2. Stand up sisters to ultra orthadox coercion
Haim ,   TA   (02.12.13)
Good luck sisters in your battle agains the ultra orthdox who seem to be under the illusion they have a monopoly on jewdism. Freedom of religion and also the right not to belive or live under other peoples relligious rules is a basic human right.
3. 2 Sisters: both are clowns!
Dora Gold ,   Lod, Israel   (02.12.13)
One clown who dresses like a rabbi is not as funny! LOL!
4. One has to love this: Two "expert" groups quarreling over
tom ,   tel aviv   (02.12.13)
squareness of the circle! Actually none of the Silverman sisters has any reason to be particularly proud of each other: one is a typical American, Jewish, Obamaistic do-gooder (in her own mind), the other follows an Imaginary Friend all the way to Jerusalem's Western Wall; none of these activities do real good for the State of Israel.
5. can someone explain
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (02.12.13)
who this Silverman is? Has she done anything noteworthy or even remotely interesting? From the Internet it seems she is famous only because she talks about how she lost her virginity twice, and because she has a boorish father.
6. Some family - all troublemakers!!
(02.12.13)
7. Grandstanding by dim witted yentas...if they really cared
Al   (02.12.13)
for Israel and its welfare, they would organize a trip to day care centres for young children on the front lines of Sederot..a visit to an army base for lone soldiers or a visit to an old age home for lonely elderly. But noooo. they want to show that they can wear a talis and shake like a lulav. They are not women of valour... They are dimwitted yentas...
8. Prayer and respect for tradition.
michael Pielet ,   israel   (02.12.13)
Every Jew has the right to stand and pray at the Wall, Kotel. With full respect given to the traditions that govern behavior at the Wall, Kotel.
9. What is wrong for Jewish women to pray the way they want?
sam sweiry ,   Eastbourne UK   (02.12.13)
I fail to understand why Jewish Women cant do what they like - Where is nowhere written in the Tora - Women can not wear Talit or Kipah - It is beyound me to understand the logic! - We live in a modern world - We have the freedom to choose in what we believe - Religious Fanatics beeing Jewish, Islamic or any other Religions/Faith MUST STOP - We live in real world - everyone need freedom to express oneself even if - We all disagree with it
10. 5 The sister is a TV celebrity & most still don't recognize
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   www.netzarim.co.il   (02.12.13)
that celebrity worship -- idolizing -- is idolatry. Why anyone thinks a person who makes a career of playing pretend, or playing a game, is an intellectual authority boggles the mind. But, that's the Herd Syndrome for you.
11. Dysfunctional family
Mosh ,   Jerusalem   (02.12.13)
The Silvermans are about as close as Jews get to those trailer park trash the goyim have in the south. Since Jerry Springer's show ended they have no where else to go than the pulp of newspaper columns.
12. Human Dignity v. Divine Dignity
modest dignity   (02.12.13)
After the Enlightenment, Immanuel Kant, Locke, and Hume, let us all nurture our own human dignity. The Rabbi Silverman is on the wrong track. The Comedian Silverman is also on the wrong track.
13. Orthodox on the wrong side of history
Avramele   (02.12.13)
The march to human equality, for women, gays, and minorities moves in only one direction. As Dylan wrote, "get out of the way if you can't lift a hand".
14. Issue the women white chickens to swing around their heads.
(02.12.13)
Then all will be find.
15. Fair management needed. The Wall is a secular antiquity.
Michael ,   California, USA   (02.12.13)
It should be run as an antiquity and have equal access to it granted legally to everybody. Rabbis can do their thing by the wall, men, women, Reform, Orthodox, Reconstructionist, Secular visitors, whatever. The principle should be that everybody there is equal in the use of the site and no discrimination of any sort should be allowed. I expect this woman and her sister to start a movement in Israel to secularize the Wall for posterity, in the name of fairness.
16. Separate sites / options
Joseph ,   London UK   (02.13.13)
Throughout the Jewish world there are separate sites for Traditional and Reform Jewish worship, and the Western Wall is no exception. The Israeli civil High Court designated the section of the wall known as Robinson's Arch for women to wear tefillin and tallis and to lain from a Sefer Torah. Women of the Wall are fully aware of the Court order and fully know they are in contempt of Court, which is why the civil police are there to remind them. From what I see on the men's side there are Jews of every variety side by side with no problem. Men must have read Deuteronomy 22.5 which says, 'A woman shall not wear that which pertains to a man, and neither shall a man wear women's garments, for whosoever does this is an abomination to the L-rd your G-d.'
17. The solution is simple
Stan ,   Israel   (02.13.13)
Raise the hight of the barrier between men and women to 2.2 meters. then the men can get back to their serious business of praying without having to see what these women are doing or wearing.
18. these Obama loving Jews should go home to america
Dovid ,   Haifa   (02.13.13)
19. #13 is sadly correct
Baruch ,   Boston, USA   (02.13.13)
Homosexuality, bisexuality, transgenderism, women and men dressing and living alike with eventually no need for each other, women in combat and as police patrol officers, and other things that dumb, coarse, and embarrassing Jewish women like Sara Silverman stand for are all moving us in the direction of a failed society. They are just too stupid to understand, and they think that what they are doing is for the betterment of society.
20. where the WOW are coming from
Bluegrass Picker ,   Afula   (02.13.13)
Examine the examples of Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton. In large affluent societies, it is possible to make a very good living by becoming the "poster child" for a slogan. Kotel actions are aimed at which audience? The target audience is over-fed Jews in america. WOW's competition is not Israeli Orthodoxy, it's all the other "progressive" organizations in America which are seeking contributions from well-heeled wives of rich Jews in America. Folks: "ethics" is really just show biz. Arresting Anat is playing into her gameplan!
21. 15
Sane ,   manchester   (02.14.13)
No it is not. It is a religious site, built as a religious site, and has been prayed at by orthodox Jews while these reformers where tearing the prayer for return to Jerusalem out of their prayer books because they were so happy in Germany(!)
22. Reply to number 9
Danny ,   London England   (02.14.13)
There are two sections to the Western Wall. The Western Wall Plaza is designated for Traditional worship and the section nearby at the Southwest corner of the Western Wall is called Robinson's Arch and is designated for Reform Jewish worship, and also for women who want to wear tefillin, a man's tallis, read from a Sefer Torah etc. We have separate Traditional and reform synagogues everywhere else in the world, and the Wall is no different. Women of the wall are fully aware of the High Court ruling and they are well aware they are in contempt of court, which is why they were arrested.
23. The Silvermans
(02.14.13)
Sarah, Susan, and their father: three idiots.
24. To No. 19
Bertram ,   London, UK   (02.14.13)
Oh dear, aren't people disappointing? So many just refuse to live up to your standards, or behave according to 'revealed truths'. Oh wise one, such stupidity. But, hold on, Iran can provide a model to emulate: religious police and severe punishments for failure to act in an orthodox Islamic - sorry, Jewish - manner.
