Her father "feared" his daughter may have fallen down a well and, lo and behold, she is found in a well.
Uncanny. What did he have, a premonition? Or knowledge of a crime?

Much derided, health and safety exists to protect people from accidents.
Falling into a well? Aren't there any safeguards, most of all for young children who might reasonably be expected to need protection?
