For some, now that they have a country in Israel that is enough for them and they can now show how humane they are by advocating for Palestinians in the West Bank. It doesn't work that way. First, the West Bank is as much a part of biblical Israel as is Israel proper and many Jews want to settle it. Second, Palestinians want Israel proper as much as they want the West Bank as they view both as their homeland. Maybe it's time anti-settlement Jews who support Israel stopped playing holier than thou.

Unfortunately, too many Israelis and Jews in the United States mistake the Bible for a modern legal document which it is not. Believing that the greater land of Israel should belong to the Jewish people, based on the Bible, is harmless. Many of the settlers however, view it as their mission to push Arabs out of Hebron, Jerusalem and much of the West Bank today by bullying them and grabbing parcels of land that must remain in Arab hands if there is ever to be a two state solution. Many settlers (and Israelis) don't believe there will ever be peace. Others have no interest in a two state solution even if peace could be achieved. Until that changes, Israel will be viewed by many perfectly good and fair people around the world as a belligerent bully, and justifiably so.

Jews have a biblical connection to Israel and the West Bank. That may not be important to non-Jews or some secular Jews but it is important to many Jews. Jews are not settling Switzerland or Argentina. They are settling the land specified to them in the bible.
