GF ,   Jerusalem   (03.18.13)
Baruch Hashem, at least we have our Jewish priorities, that is, Pesach and our families are a lot more important then the Obama-Traffic Jam show.
2. It's a Business Trip.
Mark of Lewiston ,   USA   (03.18.13)
Nobody in the US expects anything of the trip. Nobody thinks there will be any breakthrough on peace. On the other hand, it looks to some in the US that a war will be demanded of the US. Why would anybody get excited over that either in Israel or the US?
3. I dont trust Obama on doing a 180 like this. It screams
hipocrates ,   earth   (03.18.13)
politics not sincerity. Theres concern that he is not as fully committed to our well being as he is to the state department's Arab-Muslim oil-loving wellbeing...
4. The Visit
happysettler   (03.18.13)
I think I rather have the pope and his pope mobile- than this Osama Mama, clogging up our roads when I'm trying to do my Shabbos shopping- total chutzpah!!
5. He did not even wish to address the Knesset. Who wants him
Alan ,   SA   (03.18.13)
Addressing the Knesset might be interpreted as recognition of Israel.
6. Sadat stood before the Knesset and spoke of peace
A ,   Belgium   (03.18.13)
Chancellor Merkel stood before the Knesset and "expressed "shame" over Germany's role in the Holocaust (using, I believe, the Hebrew word Shoah)." Obama can't bring himself to say anything before the Knesset. That says enough about how he envisions Americas' relationship with Israel.
7. what does it bother you?
ecr   (03.18.13)
We don't need him telling us what to do. If he wants to support us, fine, if not, latitraot.
8. Straight to the point!
lidia ,   Rishon Lezion   (03.18.13)
As if you had guessed what I've been thinking since the official announcement of his arrival. Nothing will change in our country and Mr. Obama won't change his attitude either. Excellent article!

dr harry ,   Jerusalem   (03.18.13)
or recognition that Jerusalem is the Capital Of Israel. What a waste of Taxpayers money.
10. While Americans may not see
Paul ,   Jerusalem   (03.18.13)
what they got as a President, Israelis certainly do. The litmus test of a leader's value, is how they react to obvious evil. Obama is an appeaser, a weak, ideologically obsessed man, (also a liar as to what he represents) who can't distinguish between truth and fantasy.. A true leader for the 'Progressives to nowhere' International crowd,
11. Maybe a case of too little too late? (End)
Raoul ,   Herzliya Israel   (03.18.13)
12. We don't believe him.
Israeli ,   Haifa   (03.18.13)
He is just a total fake. Go away Obama!
13. Pesach trumps "rock star"
ASTRONAUT ,   SC, USA   (03.18.13)
Kol Ha Kavod Israel and Israelis for keeping this "visit" in perspective. Preparations for Pesach, devotion to The Commandments, time with family, all trump the ego, the hype, and the pomp of this circumstantial event.

Harold ,   USA   (03.18.13)
President Obama did not want to address the Knesset because some of its members represent the occupied Palestinian lands The United States and all the world excluding Israel recongnize the Israeli 1948 borders only.
15. hard to get excited about the first step
Rube Vogel ,   Jerusalem   (03.18.13)
In too many ways, the average Israeli housewife, taxi driver or highschool student understand the Arab/Israeli conflict far more deeply and more correctly than President Obama. His long overdue visit is a nice first step towards understanding, but it is still only a first step.
16. I didn't invite Obummer.
Wise Saba ,   Western Negev   (03.18.13)
In fact I'm very choosy whom I invite & let into my house & my country, he's not wanted.
17. Obama, go away. We don't love you.
lucifer 69 ,   Tel Aviv   (03.18.13)
Fact you never loved us or our govrn'ment. You should thank Candy Crowley for making you president by accepting your lies.
18. Fantasy
michael Pielet ,   israel   (03.18.13)
The writer of this article is a true fantasizer trying to meet a newspaper deadline.
19. Obama
Alan burton ,   Mirfield England   (03.18.13)
It isn't just Israelis who are ambivalent about Obama.any right minded person would have preferred anyone other than he as President. A poor campaign by the GOP handed the White House to him. The same happened in Israel, a poor Likud campaign and yet another collision coalition.
20. why o why?
tiki ,   belgium   (03.18.13)
Maybe because of his past? Maybe because of his Cairo & other speeches? Maybe because of his (mis)behaviour toward an Israeli PM? Maybe because not inviting Ariel students? Maybe because his wife didn't feel like coming? Or maybe his 'itinerary is just to politically correct to be considered a ''friend.
21. He waited a long time to go. Maybe too long
Arnold ,   Canada   (03.18.13)
I know for the beginning of his 1st term was filled with domestic problems and he needed to take care of the early. But he did travel to the area to visit Arab / Muslim countries. So if he had the time for them .......... .
22. Let's face it huh! The trip is an afterthought.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (03.18.13)
A parable: A man had a banquet and invited everyone he considered as important. When they all had their fill and left, he called those outside his gate and said, "Come in my FRIENDS, and partake of the leftovers." To me, this visit is an insult. It should have been made when it mattered the most. Now, for him, it is a matter of - "I had better get it over and done quickly because I have no excuse, having gotten a second term. One less criticism to deal with later on. Oh yes, I'll address the children. That should put the adults in their places."
23. #11 Yes a first term friendly visit might have been useful.
Bob K ,   Orlando USA   (03.18.13)
Hhe is visiting the region and can't ignore Israel or the PA plus he must talk about Iran. The Israeli public knows not to expect much.
24. I always believed Obama pro Israel
Amir Chocoman ,   Pulimar Kineret   (03.18.13)
but in the last year when Erdogan would incite against us, threaten us with war, and on the world stage delegitimize Israel and Zionism. and ive watched a few Jay Carney white house press briefings through the internet and he has mentioned numerous times that Obama communicates with Erdogan once a week, sometimes twice a week, probably making Erdogan Obama's closest friend in the internationalcommunity. and I've wondered if Obama Secretly eggs Erdogan on, because for some reason, Obama never ever publicly condemns Turkey from saying such things. I couldn't care less, but it's another [too-likely-an-Obama-so-whatsa-whatsa-scenario] some-a-dem-comma-likely and some-a-demm don't alike me.....amir shamir coming to you live from Belarus diggie, glitch-sum-crunk sf internet radio from the after(burn) [burning man/the do lab stage]
25. How the Children of avraham aveinu show hospitality
Avramele   (03.18.13)
Right. Let's invite him so we can grumble and second guess his every move and word tell him to toe the line on Iran, Pollard, and settlements. Then insist on him speaking at the Knesset where more than half will sit in Total silence, not show or walk out so we can compare it to the staged Republican rally engineered for Bibi in congress. This trip can turn into a PR disaster, not for Obama, but for Israel back in the states. Hasbara gang that can't.
26. To All Commentators
Harold ,   USA   (03.18.13)
President Obama helped Israel more than any other US Presidents but he respects and honors the International Laws and feels that no one is above the law.
27. Not surprising
Aharon   (03.18.13)
This is a trip so that Obama can tick off that he's been to Israel and that his detractors can't use that as an argument against his lack of support for Israel. Israelis can see right through this. If Obama cared for Israel as much as his claims, he would've visited Israel in his first term and not ignore it for all the Arab countries. Also, Obama himself said not to expect much on this trip, so why should Israelis be excited if Obama is not going to be excited for being in Israel?
28. IDIOTIC TIMING
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (03.18.13)
Who in his right frame of mind came up with the timing of this visit of such an unpopular president. Besides that many Israelis are not fooled by this glib show man pretending to be a statesman. What about wasting over 15 million shekelsof our tax money for this useless performance. No matter how much our leaders will bow their noses down to the ground in order to grovel for your highnes Obama, he still will not like us one bit more. Most of us know that in the end he will throw us under bus, whenever the oppertunity presents itself. He should stay home and take care of his own country first.
29. yawn, Obama who?
ma nishma ,   modiin   (03.18.13)
I just have to remember not to go into Jerusalem on Wednesday Thurs and Friday, I don't need the agravation of traffic messes. But really, perhaps he will see our situation and realize what life is like here. Maybe, but most likely not.
30. Obama's visit
R. Bros ,   Rehovot, Israel   (03.18.13)
Who called for Obama to visit--only the media. The general public did not. Let's not confuse the media with anything approaching the real situiation.
