1. Can we shut that door - PLEASE
Sam Sweiry ,   Eastbourne - UK   (02.18.13)
Enough said - Enough written - Enough Stipulations - However, the Trueth will never be known to the outside world - Let the Dead Man lie in peace
2. Australia!
Abraham ,   Sydney, Australia   (02.18.13)
If my homeland does anything to weaken ties with Israel, I am going to be one really pissed off guy!!!
3. Trevor uses a crystal ball. Turbo charged
Adi ,   Zurich   (02.18.13)
Trevor uses a crystal ball. Turbo charged
4. Aussy
zznhl   (02.18.13)
So he placed the lives of Israeli agents in real danger. Its not enough that these heros must deal with the everyday every minute dangers involved in their job of defending their homeland, but they must all deal with the dangers that those of Ziegers type present.
5. He became his own worse enemy....
BUILD BABY BUILD ,   United States   (02.18.13)
while his death is still sad it would appear he had one true liability, that is, he couldn't hold a secret. For most people that isn't a sin however, for him as a spy it not only threatened his mission but only G-d knows how many more lives and secrets? As drip by drip the truth seeps out it's beginning to sound like the ultimate 'whodunit' ? Dangerous business that of being a 'can't hold a secret ' spy.
6. Four passports in as many years?
Censored ,   Censored   (02.18.13)
Any surprises why he wasn't questioned??? I blame the handlers' negligence.
7. i find it hard to believe that someone whose sole
oferdesade ,   israel   (02.18.13)
purpose was to deliver passports would be entrusted with information that warranted erasure. and for divulging information to a friendly nation - maybe solitary like pollard, but not death - physical or otherwise. the fact that the entire thing is a sham is proven by a single fact: the one asking for the inquiry is in the foreign office, usually the most irrelevant branch of ANY modern government
8. #6 You are absolutely correct.
Robert ,   Australia   (02.18.13)
If ASIO hadn't questioned him they wouldn't have been doing their job. By the way, Australian citizens have a responsibility to Australia too.
9. Dual Aus/Israeli applies for a new Aussie passport
(02.18.13)
so soon after the Dubai hit is kind of inviting like inviting ASIO over for a good sniff, no?
10. I was wondering why Aus kept so quiet about him all the time
Alan ,   SA   (02.18.13)
Did they decorate him for meritorious services to Australia.
11. 6 - Totally agree, His handlers bare most of
(02.18.13)
the responsibility here and instead of helping him feal with asio locked him up and threw the key.
12. It is possible that this man was....
Robert ,   Australia   (02.18.13)
....torn between the land of his birth and citizenship, Australia, and Israel. If he did succumb to ASIO questioning he was merely doing his duty to Australia as is required of an Australian citizen.
13. Proves we have no friends
Bill Stein ,   USA   (02.18.13)
While spying is a accepted practice in any country this proves we have no friends and Israel must do as needed to protect security. You can bet there are US spies in Mossad and the Israeli Goverment or the Australian Goverment was working with US intelligence. Israel cannot trust the US or any other power in her defense.
14. Australia
EJ ,   UK   (02.18.13)
It is blatantly obvious this fella has committed a serious crime. If the reports are accurate, he has turned his back on Mossad and the State of Israel. But lets be honest, what you do you expect from the convicts in Australia? Irrelevant country. Rule Brittania. Keep up the good work Israel.....
15. Certainly!
Adrian Luca ,   Melbourne   (02.18.13)
If Australia shows any concern for the fact that a supposed ally like Israel keeps misusing Australian passports for illegal purposes, I will be very angry at Australia!
16. #15
Bill Stein ,   USA   (02.18.13)
I'm one very angry American who is very Angry against Australia for selling out Israel and the Jewish People.
17. How much crap can one stand?
Mikesailor ,   Miami, FL   (02.18.13)
The only thing actually known is that 'Prisoner X" was held in an Israeli prison under an assumed name and that is where he died. Everything else seeme to be BS. The "suicide story" is altogether fishy. How does one commit suicide in a jail where he is videotaped 24-7? No jail cell bars, no secluded bathroom, no privacy whatsoever. Then we are regaled with stories about passprts, Dubai etc. all from those who covered up the death and the very existence of the dead man by lying in the first place. The only thing we actually know is that almost every story published is wrong in some respect.
18. Geniuses in covert-ops, colossal fools in diplomacy
Expat ,   Adelaide   (02.18.13)
Whatever benefit Israel may have reaped from the elimination of that egregious terrorist, it was offset several times over by the nearly-irreparable damage caused to its relations with Australia - traditionally one of Israel's scant true friends. It baffles the mind how people who are such geniuses in gathering intelligence and organizing covert-ops, would be such colossal fools when it comes to diplomacy.
19. And why...what are they hiding?
david ,   Montteal, Canada   (02.18.13)
Australian Attorney General Mark Dreyfus said that there was no need for an internal inquiry into the manner in which the ASIO handled the Zygier affair.
20. He was a kid bumbler, destroyed unnecessarily.
Michael ,   California, USA   (02.18.13)
Telling where the best shawarma spots are in Tel Aviv is nothing. So far, nothing written about him proves he did much damage to Israel. So why did Israel drive him to suicide? The methods which Israel uses to drive prisoners to suicide should be investigated.
21. Left Wing Cries
Bill Stein ,   USA   (02.18.13)
It seems a little odd that the leftist parties are screaming bloody murder over this. Do they have something to hide??
22. I feel sorry for any dual national
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (02.18.13)
attempting to renew their second passport which many see as their insurance if things become unbearable in Israel Netanyahu has a responsibility to ensure his government's actions do not affect the lives of ordinary decent Israelis. What the hell was the government thinking when caught red handed in Dubai they thought they could continue operations as before? Make no mistake the State of Israel is responsible for his death, this obsession of working alone will get us all killed, nobody wants Iran to have nuclear weapons what was wrong with working with the Italiens at a time when Berlusconi was Prime Minister? We are being led by idiots unable and unwilling to adapt to the modern world. they are still fighting wars they fought half a century ago
23. #18 Expat or whatever
Bill Stein ,   USA   (02.18.13)
Israelis will see the true color of world help after this the Aussies are scoundrels and backstabbers and rest assured the Israeli Goverment and people will remember this. Leftist Israelis are probably helping spy on Israel and that too will come out eventually.
24. EJ # 14
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (02.18.13)
Where do you think those convicts came from? Let's be honest now.
25. To: No. 17
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.18.13)
How is it any of your business?
26. To #17
Fran Avishay ,   USA   (02.18.13)
Thank you sooo much for the voice of truth and reason. Everything we hear is one form of BS or another. All we really know is that a young son and father died alone and tormented.
27. # 17
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (02.18.13)
Since when has a video recorder stopped a death? Somebody has to be watching 24-7 and then react quickly. In answer to your question about how much we can stand. Thanks to people like you and Benassi, and Edithann etc we are developing quite a tolerance for crap.
28. How disgusting of ASIO......
Robert ,   Australia   (02.19.13)
.....to look after Australia's interests and protect their citizens working in the middle east.
29. If Israel had asked Australia......
Robert ,   Australia   (02.19.13)
......beforehand they may well have co-operated. As it is Israel acted like an enemy of Australia.
