1. pulling a kid out of school by the ear, for what?
We really should understand what did this boy do? Some kids can be pretty rotten and must be forcibly removed from their classes. It sounds like this is the case, not a principal going spasmatic on a well behaved kid.
2. School Discipline.
Growing up in South Africa the cane always seemed to work.
Too many psychologists and nonsense these days.Youth are undisciplined and have little respect. Bring back the cane I say.

3. Boy's parents to blame.
4. Bring back the cane # 2
You lucky devil only the cane. Growing up in England we got hit depending on the subject metal ruler (English teacher). Training shoe (physical education). Wooden ruler (wood work) bloody great atlas (geography). I still considered myelf lucky in primary school I used to get tied to the chair by the nuns for being left handed. Not the best way of earning a teachers rspect but a lot better than what goes on here
5. #2 - Joe Bliksem
I agree with you 100%
Joe Moer ,
6. I was not arrested
I was lucky. I was only sent home for 2 weeks because of a complaint by a 9 year old. There was no truth in the complaint. The family involved was one with lots of experience on the wrong side of the law. They know well what to say to the police after having it said to them.
Good for the Parent's committee
7. Principal's House Arrest
As a former teacher in the USA, the principal has my full support! Educators are the punching bags for unsrupulus politicians that control the education system and don't give a Fiddler's Fuck about education, too many undisciplined young brats who cannot even spell "Respect", and, countless parents who are just as bad as their children. I expect (and hope) that in a few years from now, nobody with half a brain will even consider becoming a teacher. Only such an extreme eventuality will shake the system enough to get rid of the myriad of dumb "Education Researchers" who brought about this shameful reality to our schools.
8. Boy's side of the story
the boy probably made a wise-crack at the headmaster who obviously lost his cool. But I don't buy into physical punishment, it's antiquated and belongs to an era of decades past. Humiliation and pain aren't the way to teach our kids respect, there's a more enlightened way. If teachers can't outthink a 9 year old, they shouldn't be in the job!!
9. My kindergarten teach used to pull me by the ear
One time she pulled me down two flights of stairs. Apparently I didn't hear her ring her little bell which meant to stand to attention.
I'm now 45 and am still a bit traumatized by it, I think that's why I like ice cream so much. :-)
10. I was caned...
for something trivial, three weeks after being in a serious accident that killed my father. Leave the cane in the history books. If an adult can't outsmart a nine year old then perhaps they shouldn't be in education.
