The Osprey has been a problem since it was first flown. A few have crashed with loss of life. It is a very useful aircraft though.
2. @ 1
Sheik Rattle & Roll ,   USA   (04.19.13)
The Osprey has been around for almost 20 years. It is a revolutionary aircraft that had a few problems as expected when your testing a new design and concept. It has performed almost flawless in Afghanistan and Iraq and Israel should be happy that the US agreed to sell the plane. Now if it was the F-22 that was being sold I would be pissed because that plane is 20 years ahead of anything in the world today.
3. not impressed with choices of purchase
zionist frever   (04.19.13)
The Osprey is more expensive that the Super Sea Staliaon helicopters which Israel had been weighing it up against to replace its current generation of Sea Stallions coming to an end of their service life. The Osprey has been one problem after another for the US and its just not the sort of plane Israel needs, its good for the US wanting something with a longer range and probably less susceptible to things like the strong wind they might find in the middle of the ocean based on a carrier but for Israel and its small borders its a luxury we don't need. I certainly don't see how the Osprey is going to help us against Iran because its not a fighter or a bomber. The KC 35 is a waste because its based on the Boeing 707 which they stopped making in the 60s. These would have to be surplus US planes which are now in the process of being replaced and because of their age will probably have alot of miles on the clock. Israel also has tankers already, they are planes we bought off the shelf and converted because the US has never agreed to sell Israel tankers but if we are going to now be buying dedicted tankers why one earth are we buying a Boeing 707 surplus? At a time when the budget is being slashed the army should be going for systems that are still going to be operational decades from now and are good value for money and a second hand 707 based tanker and expensive plane which does a job a heavy lift helicopter can do just as well for less money is also not good value for money Buy the radars and missiles but why not other things like heavy lift helicopters rather than the V22 and either a new plane to convert to a tanker or the new US tanker which is designed to replace the KC35
4. We are not things. We are not a merchandises
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (04.19.13)
I have been posting from London to Deli to Jerusalem about my views on Israel/US relationship and I have been saying that it is a pornographic relationship. My dear Netanyahu should not go to bed with such dirty gamers because our wellbeing, our lives, our dignity have been robbed under these games. Bennett for PM ,now .That´s my demand!Enough of dirty games at the expense of our people!
5. USA $$$'s Israel Agrees How2 Spend?
Jersey Jew ,   New Jersey, USA   (04.19.13)
Curious, is this Israel's agreement as2how 2spend American taxpayer dollar$? If so, odd that we Americans negotiate with Israel how they will spend the dollar$ we give them over many decades. Seems we can simply say if you want this or that we'll finance it 4you without connected insider negotiations, eh? If not, ok ...
6. Military Industrialised Complex

7. and exactly how much is this going to cost us
frank ,   rehovot   (04.19.13)
what additional concessions are we going to have to make in the name of "obama peace". Why are we so stupid to as to sell out ourselves? Why do we continue to make the same mistakes? Why are we so afraid to claim our rightful place among nations? Why is a gov't full of cowards and why did we electe them? what the hell is wrong with us?
8. US has been capitalizing Jews´ sufferings
Cipollina Korn ,   Zoom +   (04.19.13)
and this is a monstruous behaviour. No decent Israeli politician should play such games ,and if anyone does ,he/she should be vomited out by Israel ASAP.
9. Why V 22s ?
Get Real ,   UK   (04.19.13)
While a potential threat from Iran exists I can see the need for the purchases being made. Except wondering in what scenario the V22 would be used that cannot be carried out by existing resources. Syria,Jordan,Sinai,Lebanon?

zionist forever   (04.19.13)
There doesn't seem to be any logic in acquiring the V22. Israels borders are so small they only need helicopters ( which are cheaper ). The V22 is not a fighter jet or a bomber nor is it a stealth plane just a transporter no point. Seems to me to be an expensive luxury Israel has no real need of and that money could have been better spent on other types of plane or on helicopters because the current generation of Sea Stallion heavy lift helicopters are either approaching or are past their service life.
11. Thats way USA will never atack iran
VBS ,   Chile / Israel   (04.19.13)
USA will do nothing to stop iran, Ayatolas are good for business, all middle east countries are buying weapons like crazy for fear from Iran, way in hell USA should want to stop them? they ware gaining billions in profit thanks to Iran. also, Iran arent stupid, they can treat USA all day long (like nort korea) but they will never atack USA. At least not in the near future... That has been the same stupid political desicion for USA in the middle east for last 5 decades, and they allways end paying a big cost (afganistan?, talibans?).
12. Whe Osprey?
fordo ,   Philly USA   (04.19.13)
V22 Osprey would be used to ferry troops into Iran to attack and occupy nuclear sites with ground troops.
13. #4 Z, Yeah Bennett is OK. He would also buy it.
Michael ,   California, USA   (04.19.13)
Your posting is so valuable, dear lady with bags. The big department stores' cameras are watching you.
14. 12
zionist forever   (04.19.13)
Israel is not going to attack and the occupy nuclear sites. Israel can send a handful of troops but Iran could send an entire army to kill every last one of them. All Israel is iterated in doing is destroying the nuclear sites. Israel might and I am sure it does send in special forces to do intelligence gathering and possibly sabotage missions but in and out mission with small groups of special forces is all Israel would ever do. If Israel was going to attack Iran it would probably be done with either aircraft or missiles launched from Israel. At the end of the day though its the US who will be the ones who carry out the main attack. Iran has already said if either the US or Israel attacks then Iran will retaliate against both so even if Israel were to go it alone when Iran retaliated they would also target American interests in the Gulf forcing Obama to carry out airstrikes because Iran would have declared war against America.
15. US-Israel fuel deal, $3.09 a gallon, well below market price
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (04.19.13)
16. V22 Osprey
Joe ,   USA-Israel   (04.19.13)
The Osprey is an awesome addition to the IDF because it can insert special forces at much farther distances, and at far greater speed than current IDF capabilities. In some ways it is a game-changing vehicle for the IDF. There were instances of trouble with the Osprey, but those glitches have been ironed out years ago. Israel will be getting a battle-proven system. It is an excellent choice.
17. 4, thieving fake
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (04.19.13)
durson is up to the old tricks of stealing people's identities and writing incoherent posts under their names. obviously, this person lacks the ability to make arguments without resorting to identity theft.
18. Obama is a good merchant
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (04.19.13)
he sells equally to friend and foe.
19. #15, wrong - not below market price if no state tax included
Jake ,   USA   (04.19.13)
20. #14, don't be so sure of Israel's plans for Iran.
Jake ,   USA   (04.19.13)
It is possible that, for once, Israel is preparing to cut the head off the snake instead of the tail. If Israel attacks Iran's nuclear installations, she can expect a regional war, heavy casualties, and maybe a few years of peace afterwards. If Israel attacks the Iranian regime from the start of the war (which would be fully justified given the circumstances) the nuclear facilities could remain intact. Israeli forces can secure them, empty & inspect them for traces of a weapons program, destroy what needs to be destroyed and hand over the civilian-use installations back to the Iranian people. Israel must destroy the Iranian regime or the Iranian regime will destroy Israel. All out war seems inevitable at this point, make it count.

27. Arms deal
Han ,   Den Helder Holland   (04.19.13)
Shouldn't the mentioned KC-35 be the new KC-46?? No KC-35 exist only the extremely old KC-135.....
28. #19, USAF paid $3.93 per gallon in 2012 for JP-8, and $3.73
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (04.20.13)
...is the estimated price in 2013. This deal a $1B gift to Israel, and much more if there is a war that drives up fuel prices. See..."The Air Force’s Fuel Problem"
29. What a Joke....!!
