31. To: No. 10
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.28.13)
No, but we could conceivably go for Syria and Antalya. (Only kidding, of course, but don't think we couldn't do it if we wanted to ....)
32. To nr 30 Sarah
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (03.28.13)
Personally I have no problems, because both my parents name are on the birth certificate of the Budapest Israelite Religious Community. But to be a jew must be some wider definition, if we want to survive. My third point would be to practice the jewish religion, in addition the previous two ones. Messianistc jews are not jews of course in my eyes, too.
33. Unfortunately I will not advise to any of my Jewish
olim hadashim ,   tel aviv/israel   (03.28.13)
friends to come here unless hopelessly idealistic.
34. Anton #10
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (03.28.13)
If you can fit 25 Million into Istanbul only that was stolen from Greeks in 1453 another 6 million Jews can easily fit to only Tel Aviv. Not only Israel never stole any land but unilaterally pulled out of Gaza taking all the Jewish population out of their homes in Gaza. If Arabs were peaceful and recognize the Jewish state as their neighbors they will have their peaceful independent (yet another Arab) state in WB and Gaza. It is only up to them.
35. #30 Sarah Messianic Jews can still be Jews
Vlad   (03.28.13)
If a Messianic Jew is born to Jewish parents, he or she is Jewish for life, even if he becomes the pope.
36. #28 Anton
Maurice ,   Montreal   (03.28.13)
" Israel is surrounded by hostile countries and sooner or later they will unite I am aware Israel is strong country." Anton, check back in history. What you say already happened more than once. In 48, 67 and 73 countries hostile surrounding Israel united to destroy Israel. And what happened? Do you need a reminder? :)
37. anton @ 10, Israel is 500 km long and Gaza is 40 km long.
leo ,   usa   (03.28.13)
If Israel will not be able to accommodate 12M Jews, then taking Gaza will not help either. Anton, you need to learn how to think.
38. #3 The figures already take that into account
Jake   (03.28.13)
It's in the article. The number of Jews is over 6 million. And there are 350,000 non-Arab Christians and "others". Moreover, your contention that Israelis outside of Israel are being counted in the census is an utter falsehood and propaganda, as is your bogus claim that citizenship is being "forced" on outsiders. The numbers being counted are Israelis IN Israel, NOT outside.
39. Anton to Alsky etc.
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (03.28.13)
1. You are saying that nuclear arms in the hands of Iran would be dangerous risking the entire Jewish race if they would all move to Israel. So you agree that Iranians are not rational enough under the Mullahs to have these dangerous arms. this is the root cause then why make Jews/Israelis pay the price? Isn't it the right thing to fix the root cause and destroy Iran's capability of having nuclear arms? 2. Israel will not lose the lobby. Some of the strongest Israeli lobbyists in USA are Christians. They will continue to do so.
40. Defending Aliyah and a 21st century Jewish identity
Avramele   (03.28.13)
1. In my opinion and that of many others a Jew is a person with Jewish family connections who identifies with our People and prepared to share our collective fate. Those who hold to outdated halachic definitions can set up private genealogical registries for their marriage purposes but don't tell me who does and does not belong at my Seder table. 2. There is plenty of room for Aliyah within the green line. Aliyah remains both viable and a best practice for many. Keep em coming. It only reinforces Obama's zionist message that Israel is here to stay as a Jewish state and not going anywhere. 3. The Russian Aliyah of the 90's was and remains a blessing to Israel. I may not vote like them but they are an important part of our Jewish future.
41. #3 Olim are Jews by law of return!!
another Jake ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.29.13)
The fact that some dude in a dress decided that you need to prey standing on one foot touching your nose shouldn't change this. Hopefully the "new politics" will finally separate religion from the state. You can be a proud Jew by nationality, culture and heritage. Nothing to do with what halacha says!

bob W ,   West Allis, USA   (03.29.13)
I would totally agree to your statement Yosef. I am looking forward to seeing The Third Temple built, and Jewish People start worshiping there the Holy One of Israel. It will be awesome, and the sight even beyond imagination. Amen
43. #38 - Those are the stats to be wary of!
Jake in Jerusalem ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.31.13)
Of the Russian "Jews" who are considered Jewish by Israeli law, hundreds of thousands are not actually Jewish. They also do not identify themselves as Jewish. Some are even devout Christians and even Muslims - I have met them. And they are PAID to come on "Aliya"! Furthermore, citizenship *IS* forced on people. It happened to me! Israeli law states that children of Israeli citizens are FORCED to accept citizenship, even if they are born overseas, have never been in the country, haven't asked for citizenship and don't even want it. It's all about pretending that Israel is a Jewish state when most Jews prefer living Jewish lives elsewhere. Israel is in reality a militantly secular state. This allows it to redefine "Jew" as loosely as the statistics demonstrate.
44. #8 Israel already accommodates most of world Jewry
Leah ,   Seattle   (09.07.13)
It's befitting that there are six million Jews home. Now it's time for the rest of us. G-d will enlarge our tents.
