1. The whole world calls them rebels,
Gabor ,   Budapest, Hungary   (04.10.13)
only Assad calls them terrorists. And he's right.
2. Israel's new neighbours?
Get Real ,   UK   (04.10.13)
At least forewarned is forearmed. Hope for the best but plan for the worst. These rebels are committed to the destruction of Israel and when Asssad is deposed will turn their attention to terror against Israel.
3. Watch and See
Paul ,   Jerusalem   (04.10.13)
how conveniently the West makes excuses to continue aiding these beasts. As in all International policies, Governments go with the winner, and abandon the loser, no matter how morally compromised one becomes. Israel is being abandoned, not because of occupation or aggression, but because its resolve to do the necessary (and we all know what that means) has been compromised.
4. one question only
arne ,   chicago usa   (04.10.13)
does obama know this? I'll bet he doesn't cause nobody told him, and if that be the case he'll probably arrange for a meeting with the new "administration" and extend his good wishes, you know a hug and big smile.
5. Obama's rebels???
ASTRONAUT ,   SC, USA   (04.10.13)
Is this the same rabble of "rebels" that our beloved Hussein Obama has been arming and "training?"
6. Syrian rebels are Obama's proxy army against Israel
Dan ,   USA   (04.10.13)
The US openly arms and trains the faceless group known as the Syrian rebels. The same "rebels" are now stationed along Israel's northern border, where they regularly fire on IDF positions. Why does the US support Israel's enemies, right under Israel's nose? The answer is that Obama uses the manufactured Syrian opposition as a proxy army against Israel, to extract concessions and to try to weaken and ultimately destroy Israel. He smiles to Israel's face while holding a knife to her throat.
7. Russia was right about Lybia and Syria.
Abu Yousuf el Dugri   (04.10.13)
8. @5, 6
AY ,   Detroit   (04.10.13)
Yes, it's all Obama's fault forever and ever. He invaded Iraq. He started the revolutions all across the Middle East. He puts the blood of babies in his matzah. Is there anything in your life for which you don't blame Obama?
9. To all talkbackers.
DavidR ,   USA   (04.10.13)
I started to write a response to #8, then I realized the blind can't read.
10. Whose fault is this? Our own.
Mark ,   Cleveland USA   (04.10.13)
The mortal enemy of Israel, Assad, is on the ropes and the rebels are begging for assistance. What do Israel and America do? nothing. So the Muslims Jihadis come to their aid and a friendship is born. Should the rebels reject aid from a willing donor because it might upset the useless neighbors next door? They did what anyone would do in those circumstances. We had an opportunity to build a bridge with the fledgling new Syria next door, and we passed. The truth is probably that Israel wants Assad to remain so that Syria will continue to be a dictatorship. Better for us. More stable. What happened to us? we used to be nice people.
11. #8 Unfortunately he did a lot of stupid things
mira ,   Vienna   (04.10.13)
in his first term and is obviously continuing to do so, look at Egypt, Syria, Palestinians, Turkey! Sorry, what is true is true!
12. #8 AY
Edwin ,   Canada   (04.10.13)
Things in Syria may not seem all that bad to someone from the murder capital, Detroit. Nevertheless, for the rest of us decent people, Obama's material support for the "rebels", which a cursory investigation reveals as having deep terrorist ties, will obviously have a negative impact upon free peoples everywhere.
13. #10
Get Real ,   UK   (04.11.13)
Do you think the rebels would have warmed to Israeli help, bearing in mind the re-action to them that would be generated from the Arab world, Iran and Turkey. Israel did the best thing by staying out and letting them sort themselves out. At least Israel cannot be blamed for the tens of thousands dead. Any terror activities against Israel by a new Syrian regime will be answered most strongly.
14. compromised, #3?
Cameron ,   USA   (04.11.13)
You are obliged to elaborate upon that term, #3. You couch an overall Israeli hesitation, apathy, or inability to effectively act within that grand flip take of "compromised"? Speak up.
15. Obedience to al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri
Beary White ,   Norway   (04.11.13)
Then the western countries are supporting al Queda with weapon and support. Does Syria have oil???? Was it just personal to kill bin Laden??
