But Lapid is right that each person needs to find financial independence, and not live of off tzdaka. Another issue is that charedim are so insular that many secular israelis rarely meet them. I hope that the integration of more charedim into the work force will not only make this country more financially stable and productive, but also more integrated across the religious spectrum. Charedim should embrace the opportunity to work along side chilonim and in the process share Jewish traditions and Torah wisdom. It could bring many Jewish back to G-d. Rather than passing laws and forcing the Torah upon people who reject it (busses not running on Shabbat etc) the charedim should be friends with secular Jews and over time most people will agree with them without being forced

The entire Lapid political platform has been hurt the hared. Get them in the army then look for some new anti hared crusade to fight and just keep looking for more and more things to attack the haredi on and the reason is its popular, there is nothing seculalr Israelis love more than haredi bashing. Sadly though thats all there is to Lapid and this is the full extent of his promised new politics. With any luck next election he will be leading just a fringe party and people will vote for mainstream parties, not as popular as somebody who has made it his mission in life to destroy the haredi but at least mainstream parties are not foccused on popular issue and care about the country more than the careers of individuals. Unfortunately, Lapid is wrong in claiming the Haredim are the cause of the deficit. The problem goes back a little further than that. Poor and haphazard financial management from all the leftist/socialist governments, from Ben Gurion on, is the basis of today's deficit. On this one, we have no one to blame but the leftists!

What we hear mostly are no's from the haredim. No to the army, civil duty. No to a basic school curiculum. No to lower stipends. When are the haredim going to come with proposals that go forward to lighten the burden on the majority of the population? Haredim should not give the impression of being only takers.
