1. Palestinian police are always absent, salaries or not.
DR ,   UK   (02.25.13)
The suggestion that the Palestinian police, who have not received their salaries, are therefore not present on the ground to restrain the masses, is a cop-out. The Palestinian police are always conspicuous by their absence when the situation is expedient, salaries or not. Their presence is a requirement of the Oslo Accords but the world and mainstream media bend over backwards to give them a free pass.
2. Easy way out
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (02.25.13)
I blame Netanyahu just as much as I blame Abbas Both playing this stupid cat and mouse game just to do nothing Get on with it BOTH
3. Situation Volatile!!!!! because ............................
Anton ,   Jerusalem   (02.25.13)
Palestinians have 4,000+ prisionars, because a thirty years old die of a heart attacke!!! ((or under torture)) because Palestinians are living on 17% of the west bank and because 30%+ unemployment rate! because avg salary is 700 NIS (while all prices are connected to Israeli Prices which is high) because future is not clear for the youth where appartment prices are skyrocketing ((remember no Land)) because because becasue a list that never ends... please be honest to yourselves people ((Ynet please publish this))
4. recycling
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (02.25.13)
These are the same Leftist arguments presented already 20 years and endlessly recycled: surrender to Arab violence. What the Leftists are saying is that there is no point in negotiating. The Arabs will violate any agreement, and when challenged will be violent. Surrender or die, never defend yourself. As predicted by the Zionists, the only result has been dead Jews and no peace. How about trying something new? For instance, since Arafat and Abbas has abrogated Oslo by starting violence and going to the UN for recognition and US/International guarantees have proven worthless, Israel can cancel Oslo, meaning that Israel no longer recognizes the PLO as the sole representative of the Arabs. Then, start negotiating with local Arab leaders on citizenship, local autonomy or Hamas rule. React to PLO/Fatah violence against peace-loving Arabs with Obama-style tactics.
5. Uprising May Lead To Naqba
Yishai Kohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (02.25.13)
We need to make it clear that we have a zero-tolerance policy for Arab violence, and that Jenin was a walk in the park compared to what our enemies should expect should they choose violence again.
6. #4 something new ?
X   (02.25.13)
Why don't you try to Leave Palestine And take out your fanatic settlers from Palestine. It seems difficult for you to understand that this people are fighting for their freedom, for the end of the occupation of thier lives. Your hate, your racism make you blind open your eyes, it is more than obvious. During the negociations Israel has tripled the number of sttlers, how do you not understand that Abbas Will not continue any talks before you stop stealing lands And building And installing fascists on their land. Oslo accords say that the parties Will not modify the situation on earth. Israel violate the accords.
7. Waiting for the next tragedy
Avramele   (02.25.13)
One side or the other will commit a heinous act and the spiral of violence and demagoguery will begin. Negotiate, separate and go separate ways. Partition remains Israel's best option. Nothing more to be said, there are no great intellectual insights to be had. The alternative is perpetual conflict, loss of humanity on both sides and the further global isolation of Israel, from other nations and our Jewish values.
8. #7. Advocating 9 mile wide Israel is pure lunacy.
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.25.13)
It is obvious to any child, capable of reading a map, that Israel would not survive a decade if we were even idiotic enough to cede Judea and Samaria. Partition of Israel is pure lunacy. There is no sane way to advocate for 9 mile wide Israel! Anyone who advocates partition is either an Israel hater or an absolute fool.
9. Immediately end ALL Israeli support for terrorist P.A.
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.25.13)
Aren't Israelis fed up with being the biggest suckers in human history? We are the only nation, in all of human history, dumb enough to voluntarily support our enemies! Let us all rise up and put an immediate, permanent end to this sick situation. Demand an immediate end to ALL Israeli support for the genocidal, terrorist P.A. Not a gram of food. Not a shekel. Not a drop of water. Not a watt of electricity. NOTHING for the P.A.
10. They are not so enthusiastics
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (02.25.13)
as 10 years ago. Thank to the more effective mass dispersing weapons developed since then. There are the newest paralysing sprays, use them urgently against the arab bandits.
11. Response to Post#6
Dan Kelso   (02.25.13)
Learn some history, their was never in history any state called Palestine governed by Palestinians. The Arabs are all invaders from Saudi Arabia in the 7th century. When are the 1.5 million Arab settlers leaving Israel. ooooops, you forgot to mention that.
12. # 8 false choice
Avramele   (02.25.13)
Security within adjusted borders short of full occupation is supported by almost all military analysts. Dominating another people through apartheid like arrangements, not to mention expulsion, violates everything I as a Zionist was brought up to believe. With respect Chaim, before it is too late abandon your deep felt yet blind messianism and seek an eyes wide open compromise. In an age of missiles and asymmetrical warfare, borders are important but not everyhing. And no one is talking return to the 9 mile straw man.
13. To Chaim & Dan Kelso
Bertram ,   London, UK   (02.25.13)
Chaim, I presume your continual repetition is either because you have a short-term memory problem. Or, it is because you believe that if you keep doing the same thing you will eventually get a different outcome. In which case, I think you have a clinical issue. Dan, if there never was a Palestinian state there certainly wasn't a place called Saudi Arabia (a 20th century construction) in the 7th century. In fact, I rather think that in the 7th century there weren't borders of any kind in the Middle East, making the notion of invasion nonsensical. In any case, if the Arabs did come from the Arabian peninsular (rather than the existing local inhabitants becoming 'Arabised', which is probably nearer the mark) then their descendants some fourteen centuries later are no more invaders than the descendants of Angles, Saxons and Normans in present-day Britain. To quote Chaim, this is obvious to any child.
14. # 11 History ? Why not Uganda Option ?
X   (02.25.13)
Zionists had several options for a jewish state one of them was in uganda, another somewhere in South America, another one in Canada...and in Palestine. If the Uganda option was selected then then ME would be in peace now, and palestinian living in their land.
15. Abbas is playing with fire
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (02.25.13)
he risks losing all control and giving an opening for hamas to take over the territories.
16. #8 - It does NOT make any difference how wide Israel is.
spyguy ,   seattle, usa   (02.26.13)
You are living in the distant past when it comes to defense. Regardless how wide Israel is, when the war comes, it will NOT make any difference because before any opponent sets foot on Israel, Israel will be pounded by tens of thousands of missile (over 100000 per the IDF). By the time your opponents enter Israel, the country will be just one huge rubble heap with most of the people long gone to safer places. When massive war comes, Israel will probably lose, no matter what its borders are, so the BEST thing for Israel's future is DO NOT START any more wars, but learn how to live in the neighborhood you have chosen.
17. No jobs…
Colorado ,   USA   (02.26.13)
Salaries are low, education is lacking, rents high etc. because the Palestinians don't build their society. Much easier to complain and fight. It's a way of life and their only ideal. Iran is involved too and will never let things be. The destruction of the Jews in Israel has been their one goal for more than 30 years.
18. #16. Israel's width makes a HUGE difference.
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.26.13)
#16. Your claim is absurd. Try telling America, Russia, China or any other nation it doesn't matter how wide they are and that they should cede their land! You'd be lucky if you only got laughed at. Your claim is even more absurd regarding Israel. Judea and Samaria legally belong to Israel and are vital for Israel's survival. You can't convince any rational person of anything with such absurd arguments.
19. #18 Reality challenged
spyguy ,   seattle, usa   (02.26.13)
All the countries you mentioned have defined borders (and in fact Russia DID give up lots of land when the soviet union dissolved). Note also that there are many other countries that are smaller than Israel that do just fine, but they learned to live with their neighbors in peace, unlike Israel. As for the West Bank, the entire world has determined that Israel has NO LEGAL claim to the WB. No matter how loud you shout otherwise. If you think you have legal claim, take it to the UN and get a vote. Note that your political leaders will not take that to the UN because they know how badly they will lose. At best, Israel may get one vote in the UNSC and maybe five in the UNGA. Note also that if the world did give the WB to Israel, ALL the humans in the WB would become Israelis citizens. Is that what you want?
20. # 17 thought for the day.
BUILD BABY BUILD ,   United States   (02.26.13)
Interesting to note, the first Israeli's to enter Israel from escaping Egypt numbered 600,000. In 1948, that exact, 600,000 amount also entered Israel. Israel cannot fail for G-d is on her side. Watch. I do. Small in numbers mighty in force.
21. # 19 Spyguy You haven't got a clue
BUILD BABY BUILD   (02.26.13)
damn, have you dropped some facts along the way. Your absolutes' are absolutely filled with holes. Israel has every legal claim to Judea and Samaria. The pals will be moved from these areas and E. Jerusalem, don't you know anything? Apparently not. Muslim I assume? If the pals wanted those lands so badly, they had choices. 1- Negotiate with Israel. 2- end terror. Thank the G-d of Israel they did neither.... Most logical people would have considered that terror alone gets YOU terror alone. Israel has so far been gentle with the pals. So far... everyone has an end of patience. I'm pretty sure Israel has. Hope all those pals are packing.. ANNEX BABY AND BUILD BABBY BUILD !!!! ( if for no other reason it makes the pals furious but then, everything does..... )
22. 16.
Birdi ,   Israel   (02.26.13)
and you are living on cloud cuckoo. Israel will never loose, she will only gain.
23. 19.
Birdi ,   Israel   (02.26.13)
Note; G*d gave Israel Judea and Samaria. There is no higher power than the G*d of Israel. The world cannot take away what we own.
24. To No. 23
Bertram ,   London, UK   (02.26.13)
It may be a false assumption but let's treat you as an intelligent person. The problem with an assertion based on religious belief is that it is not open either to proof or disproof. Consequently, there are also counter-assertions based on alternative belief systems. Hence, the religious wars which have taken place over thousands of years. Ultimately, the superior forces won - Christian, Islamic, sometimes even Jewish. I guess each time one side won it was believed that it was down to divine intervention. The fact that you believe that on the basis of your reading of Biblical texts certain lands were given to Israel is fine but recognise that others may not read the texts in the way that you and others have done - or they may reject the texts altogether. In which case, we are back to a very simple reality: the strong defeat the weak and take the winnings. No divine justification, no legitimacy, just pure force of arms.
25. #24 Can you justify the United States of America?
A ,   Belgium   (02.26.13)
Force of arms created the United States, first by the British, French and Spanish against the Native Americans, than force of arms between the European colonists and the English monarchy. According to your arguement, the U.S.A. is illegitimite! Care to explain that to 313 million Americans? Care to discuss English history and the ongoing British attitude of "the strong defeat the weak and take the winnings. No divine justification, no legitimacy, just pure force of arms"? Don't gloat in your own self-righteousness, your history is soaked with the blood of others.
26. To No. 25
Bertram ,   London, UK   (02.26.13)
Precisely. No nation-state, including the US and the UK, is 'legitimate'. All are founded through violence. Can you cite one that hasn't been?
27. #26 -Bertram is quite correct, BUT
spyguy ,   seattle, usa   (02.27.13)
he left out the fact that the power of any group of human ebbs and flows over time, so groups of humans (states) that dominate at a given point in time are subjugated at a later point in time. This is the PROBLEM Israel has, it can dominate the Arabs at this instant of time, but it is 99% probable that the Arabs will return the favor at some point in history UNLESS Israel reaches a fair agreement with the Arabs. In the last 10000 years NO army has remained undefeated, so the IDF will eventually be defeated, then what?
28. To No. 27
Bertram ,   London, UK   (02.27.13)
Exactly. It is in the interests of nation-states to reach an accommodation with their neighbours given the long-term threat of mutual violence, even destruction. In which case there will be give and take, not because of 'friendship' , but because it is necessary for survival. The process of reaching accommodation is hard and complex but there is no alternative. The notion of eternal, total victory is a fiction.
29. To N 18, Chaim.
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (02.27.13)
Dear Chaim. You always repeat that "Judea-Samaria belong to Israel" and "are vital for her survival". I ask you to think about Arab people living in Jericho, Hamallah, Betlehem, Jenin, Bethanya and part of Hebron. They have basic rights, and Israel is a Democratic and Jewish (but not only Jewish) State. There is not another solution; two States separated by redrawed borders. We, friends of yours, do care for Israel's security, but we know it depends on the both forces; military and moral ones. Nevertheless, nothing done if the "other side" don't collaborate. Warm Salutes.
