First of all, Assad isn't going to be around much longer, and neither is his government. The key is to keep these weapons of mass destruction out of the hands of the laundry list of competing factions that constitute the rebels in Syria. They are not unified, and the disparate groups have very different goals. Does anyone seriously think that any of the terrorist groups in that whirlpool of competing interests would have any qualms about using weapons of mass destruction? Guess again. Some of the groups have the backing of al Qaeda. Anyone capable of ordering the events of September 11, 2001 is capable -- even desirous -- of far more devastation. Can you imagine the devastation of releasing weaponized anthrax in a throng of unsuspecting people? Or smallpox? How about a little botulin toxin in a water supply? Do you think you're dealing with rational human beings? You're not.

Cameron ,   USA   (04.24.13)
Enough high personnel from the Saddam days all indicate that player tyrant made a point of transferring his WMD tech & weapons to neighboring fellow Baathist regime Syria. Doubtless an immense array of chemical & bio product for Hezbollah to select from & stockpile.
11. YOU BETTER NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT USING CHEMO...
Jewdi Knight ,   AMERICA THE BEAUTIUL   (04.25.13)
Assad knows if he uses chem weapons against Israel, that Israel considers chem weapons WMD's, and so a large group of glowing radioactive mushroom clouds appears in Assad's minds eye... that's why Syria won't use chem weapons on Israel...it would make a quick snuff film for the 6 o'clock news.
12. syria won't use chem weapons?
ira berkowitz ,   oakland, california   (04.25.13)

Get Real ,   UK   (04.25.13)
Syria may not use chemical weapons, but Israel can not trust the rebel Islamic terror groups inc AL-Q and /or Hezbollah. Hopefully the weapons will be prevented from falling into such hands. Israel must warn any Syrian regime and Lebanon of the severe consequences if attacks are made against Israel from these countries.
