1. It is now clear why Bibi changing how Likud defines it list
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (02.20.13)
Bibi's surprise deal with Livni has shocked his supporters and his party, and he may have a problem getting such a government approved using Likud votes. He wanted to change the way the Likud defines its list in future elections, and now it is clear that this change will be because he would not be on the next list given the current democratic methods of members voting.
2. When Lapid said he would be the next PM I did not expect Bib
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (02.20.13)
When Lapid said he would be the next PM I did not expect Bibi would help him so quickly. This move alienated everyone who voted for Bibi, Lapid, Bennet, or Livini. If Bibi can not get a government together that will last more than a year he has killed himself and his party.
3. "Livni had no choice"
R ,   Israel   (02.20.13)
Livni had a choice - to put the future of Israel over her personal career. She chose not to. Just sayin'...

5. Bibi&Evet soon divorced-how many mandates to Likud alone?
miki ,   tampa   (02.20.13)
About the same as Livni-Bibi is so lost so clueless so out of touch and so good riddance.
6. #3 it's the other way around.
Avi   (02.20.13)
I presume most of her voters didn't want her with Bibi, or at least thought she wouldn't join him due to her party's statements. But she did. Therefor this is not a career move. She does however put the state before her by joining a coalition and thus making it more stable and moderate. Livni is also a respected figure in the world which is something we need. How did you manage to reverse the interpretation? Being in the opposition means to betray your voters and throw their voices to the trash. You don't do anything in the opposition. You're in stasis. If you don't like who's in charge of a government then you join it and moderate it. You force your voice and opinions as a partner inside it. The fact is that even with 6 seats Livni will have 10 times more influence over government decisions than Sheli. In a system like in Israel where you've got all colors of the rainbow in the coalition you don't get to moan and say that it's not to your liking, because with 10+ parties inside it odds are that's what will happen every time. So you join as a partner to influence it and bring it closer to your ideology. It's very sad that the haredim figured it out while Sheli didn't, because indirectly she's selling the country to them and so some of the fault belongs to her.
7. Don't worry, be happy.....
Shachar Shalev ,   Eilat   (02.20.13)
To all those strangely concerned rightists, don't worry! Be happy! It's the same old Bibi, everybody is going to be in his next gov't, at least 30 ministers, 10 deputy minsters and all to do more of the same...nothing.
8. Israeli voters don't want Livni. They were totally betrayed.
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.20.13)
What is best for Livni? What is best for Livni? That is all this despicable ruse is about. NEVER what is best for Israel? Livni heads a small Knesset faction supported by practically nobody. Israelis don't want Livni. They were totally betrayed in this despicable deal.
9. Dont go along
David S   (02.20.13)
There is no reason for Bayit, Lapid or Labor to go along with this. Better that they have new elections now where Tzipi will lose all her six seats to either Lapid or Labor, and Likud will lose all its right wing seats to Bayit. There should be no government without principal.
10. Its a Purim Joke
S Judah ,   jerusalem   (02.20.13)
Firstly Bennet and Lapid were idiots to think that Netanyahu would drop Shas and UTJ, they have always supported Netanyahu. Secondly Livni is a great appointment, because she has international credit and because the Palestinians are not ready for a realistic peace. It will be all talk and little real movement and will be good for Israel
11. Kol HaKavod Bibi....
Mitchell Cohen ,   Gush Etzion, Israel   (02.20.13)
....for betraying your voters by running after Livni, going after Shas and UTJ before Bennett and Yaish Atid and then Labor (after Shas and UTJ) and then and only then Bayit HaYehudi and Yaish Atid, despite the fact that most Likud voters (and Israelis for that matter) are allergic to Livni, consider an equal share of the burden a bread and butter issue, and are sick and tired of these "land for 'peace' " scams. Netanyahu will kick another tens of thousands of Jews out of their homes and the status quo of Haredim/Arabs NOT carrying their share of the burden (be it army service or national civilian service) will continue. I hope all Likud/Beitenu voters are happy....
12. back door-bibi
mohson   (02.20.13)
livni can do all she wants to do but liberman and likud wll not let bibi endorse her crazy concessions. She has almost zero mandate and israelis while agreeing that she is not corrupt considers her an idiiot which she is. Bibi is surrounding himself with leftists to give him cover for obama because he cannot take pressure. he surrounds himself with liberman, yaalon, soon mofaz, mitzni since he has no confidence in his own judgement. bennett, liiberman, ffeiglin, maybe lapid are more self confident leaders and its only time before bibi will have to resign his PM ship. he has done enough and israelis are tired of him, like they are of eliezer and herzog's tired labour party, mofaz a lousy mk and general.

Unless Bibi has a coalition made up of Lapid, Bennet and the religious parties then its unlikely any coalition will last much more than a year. With Lapid, Bennet and Livni Bibi can't afford to loose a single coalition partner and there is going to be alot of friction with Bennet who doesn't like him personally and both Lapid who sees himself as PM in waiting & Livni who i both arrogant and ambitious also both backstabbers. A coalition made up of the religious, Livni and Bennet would be more stable because there is no Lapid seeing himself as PM in waiting but again if he looses even 1 party the government falls and Bennet & Livni hate the religious. Bibi will be trapped in the middle trying to keep everybody together which won't be easy and eventually somebody will say enough is enough. So its unlikely either of those small coalitions will last much more than a year. If Bibi has a larger coalition of Lapid, Bennet, the religious and Livni no single party ( even Lapid ) can threaten to bring down the government by walking and both the religious and secular elements together will limit the political muscle either has leaving Bibi firmly in charge. That government is large enough and varied enough to last but if its any other combination we better prepare for an election within one year.

Its called desperation Bennet and Lapid are in bed together. Lapid cannot be trusted and Bennet is acting like his stooge. Bibi needs the religious because they are the only other right wing parties and whilst they are not ideal coalition partners they can be trusted. Shelly is standing firm on her refuel to join the coalition which is probably cost her so many seats at the election and if Labor were to join Bibi defiantly would need the religious to counter Shellys economic policy. Livni is there to make up the numbers because Bennet & Lapid refuse to join if the religious are there and together they would make Bibi into a puppet PM. Bibi gave Livni such a high posting although I don't understand why he has given 2 other ministries to such a small party, when he could have used them as bargaining chips with the likes of Bennet, Lapid or Labor. All this share of the burden nonsense is nothing more than popularise policy. How is drafting the haredi going to benefit the country? Is it going to stop the Iranian nuke or solve economic problems, will it make peace with the arabs? The only ones with a burden as a result of a haredi draft is the army that don't need or want them and don't want to spend a large chunk of their shrinking budget drafting these people because alot of haredi haters are obsessed with this idea of equal share of the burden.
15. Netanyahu lies again
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (02.20.13)
In December before the elections he stated that Livni would have nothing to do with negotiations with the Arab terrorists because she was so bad it. His promises last as long as an Arab's
