31. Funny to read this from Noah Klieger.
Avi ,   NYC, US   (03.12.13)
" Few acts of violence by several Jewish youths do not turn entire nation into racist, bloodthirsty people." But would Noah Klieger, who made his journalistic career looking for Nazis in every street corner, come up with pearls like this: "The fact that some Lithuanians collaborated with the Nazis, should not be used to generalize against all Lithuanians, who are decent people." Or: "We should not forget that Hitler had never won the majority of the German people's votes in a free election. We should not blame all the Germans for the sins of the minority." Is it OK to generalize against Goyim but, heaven forbid, not against Jews?

israel is judaism. judaism teaches the "chosseness" and superiority. jews are taught this belief at home, in the synagogue, school and rabbis. Only occassionaly is it practiced in the open. But is there every day and often practiced against the non-jew is subtle ways.

Pales in comparison to mass murder, pogroms, blood libel and concentration camps, though, doesn't it? Not to mention six wars and seven decades of terror. Jews constitute a tiny fraction of the world's population, and have accounted for so much in the way of contributions to civilization -- all those Nobel Prizes are not figments of your imagination, nor are all the phenomenal advancements in medicine, the sciences, law and technological innovations. It would appear that the superiority which you find so offensive is borne out by the many contributions made by such a minuscule percentage of the world's population. So suck it up, and deal with your inadequacies on your own time.

I know that you do not condone racist violence on the part of Jews and you should also know that I utterly condemn the anti-Israel and antisemitic violence and indoctrination on the part of anyone - including Palestinians. Unfortunately, we cannot control the behaviour of others. We might think we can deter it or so completely defeat them militarily that such behaviour will never occur again. But as we know, when people consider themselves to be victims, however unjustifiable in our view, they will continue to resist. We do, however, have a responsibility to control our own actions and an obligation to act morally. This may not be a popular view and you may consider it to be naive, leftist, whatever. I know that if any of my loved ones were the victims of murder and violence I would not only be devastated I would be full of hatred and would want to take revenge. However, I also hope that the people around me would have the good sense to prevent me from giving way to my feelings, because that is no way to behave in a civilised society.

You won't hear from Sarah B about Ukrainian famine where during one winter 32-33 around 8-10 million peasents (a whole segment of society) was wiped out and who was behind it. You won't hear from Sarah B about Russian gulags where at least 30 million people perished and who was behind it. You won't hear from Sarah B about the Great Chinese Famine 1958–1961 with 75 million victims and who were those commie experts advising Mao on 'Great Leap' but we're reminded daily by her and her hasbara goons about this tiny minority's contributions ,...
36. What we face here daily
Lila ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.12.13)
We expect Arab violence, and thank G-d when we drive and arrive at our destinations without rocks being hurled at our heads. Even something as simple as an enjoyable afternoon of kayaking has now turned into a race war, with Arab students physically assaulting Jewish kayakers every time we meet on the Jordan River. Assaults by Arabs on Jews are also common on Mt. Hermon, and the police and managers of these sites do nothing! Time to put a stop to this, no?
37. That's false.
Brad ,   USA   (03.12.13)
Arabs and Muslims have been getting special treatment for so long they think they're untouchable. They've been victimizing non-Muslims, for centuries, and Islam says that Arabs are the most noble race on earth. So if someone is going after Arabs/Muslims because of their race, good. Let the oppressors know what it's like. "Welcome to the party, pal".
38. To: No. 35
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.12.13)
That's because the Jewish people were not responsible for any of the famines you describe, or for Russian gulags. I can, however, if you wish, recount in extraordinary detail the number of Jews who died at the hands of the Ukrainians throughout the centuries, and were brutally repressed in cruel pogroms by both Russians and Ukrainians. I can also tell you all about the suffering of the Khai Feng Jews, and the small Jewish population that sought refuge in Shanghai, and were very nearly wiped out by the Chinese. You really do not want to challenge my knowledge of history and my intellectual superiority. I'll make you cry.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.12.13)
I wrote something earlier that did not make it past the censor. I'll try again. Morality is fungible, though, isn't it? Depends on the beholder. Was it moral for the Allies to bring a swifter end to World War II by carpet bombing Germany into oblivion and causing untold misery to millions of civilians? Of course it was. It wasn't the Allies who started the conflict. Was it moral for the United States to drop two atomic weapons -- count 'em; not one, but two -- on Japan in order to force a surrender and thus avoid at least a million American casualties in an invasion of the home islands? Is it not, then, moral for Israel to take the steps necessary to protect and defend Israel's civilian population which has suffered for seven decades to Arab terrorism and Arab unfettered violence? And if a small handful of thugs engage in an outrageous attack upon a lone Arab, one cannot entirely say that it was unprovoked. Can one also say that it is right and moral to protect one's property? Turns out this not-quite-innocent Arab has a criminal record for theft, and that is exactly what the Jewish teens accused him of. I would not beat someone senseless over a mobile phone and a knapsack, but there are plenty of people who would. I think the response was disproportionate, and the law should certainly look to that. By the same token, in the unlikely event that someone were to break into my home, I would beat a hasty retreat to our "safe room," and call the police. No shortage of people who would bring out their trusty weapon, and use it. So, what's more moral: calling the police because there is an intruder in your home, or protecting your home and your family and your possessions from a thief? As I wrote -- morality is fungible. Depends on who is making the judgment. In any event, if the incident were over a simple matter of theft, then the victim's claims that the attack was nationalistically based warrant a second look, don't you think?

Bertram ,   London, UK   (03.12.13)
Well, that's all right then. We didn't cause thee events and, in any case, the Ukranians, Russians and Chinese deserved to die because of the crimes committed against the Jews. With a bit of luck all our enemies (I.e. most of the world) will suffer the same fate and we will be victorious. Paradise on Earth!

tom ,   tel aviv   (03.13.13)
of Jewish ENEMY-HATE, that is: every nation's right to despise it's sworn enemies. Especially that not being Christians, we shouldn't feel obliged to "turn the other cheek". The various outbreaks of ugly behaviour on our side have nothing to do with RACISM as such. The small number of such incidents witnesses our moral superiority, since having suffered huge crimes perpetrated by Islam/Arabs on our population, we behave almost like sheep.....

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.13.13)
I didn't say they weren't human tragedies. All I said is that the Jewish people were not responsible for any of them. Anyone that would suggest otherwise needs to be taken down a peg or two, and reminded of REAL history. Anyone that is tempted to believe the comments in Post No. 35 needs to understand that the post is the work of a demented psyche. Lose the sarcasm, Bertram. It's inappropriate in this instance and you're not very adept at it anyway.

Peter ,   USA   (03.13.13)
Jews around the world think that they must be special treated. Every nations must keep alive member about Shoah, very bad Germans, awful Poles and very good French who haven't done nothing. I think that without Holocaust Israel wouldn't be a state like many other countries. Really did Europe need the Jews in the far past. I don't think so. The most riches countries got rid them off. Why ?? Because the kings got to conclusion how the really were LOAFER
45. To Sarah B at 42
Bertram ,   London, UK   (03.13.13)
No. Earthquakes and tsunamis are tragedies. Here, we are speaking of crimes against humanity. Anyone who believes the Jews were somehow behind these events are antisemites of the highest order. However, we as Jews, precisely because of our history, should be able to empathise with the suffering of others. Constantly trumpeting our superiority doesn't make us a better people. Being eternally vigilant about our own actions might. We are human before we are Jewish. Or, perhaps, it is aiming to demonstrate that we are part of humanity as a whole which is the essence of Jewishness.

Are you serious? I went to a conference a number of years ago called "Generation After." Its purpose was to bring together the children of Jewish concentration camp survivors with the children of Nazi war criminals. One of these children of Nazi war criminals wanted us to "understand" her "pain" because her father had been sentenced to prison for war crimes and she had to grow up for ten years without him. All she remembered was a tall man who smoked a pipe and used to toss her in the air whenever he came home. On furlough from killing Jews, I guess. Keeping in mind that my parents, who are now both gone, were the sole surviving members of their rather large families -- do you blame me because I found myself unable to emphathize with the "suffering" of someone whose father went to prison for ten years? Isn't it enough that I was nauseated upon learning that her father had initially been sentenced to death, the sentence had been commuted to life imprisonment, and he ended up serving ten years. Of course, SHE never mentioned that. I did the research on my own. I guess my sympathy for the human condition just does not extend to self-pitying children of Nazi war criminals and murderous ersatz "Palestinian" terrorists. If that offends you, too bad.

Of course, if you frame your response in such a narrow and emotive manner (Nazis, terrorists) you will invite agreement with your assertions. Naturally, you evade the central issue, since you and I have entirely different perspectives on the world. No matter.

I would be more careful in taking of any of Sarah's statements for granted. Her post at 38 is a typical example of mudding the pond to get you of the subject by pointing her finger at others. To make it short having an access to internet it's easy to check and establish who was behind those genocides I listed and other atrocities like Katyn or Romanoff family massacres.

Frankly, yes. Jews were never trusted by Lenin and his ilk. The Jewish part of the Bolshevik Revolution -- called the Mensheviks -- were headed by Trotsky, and both Lenin and Stalin did their best to exterminate them all. Succeeded, too, I might add. I suggest you turn to the history of Josef Stalin if you wish to find responsibility for the vast famines and population shifts in the 1930s. Or you can choose to continue to clothe yourself in your cloak of Jew-hatred. Your reasons are irrelevant, because your grasp of history and factual accuracy are tenuous at best.

Oh, I beg to differ. You are the one who evades the central issue. And then, predictably enough, being unable to answer my questions, you accuse me of framing my points in a narrow and emotional (not "emotive") manner. That makes you a phony, to the core.

The Jews had nothing to do with Katyn, and had nothing to do with the murder of the Tsar and his family. For you to suggest otherwise is just another of your blood libels. Who was responsible for the mass murders of Jews in the Ukraine and in Russia over a period of several thousand years? Who was responsible for the murder of Jews at Babi Yar? The blood libels of which the Polish people were so fond? Who was responsible for the murder of the Jewish community of Kielce, who tried to return home following the war, and who were massacred, wholesale, in 1946? You live in a glass house, spit. Best not throw stones. You're also an idiot.

Matvei Berman and Naftaly Frenkel, founders of Gulag labor camp system with their buddy Lev Inzhir a commissar of Soviet Gulag camps transit and administration. Firin, Rappoport, Kogan, Zhuk, commissars of camps and slave labor, supervised the construction of the Belomorsk Canal and other projects responsible for at least another 30 million worked/starved to death "enemies of the revolution" and that's the tip of the iceberg in Soviet killing industry not to mention the relocation of whole nations like Crimean Tatars to hostile parts of Soviet Union to get rid of them and make a room for their homies. To have a control over post WWII Hungary Stalin installed a regime (just like in any other Soviet dominated countries) run almost entirely by Jews. At the top of Communist terror machinery Matyas Rakosi, Ernest Gero, Michael Farkas and Joseph Revai. The AVH, a Hungarian equivalent of the NKVD the bloodiest enterprise ever created , was headed by Gabor Peter also a Jew. Their departments were staffed by their fellow trusted Jews creating a situation that eventually lead to an uprising and national tragedy in '56. So goes for post WWII Poland, Czechoslovakia, and on, and on ,...

The issue is not about you or Nazis or 'ersatz' Palestinian terrorists. It is about the character of Israel - a civilised and decent society or one which you would like it to be? And, incidentally, when I used the word 'emotive' that is precisely what I meant - rhetoric appealing to the emotions. To be honest, I couldn't care less about your own mental state.

Bill   (03.14.13)
is true. Sarah B would be more persuasive if she was candid about Jewish history. Every people has a tendency to think it has a monopoly on virtue. Growing up involves coming to terms with the fact that one's people is no more nor less virtuous than most other peoples. It's also what makes you bearable to be around. Sarah B probably has many fine points. She is an excellent writer, for example. But her output will never be worth reading until she learns intellectual honesty.
