
...in that embassy?Palestinian? No! Why? Because a language called "palestinian" doesn´t exist in this world(perhaps in Mars),not even a dialect. They will speak among them ARABIC and there are 22+coutries in the ME that speak their language-ARABIC!- and only one that speaks HEBREW. They can not create an "arab embassy" in Hebrew´s land. They must ask for permission. They are creating a lalaland and as all fantasies, sooner or later, their lalaland will disappear.
9. Cyprus will broker the 2-states solution.
Michael ,   California, USA   (02.08.13)
Time for Israel to start working for peace in the region. Peace wit security plan brokered by Cyprus will be welcome.
10. Obama is once again leading from behind
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (02.08.13)
there is no doubt that obama is pushing european countries to do that which for him would be, at this point at least, problematic.
11. Embassy of the State of Palestine!
Dee Bee ,   Israel   (02.08.13)
Created by the failure of the Israeli Government to enter negotiations, which are inevitable, with the Palestinians. The Netanyahu Government, in its constant appeasing of the right-wing extremists who kept him in power and then merging with a party that Stalin would have been proud of, has allienated the entire world except for the USA, Canada and a few countries that have no international clout at all! What is even worse it that the "real" Likudniks, like Begin and Eitan, have been pushed out! Menachem Begin must be spinning in his grave! 68% of Israelis want negotiations. That is the will of the people which you have sworn to serve. Do your job or get out and stop the wheeler-dealing!
12. Fakestine - Much recognition for somethng that aint there!
Eilon ,   yerushalyim   (02.08.13)
A fabricated nonsense people invented by an Egyptian psycho in the 1970s. Their so-called state is now in 2 parts - (1) hamastan and (2) ramalla-based dictatorship run by a "moderate" with a PhD in Holocaust-Denial.
13. Now Cyprus join the pack - Palestinian State
sam sweiry ,   Eastbourne UK   (02.08.13)
Really? Are you serious Cyprus? are you going to let use your island for trans shipment of arms to GAZA to complete the Jock? - Seriously - What are you trying to gain? - Palestinian State? - A jock! But I hope one day they will be Peace - Then we can witness the birthday of Palestinian State - But certainly not at present time
14. Cyprus still hasn't found "palestine" on the map!
A ,   Belgium   (02.08.13)
15. Will they recognised the independence of Northern Cypress
John Phee ,   Sydney AUSTRALIA   (02.08.13)
The Cypriots are now almost obliged to recognise the independence of Northern Cypress. If Israel recognised Turkish North Cypress that may help mend the problems with Turkey. So maybe it is in Israel's best interests to have diplomatic relations with them
16. Secure the Jordan valley and area c
Zechariah   (02.08.13)
Area c the Jordan valley and e1 ought be military bases for defence of Jews and Arabs now in Eretz Yisroel against nuclear attacks .Soon the Arabs will be ordered out of Eretz Yisroel by the Jihadi suicidal sects and they will run out freely from Gaza from Ramallah the Jews also many ought leave especially the Haredim as a nuclear exchange we the Jews. for the shoahs and the pogroms and the harsh dhimmis Armegeddon.
17. Cyprus Dhimmis
Brod ,   USA   (02.08.13)
Let the Islamist-Jihadists invade them. They deserve it.
18. Maybe Turkey Should Repatriate The
(02.08.13)
Whole Island? Maybe The Kurds And Armenian Can Share This Island and cypriotes and move to greece?
19. Huge mistake
Anadelfos ,   Athens Greece   (02.08.13)
This decision of Cyprus is a huge mistake.I am still unable to understand the reasons, which led to that self-destructive decision.Israel is the only country which helped Cyprus to deal with turkish aggresiveness during the previous years. I feel really astonished, and hope they understand their mistake by changing this bad decision.
20. Gas
Nick ,   Den Haag Holland   (02.08.13)
Looks Like the Cypriotische Gas maffia got 2 miljoen new gostumers.
21. not the whole story
Arn ,   Yehud, Israel   (02.08.13)
I'm sure there is a lot here that doesn't meet the eye here. What profit was there for Cyprus upgrading the status of the Palestinian Authority? Very little in the way of commerce or tourism, or whatever. Zilch, to be honest. All I can see is a desperate defensive maneuver to deflect the Arab states anger if and when Cyprus makes dramatic and far reaching commercial agreements with Israel. Cyprus today is flat out broke. The EU is not going to bail her out. The Israel oil/gas connection is all she has to assure her future liquidity. This is just a weak, somewhat shameful, and probably a futile attempt to show the Arab world that she has not turned her back on Arab interests. They will convince no one.
22. # 8 iMPOSTER
keren IL-BR   (02.08.13)
This is a fake Keren. My true opinion comes as follows: Ruth Gavison's opinion reflects the vision that should guide us now. Real Zionists should come to sense now and realize that the there is no solution other than the two State solution. Today Cyprus, tomorrow 132 countries. Would we be here venting our anger forever, like fouls? People like this filthy imposter that try to impersonate me is just antizionists or antisemites that get money from the Palestinians to destroy the Zionist dream. Ynet should track them and disclose their identities and the money they have got to destroy our homeland.
23. NO, NO, NO
Daud Maher ,   Ramallah   (02.08.13)
Please, Cyprus, don't do that! i beg you. We don't want a Palestinian State. We want to be Israelis, with full rights. We want betuach leumi for all. WE ARE NOT PALESTINIANS. THERE IS NO PALESTINIAN PEOPLE. We are aborigines like those in Australia. We just want to become Israeli citizens. Don't destroy our dreams, please, Cyprus. Just make a research and you will see that 80% of aboriginal Arabs in Judea and Samaria just want to be part of Israel. Please, talkbackers, help me us to avoid this big mistake.
24. # 8 Idiot comment
Kobi Martin ,   Tel Aviv   (02.08.13)
What language do you speak in Brazil? Brazilian? What language do they speak in Switzerland? Swiss? This is the most ridiculous comment ever.
25. #15, No because Turkey is worse.
Jake   (02.08.13)
26. Israel &, Jordan are the de jure Palestinian states
zinovy   (02.08.13)
Israel, Gaza, Jordan are the de facto Palestinian states Ramallah administers the Arabic speaking regions of Samaria and Judea
27. I have a secret
alsky ,   toronto   (02.08.13)
if 'palestinians' wanted peace, there would be peace a long time ago. Here's a clue....."islamic Caliphate"
28. uai uai uai...
Keren ,   IL-BR   (02.08.13)
There is somebody who gets literally despaired with my comments! שבת שלום
29. they could call it a castle but it wouldn't make it one
zionist forever   (02.08.13)
There is no state of Palestine apart from on the letterhead paper and only real countries have embassies. Cyprus saying there is a state of palestine embassy won't make it an embassy. If they do have any ambitions on getting a state one day then they need to stop acting like children by demanding and moaning about every little thing and start compromising.
30. Halt ALL Israeli support of terrorist P.A. NOW!
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.08.13)
Israeli support for the genocidal, terrorist P.A. is obscene. The P.A. plots genocide against Israel and Israel sends it money, food, electricity...This is lunacy. No other state in history has voluntarily funded it's enemies. Halt ALL Israel support of the terrorist P.A. NOW! Not a gram of food. Not a drop of water. Not a watt of electricity. Not a shekel. No protection from Hamas. NOTHING for the evil P.A.
