1. Israel's responsibility?
Get Real ,   UK   (04.29.13)
Great humanatarian gestures but why extended to enemy nationals? May break down barriers with the families involved but still leaves whole nations filled with hate against Jews and pledged to the destruction of Israel. Friendly nations are more deserving of this help. Whilst it is not done to gain credit, it never gets reported either. How many Israelis receive medical treatment in Arab countries?
2. Save a CHILD'S heart?
Avi ,   NYC, US   (04.29.13)
The heart of a whole nation needs saving! I am referring to over glorified Jewish heart... While this initiative is blessed, what are 180 saved lives compared to the hundreds of thousands plus casualties that the war in Iraq, pushed nefariously by Israel and its agents in the US, caused? What about the millions of Iranians we will harm if our plot to push the US to attack Iran will succeed? Are we going to treat two hundred Iranian kids after the coming carnage just to show the world how great we are?
3. #1 Don't be so cynical
Avigdor   (04.29.13)
Even if there is no benefit to be derived from it, giving sick children an opportunity at life is a worthwhile effort, regardless whether the Arabs appreciate this. If they hate us less or hate us more, their choice to hate us is between them and G-d. As a medical student going through a surgery rotation, I will note that this kind of specialized cardiac surgery is actually of benefit to Israeli medicine. It gives Israeli surgeons experience to deal with very difficult cases and innovate on existing surgical techniques. This experience has downstream effects on the quality of Israeli cardiac medicine and fosters new research opportunities, ideas, technologies and collaborations with experts worldwide.

It's because we are Jews. My husband can do two face lifts a year, and we'd be set for life. Hell, he's done Madonna and Mark Harmon. And quite a few others. But nothing is as worthwhile to him as working on the faces of children that have no life, and no prospects therefor. What can possibly be more important than fixing a heart? Even if the recipient grows up to kill Jews -- as they will -- we've done what we should. The rest is on them.
5. 1-"human life is above everything"
Anna ,   Montreal, Canada   (04.29.13)
When those saved children will grow up, they will help to build the bridges between our nations. Meanwhile their parents, siblings and relatives are spreading positive emotions about Israel. We are not suppose to choose to whom to help on the grounds of their governments' behavior.
6. Nice but never lead to Peace
Steve ,   Dallas US   (04.29.13)
The Muslims and the Arabs will never fail to shock you with their ingratitude and hatefulness. Look at the Boston Marathon bombers. Given asylum in America, given welfare, given scholarships - and how did they feel about the US? They hated it as an infidel country and this pattern is true for the millions in Europe. Their hatred is not because you are not charitable or not liberal - their hatred is because you exist and are successful enough to give them charity.
7. This is what true humanity is. Thank you, Israel.

8. Iraqi children..........
Habib Seliman ,   New York, USA   (04.29.13)
Paraphrased, the Rebbe said 'you can indeed change the world for the better, one person at a time'. And if any nation can do it, it is us!

This SACH foundation is doing an outstanding job. HatsOff! They are humanitarians. beyond politics or religion. what is there here to criticize? Get real? You can't get more real than this. We're talking about saving children with heart defects. T hisis an international foundation. the fact that funding is in part by israel only makes this project more amazing. {besides, can u imagine the headline that says- israeli international health project denies care to iraqi children?} Respect is due to every single person who helps this project to succeed, from government, to doctors and hospital staff, to local volunteers.
10. #2 - "Avi"
Zvi   (04.29.13)
At the time, senior Israeli ministers recommended against invading Iraq. They believed that Iran's nuclear program was the real threat and that Iraq was not capable of developing nuclear weapons. Many of Israel's supporters (though not all) made the same argument. It made no difference; the "coalition of the willing" - which did not, incidentally, include Israel but which did include Kuwait and various countries whose populations tend to be anti-Semitic - invaded Iraq anyway. The initial death toll during the invasion of Iraq was less than 10,000. The *vast* majority of the casualties were suffered during subsequent sectarian warfare and terrorism sponsored chiefly by Iran and Syria. The reliably documented death toll in Iraq, starting before the war and ending last month, after western withdrawal and with the Iraqi army in control of the country, is about 112000-135000 (iraqbodycount.org). Sorry, sick person. Israel cannot remotely be blamed for the carnage of the Sunni-Shia conflict. It cannot be blamed for Iraq's or Iran's threats against their neighbors or for Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons. The people of SACH, meanwhile, are true heroes, and Israel has every right to celebrate their contributions to saving lives that could not be saved in any other way, even when these lives belong to citizens of countries whose regimes/peoples would destroy Israel if they could. I would not expect you to understand that, though.
11. #3 Avigdor - well said.

12. #4 - Most of these kids will not grow up to kill Jews.
Zvi   (04.29.13)
Most of these kids won't grow up to kill Jews. Most of them have parents who were willing to risk taking their beloved children to the "terrifying" Israelis in order to save their lives. This says something about the parents. In a region in which the likes of Hamas boast that they love death while the Israelis love life, these parents love their children deeply. They value the lives of their children, not the deaths of their children and not the deaths of others. They are wise enough to look beyond the hatred that infests their societies and see instead a chance to make their children well. And they are wise enough to have seized this chance, and they have seen the face of the so-called enemy, and found that Israeli hands do indeed heal. In every nation, even among those who would slaughter us, there are a few people who turn out to be righteous. If there are any parents in their countries who will raise children to value life and kindness rather than death and hatred, it will be these parents. I wish all of them the joy that comes from watching a miracle grow up.

I have the deepest admiration and respect for all those involved in SACH and for the work they carry out. I just question as to whom treatment is offered and I fully understand the TBs responses to my comments.
