1. Amen, Avigdor.

Turkey should get 9 medals with Charles Darwin's portrait on them, and no more.
2. "Apology"
Jon S. ,   Virginia, USA   (03.26.13)
While I empathize with much of what Lieberman is saying, let's be real. Everyone from Israel to Turkey and elsewhere knows exactly why Israel "apologized." Not because Israel felt it was wrong or had a need to reconcile with Turkey on these grounds. No, Israel "apologized" for one reason only: because it's #1 ally, the USA, implored it to based on USA interests. When we consider what Israel may soon be needing to ask of the USA, I'd call that a bargain. The bottom line: relax, everyone - this is the "apology" that everyone knows wasn't really.
3. This shows the difference between...
Gunnar ,   Gothenburg, Sweden   (03.26.13)
...Lieberman and Netanyahu. The latter would probably agree with every word written in this text, but as soon as president Obama snapped his fingers... Avigdor Lieberman means what he says. Bibi Netanyahu says what he thinks - until someone tells him to think something else
4. Lieberman is so funny :)

5. Apology
Leonard ,   Green River, USA   (03.26.13)
Once again Leiberman like the rest of his gang seeks sympathy & loyalty to & for the commandos to cover up the stupidity of the politicians & chief of staff who ordered the commando strike on the Mamara. Every thinking Israeli knows that there were far better options available to enforce the blockade to prevent military supplies from reaching the strip. Turkey was not only a major strategic ally in the Middle East, but also a major customer of Israeli hi-tech military products & services. To put all that in jepordy in favor of a macho raid on the Mamara, as if it was a ship from some bannana republic, demonstrates stupidity at the highest level of the government. As for the commandos, they are the very best of our best, and absolutely blameless in that fiasco. God bless them & protect them from all their enemies foreign & dsomestic.
6. ayalon and liberman
marv   (03.26.13)
lieberman laid out his arguments for not apolgoizing to erdogan beautifully and logically. Ayalon who likes to act tough agreed with the apology because he has no fibre, along with b ibi and livni, no fiber whatsoever. The apology is worht nothing, turkey is not a reliable ally and I would count on assad more than erdogan because so far syria has intitmidated turkey and made them run crying to nato. The fact of the matter is lieberman who is unfairly attacked by the gas chamber media of i srael, is one of the few brave israelis left along with bennet and feiglin. Bibi is gutless pure and simple, livni is ignorant to t he extreme, peres is deluded with grandiose visions(why are they firing rockets from gaza), beilin is an utter failure, olmert and ramon-asskissing cowards, barak talks tough but runs to make concessions to turkey and egypt. Half of israel is sick with cowardice still after the holocaust! I would not beleive one word comiing out of the mouth of ayalon!
7. Truth always hurts......
David ,   Montreal,Canada   (03.26.13)
but without truth there will never be trust. For that I respect you Mr. Leiberman
8. Well said, Col HaCavod
I ,   USA   (03.26.13)
Well said, Col HaCavod
9. #5 Leonard, the stupidity is yours
Sidney ,   USA   (03.26.13)
Erdogan sent the ship to prove that Turkey was powerful enough to break the Gaza blockade. It is part of the stated Turkish goal to establish hegemony over the old Turkish empire. Lieberman is right and you are dead wrong.
10. #2, Jon, there is no bargain
Jake   (03.26.13)
Obama and Turkey got what they wanted, and Israel got nothing out of it except humiliation. Turkey has not and will not respond positively to Israel's apology, and Obama will not prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. You know it, so don't waste words.
11. amen
marcel   (03.26.13)
liberman, bennett, even lapid, feiglin have conviction and fiber. Bibi has good intentions but is an insecure almost coward in his outlook. He cannot look at obama and say no. Bibi was responsible for the marmora because he ran to new york and left barak in total charge of the operation and barak bungled it with his paintball instructions and lack of intelligence. Not only that, barak did not bring yaalon fully into the operational details. Bibi misjudged barak just like olmert misjudged peretz or as mo faz misjudged halutz, an air force general who was absolutely incompetent as chief of staff to this day. If you listen to his words, you would ask how the hell could he have gotten to such a position. It is clear that half of israel are brave stalwarts, liberman represents the half brave ones. The other half consists of cowards fearful of their shadows and that included many journalists like haber and barnea, olemrt number one along with now bibi and beililn academia with their endless bs rationalizations echoed by the US academic ignoramuses of ross, kurtzer and rice.
12. A Man Who Tells It Like It Is
Brett ,   Florida   (03.26.13)
Sometimes the truth hurts, this time too. Great article Mr. Lieberman. For those who think obama will help Israel in the time of need, get ready to be hurt some more. He will not.
13. Of course Lieberman is right !
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (03.26.13)
14. #9 Dead Wrong?
Leonard ,   Green River, USA   (03.26.13)
Maybe, time will tell. But Sidney I do know something about dying that I learned in Vietnam in 67-68 and again along the Suez Canal in Oct. 1973 because I've seen guys I served with being killed because of bold politicians making stupid decisions behind their desks. If the PM was a good soldier in his youth that doesn't make him a brilliant stratagist today. Maybe I'm suffering from one of those "syndromes" that the press likes to write about, so be it. But in the meantime I will continue to express my opinions wherever & whenever I please. Oh yeah, my sabarit wife who was dodging artillery rounds on the Golan in Oct. 73 told me to "go for it". That, 9 pills a day, my cardiologist, and my dictionary, will keep me talking and writing about what I KNOW about.
15. #5 did you read selectively?
Thessalonian ,   Canada   (03.26.13)
Well said Mr. Lieberman! The half hearted, meaningless and coersed apology did in fact accomplish appeasing the americans who in turn are so keen on appeasing and using the Turks by using others. Furthermore, Turkey's islamist Erdogan and cohorts are continueing their barkfull rantings, boastings and braggings on daily basis. As the article pointed out tersly and accurately, Erdogan's hatred towards Israel started long before the provocation flotilla fiasco. Furthermore his love affair and courting with Hamas is rather provocative if not nauseating, to say the least. A web visit to Hurriyet's and or Zaman's sites will in fact confirm the latter. Mr. Netanyahu's fake apology has been viewed by a great number of Middle East politics followers as demeaning, damaging and or degrading to Israel's image abroad and morale within. Regards
16. Exelent !!!.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (03.26.13)
And by the Way - "Israel will gain nothing in the Physical Realm or on the Battleground by this Apology". Obams Thought and Policy regarding this will also Fail. Arn.Sweden.
17. Tzidkat Haderech
Yoel ,   Mizpe Ramon, Israel   (03.26.13)
i mostly do not agree with the ideas of Avigdor Liebermann, however in this opinion, he wrote, I fully agree with him.
18. #9,#15 - you missed # 5's point
Lemmings Hotline ,   sd usa   (03.26.13)
Wake up , there is a cover up of PR screwup of mass proportions. Even if their are anti-Semitic rants on the other side and they , admittedly sent the ships to provoke, we don't need to be provoked. We got caught with our pants down. Our enemies exploited an inherent weakness in our coastal shipping administration. Israel needs a Coast Guard that has non lethal solutions - just like any police force. Israeli public needs to start recognizing this and demand this from the politicians or it will be repeated.
19. #5 Leonard, it seems you haven't read this article

"The long debate was not unworthy of the emotions aroused and issues at stake. I remember well when I said 'We have sustained a total and unmitigated defeat' the storm which met me ...There was widespread and sincere admiration for Mr. Chamberlain's persevering and unflinching efforts to maintain peace..." 22. #18
Thessalonian ,   Canada   (03.26.13)
You mean #5 had a point to make without having read the article? By the way, it is difficult to phathom how you can blab about an non lethal coastguard when the terrorist thug provocautors aboard the illintentioned turkish boat were so close to killing a few of your soldiers. Obviously you haven't watched the video and or read the UN Palmer/Uribe report instigated at Turkey's request and subsequently rejected by the latter in view of its findings. How can it be that you are so opinionated and uninformed at the same time? Mr. Lieberman is right on the money on this one and has many on his camp. Regards

24. Not only we apologized as we also
Keren, IL-BR   (03.26.13)
we'll lift the blockage. And will pay huge amounts to the families. And will do whatever Erdogan and Obama ask us to do.. because we became a country isolated and weak. Just compare Israel and Turkey and everybody will see who counts more for geopolitical and economics reason...
25. #s 19 & 22
Leonard ,   Green River,USA   (03.26.13)
Yes I did read the article, and tho I make no claim to expertise in Hebrew, that's my wife's job, English is my native language. I do believe I can read an article and discern what is being revealed, what is being concealed, and what is being obfuscated. During my lifetime I've come to know enough ambitous & self serving politicians & generals up close & personal to make me worry about decisions coming out of the pentagon & the knesset. Every single one of our nieces & nephews have served, and some still serve in Zahal. Every single one of our sons & grandsons have served & one still serves in the US Army. I never worried about any of them. Everyone of them will do his, or her duty, what worries me is the level of leadership coming from the very top. And in the case of the Maramara fiasco, that leadership demonstrated stupidity. Now I've said all I'm going to say on this subject.
26. Tzidkat Haderech
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (03.26.13)
obama knows nothing about "tzidkat haderech." all obama knows about is his irrational infatuation with muslims in general, and with arab palestinians in particular.
27. Excellent article!!!

28. the old song--
arne ,   chicago usa   (03.26.13)
"you got to give a little" really applies here. so give him what he wants--what's it cost? only money. nothing really changes. we know he's a jerk-off. so what. obama asked bibi to do this and it's o.k.. turkeys a n a t o member and israels got lots of ousvarves in the neighborhood. the old adage still applies "the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
