Golden Dawn is a warning for the few Jews living in Greece to leave. It should be quite evident that under the present economic situation that it will strike out and cause violence towards Jews. My family understood that and left that miserable country 60 years ago.

Sadly post WWII, Greece has an ever-increasing intermarriage rate of 65%. By 2025, there won't be any authentic Jews left living in Greece. Synagogue attendance by youth is nil.

The answer is Israel.

Your comment is indeed offensive to the Greek people who a. welcomed the Shepardic Jews in their country from Spain, b. hid them and fed them in their homes, basements and attics during the Nazi occupation. When your family left "sixty years ago", post WWII era, Greece was again ravaged with Roussian communists vying to turn the blue country red. An equally horrifying era to the Nazi occupation. Can you name a country which was not "miserable" during that era? Regarding the Golden Dawn, it is an unfortunate and undesirable symptom of a suffering and resentful society due to the ills brought by the out of control illegal migration of Asians from 3rd world countries and from the equally massive importation of criminal elements from ex-eastern-bloc Balkan nations, i.e. Bulgarians, Yugoslavs, Romanians etc... Fortunately, their psyche does not represent that of the majority of the people of Greece. We are not a "miserable" nation and or a "miserable" people but rather we have been recently brought to that point due to circumstances out of our control. Thank you for understanding. What is an authentic Jew . Is it a Jew who is based on on the 19 th century stetl model or an earlier version going back a few thousand years? I would not accept the answer a Jew who believes in Torah without question as the vast majority have asked questions and that makes them more more authentic than those who don't or cant.

The authenticity of a Jew is one born to a Jewish mother. You respond like the 4th Son. The Jews know more about the best pork gyro in town than they do of Torah. People with Jewish last names had only Jewish fathers & now they have Xmas trees in their homes. The synagogues are empty on Yom Kippur barely a minyan. The smell of a freshly smoked cigarettes are on many people clothes. There is no one to ask question too as there is no observant leadership. After services non-kosher refreshments are served with the rabbi approving & eating. People are unable to read Hebrew or speak Ladino. Youth are no where to be found on Sabbaths & Holidays. Over the weekends, the young women are in pubs drinking alcohol & dancing with non-Jewish guys. Local kosher foods are non-existent so they imported from Israel as no one cares enough to observe kashrut. The community is unwelcoming to outsider as they were never taught manners to invite in their fellow Jews. There are no bilingual prayerbooks or bibles. The communities will disappear by 2025 and there will be no one there that will even know what Kaddish is all about.
