Thank you for saving israel's future. Thank you to Lapid for delivering his promise.
2. Same Old
Ariel ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (04.24.13)
B"H - The secularist, read non-Jewish State fights against Torah and wants to destroy its Jews, turning them into what they consider harmless, normalized citizens of the State, towing the Government line, like zombies. We've seen Stalin, Ceauşescu doing this in the last goy century in their own countries, using the same tool: A standardized, centralized "education" system to indoctrinate the population. Soon, children will be made to spy on their parents and relatives and report to the authorities.
3. Lapid for PM - Well done
Haim ,   TA   (04.24.13)
a step in the right directin of intergrating these people in to the workforce instaed of breading another generation of uneducated, unemployable parasites
4. requirements
john ,   toronto   (04.24.13)
They are reasonable requirements. No one can be isolated from subjects and knowledge. Workforce must be properly educated. Mindsets must change for progress. At the same time the state has to change many of its attitudes also. Like bringing instability to the region .
5. Why only 55%?
Avi   (04.24.13)
What can you do with 55%? They must teach 100%
6. Good! i hope this law will be in place soon.
Ted   (04.24.13)
7. Way to put 'Backs-Up' ,and entrench Hareidi Positions
Roland Seener ,   London England   (04.24.13)
8. Basically a good proposition
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.24.13)
but should really include civics as well. That is the basic core subject which teaches "Why". Why we need a State of our own. Why we each and every one of us should contribute to the State. Why we are individually responsible for ourselves, our families and out State. Why both the Haridim and the Chelonim are necessary to the State and to the Jewish people as a whole. Why, why, why...I could go on for at least another 10 reasons.
9. No hard sciences? Oh, that's right. Contradicts them.
Cyberbrain ,   Israel   (04.24.13)
They need at least a year of high school physics plus a year of chemistry or electronics.
10. As long as football is funded...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (04.24.13)
11. Budget
vivienne ,   Republic of Ireland   (04.25.13)
May I state, Ireland could do with a finance Minister like Mr. Lapid. Draft dodging is not acceptable, the Nation of Israel cannot be expected to pay out for welfare to people who are capable of working.
12. For # 2, # 5 and # 8:
M. Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (04.26.13)
@ #2: 55% is just over half. Are students who study Torah 45% of the time likely to become secular socialists? Your rant here just shows once again the intolerance toward secular who object to having someone else’s hands in their pocket. Yesterday you called all seculars “goyim”, now you’re comparing us to some of the worst tyrannies of the 20th century. Have you no shame, spreading sinat hinam this way? What’s next? Will you be comparing Israel’s seculars to Nazis? One of your “learned rabbis” is already doing that. Don’t wait for Yom Kippur to reflect on your behavior. If you truly believe, then HaShem will punish you for your words—and you know it. @ #5: To force 100% secular studies would only justify the claims that intolerant Haredi bigots like # 2 are making. 55% is a start, let the students themselves decide what they do next—will they go to university, college or a trade school, or will they go to a Yeshiva? Each will have to decide on his/her own. Don’t justify the claims of people like #2—who is showing himself to be exactly the reason the seculars have said די! to Haredi blackmail. @ #8: Good idea. Civics should definitely be among the “Social Studies” of History, Geography, et al. A semester of basic economics showing why no state can accept a sector that takes from the state but doesn’t contribute.
13. #10 ORA
Michael ,   Haifa   (04.26.13)
I have to agree with you. Football,as well as the present Haredi "educational" system (for men), are a complete waste of time and money. I am glad that we occasionally agree over something.
14. Karma
Israel   (04.26.13)
If you are cruel to animals and disrespectful to the religious and social traditions that built your country - and teach your children to do the same - at some point karma might actually catch up with you. Here we are.
15. 13 Michael,i am glad too.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (04.27.13)
16. to no.12
Jennie ,   Israel/US   (05.08.13)
Reading all the posts, it is evident, that you are the "renting" one here, when you accuse the orthodox Jews of being Jews and following "mitzvot and the Tora. Shame on You, Davison...Last time checked, Israel is still the Jewish State: for the and by the Jewish People...If you don't like this fact, you are FREE to leave Israel and or convert to any other religion you please...Freedom of choice, is one of the many and most beautiful traits of Judaism...
17. do some more research before you judge
saddened   (06.18.13)
I pray that G-d forgives all of you for your negative words regarding people who guard his torah and traditions. How many of you have actually met a Chareidi person and seen how they live. They are hardworking, kind and dedicated people. Stop buying into all the propaganda and learn the truth.
