5. We Must Avoid Future Tragedy By Knowing What Happened
Chaim Ben Kahan ,   Efrat, Israel   (03.14.13)
The article seems to contradict what occurred. "According to a police statement, it seems the child was killed by his father when he reversed the car, unaware that the former had exited the vehicle. " and "Rosh Ha'Ayin Police Commander Brigadier General Ratzon Peretz said that the father assumed the child was already in the house and hence began to back the car up." I think the difference is important in order to prevent a similar tragedy from occurring. Baruch Dayan Emet.

"I am assuming from article that this happened to a Arab family.. Hence the reason for #1's compassion. I'm pretty certain you are possessed with hate, and completely unaware you just made a fool of yourself. More pertinently, a true tragedy. The family must be devastated. My condolences. But, I have to admit I can't understand how an 18 month old can step off a car without falling. Perhaps the kid exited with another adult who let the kid roam not realizing the dad intended to move the car? I hope that's not the case as it would add to the pain.

Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (03.14.13)
There is nothing that can be said to this family to console them. But I hope that they have a lot of family and friends who will not leave their side while they mourn...and afterwards. And, Ahmad, thank you for your kind words.

I repeat what I said in a previous post. Child safety locks. Makes it impossible for a child to open the car door unless released by the driver. Tons of questions, of course. Was the child in a car seat? Should have been. Strapped into his car seat. But, in the event that a clever eighteen-month old knows how to release the restraints on his car seat, you get child safety locks to protect the child from opening the car door. I do not care if this child was Jewish, Arab or martian. With a bit of care, this needless and tragic death could have been avoided. Isn't that really all that matters?
