1. Israel did right.
Beary White ,   Norway   (05.06.13)
It would be far difficult to later take out rockets spread over south Libanon. The timing is perfect. The world would see Assad beeing wasted, and the radical rebels would hold back a year or two, beeing thankful to Israel....and together wipe hezbolla into outer space...
2. Orly's thinking paves the road to Aushwitz
Arthur ,   SF, CA   (05.06.13)
3. Israel & Assad
Alex ,   Buffalo USA   (05.06.13)
It would appear, that Israel is protecting itself from Hezbollah's obtaining heavy weapons, while proping up Assad.
4. She's a moron.
(05.06.13)
5. please orly azoulay.. wake up
israeli paratrooper   (05.06.13)
syria created hizballah missile threat . now if we stand by and do nothing , we can find nasrallah possessing chemical weapons that can be delivered anywhere in israel. this kind of strikes should have been done 20 years ago . that would have stopped hizballa's cancer like growth .
6. Don't worry, Orly, Israel won't let your darling Assad fall
Jake   (05.06.13)
just shake him up a little. He's been too consistent and dependable of an enemy to want to swap 40 years of quiet on the border with a Moslem Brotherhood/ al Qaeda Islamic fascist regime. Now, won't you join the rest of us with the popcorn and barbecue and beer, while we watch the spectacle of Hizbullah losing its best "gladiators" in the Syrian arena.
7. #3 hit the nail on the head.
Jake   (05.06.13)
8. orly--no trap here
arne ,   chicago usa   (05.06.13)
only good thinking--Israel need take no sides in this civil war. there are no "good guys".It's like when Iran fought Iraq for seven years, then they both got tired and quit.
9. usual response
Michael ,   Seattle USA   (05.06.13)
This author repeats the usual response heard much to often whenever Israel takes any action to defend itself or its citizens: Don't take any actions! Let them kill us. If we defend ourselves it will only make them angry and will make the situation worse. If we kill any terrorists it will only create more terrorists!! When has this philosophy ever resulted in anything but more dead Jews?
10. Why does Ynet employ Azoulay?
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.06.13)
While it is good to represent a wide variety of opinions, it is hard to justify employing an Israeli "journalist" who argues against Israel defending herself. Why does Ynet employ Azoulay?
11. Getting Assad back on the horse wouldn't be that bad: Real-
tom ,   tel aviv   (05.06.13)
politik, you know. Then the world can go back to shedding it's crocodile tears for the Syrian widows & children & civilans in general.
12. to8
(05.07.13)
why to take a fullspoon from a boiling pot
13. #10 Chaim
Michael ,   Haifa   (05.07.13)
Presumably for the same reason that YNET posts your incredibly ridiculous talkbacks. It is known as freedom of thought and expression, if you were unaware of that
14. orly and shlomo ben ami
mofti   (05.06.13)
shlomo ben ami who was a pathetic disaster at camp david with his olmert concessions is tied to dzimminess. That san remo and balfour said israel could have the whole of mandated palestine, ben ami like orly goes on about his fears, jewish history and that israel will bite off more than it can chew. Hey shlomo, if israel has to fight all out, so be it but it will take down the whole neighbourhood. Arab league and their iniative is garbage and nothing to crow about as livni and ben ami say. These are oven jews. Since they cannot change their minds, they will simply die off and israelwill be better for it.
15. Dear Orleans
Aaron ,   Toronto,Canada   (05.06.13)
If your reason is that every madman who thinks that they can bomb Israel at will to unite his populace you're mistaken. What happened in libya,Egypt. These madmen would rather kill other Muslims cause they know the world doesn't care how many die.
16. #9 you are wright , Orly present a highscool assay
Avram Goldsmith ,   Toronto, Canada   (05.06.13)
17. Israel provokes Syria, wants to steal more Syrian land
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay,   (05.06.13)
18. faulty reasoning
tom ,   toronto, canada   (05.06.13)
the assumption that the rebels, after two years of fighting and nearly 100,000 dead, will put aside their grievances and rally around assad, is just silly. yes, they will use "palestine" (or anything else) as a rallying cry, and yes, they will eventually turn their sights on israel, regardless of anything the idf does, simply because israel EXISTS. but only after assad is gone, and buried. in the meantime, "might makes right" in the arab world, and israel just made herself a little bit less likely to be attacked, by the events in damascus.
19. 65,000 Illegal African/Moslems
Ron ,   OC US   (05.06.13)
I can not say what Israel did by attacking these weapons was smart money or not. What would be smart money would be for Israel to rid itself of the illegal Africans and Arabs within Israel.
20. "stabilize him in the eyes of his people" there is civil war
Michael Peter Redbou ,   Arad   (05.06.13)
What a foolish article! Unite which people when a civil war that has cost 70,000+ lives ? What would she like Israel to do? "Instead of quarreling with US, prime minister should cooperate with Obama". Orly Azoulay A left wing wimp ..
21. cheering crowds
i ,   jerusalem   (05.06.13)
it was reported that the rebels were ecstatic at the sound of our jets on the way in , and on the way out.
22. To the the writer
Arnold ,   Montreal-Canada   (05.07.13)
I do not agree one bit. Assad is in a weak position now. He is fighting his own people and as far as I am concerned the people will allow his army to be decimated by anyone including the IDF .... but as long as the IDF does not enter to stay. Which by the way the IDF has no intentions to do.As long as the IDF controls the Golan Heights it will be stable.
23. #13. A one trick pony & inane insults are his trick.
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.07.13)
First of all, Michael, there is a big difference between publishing lunatic opinions and employing someone to write lunatic opinions. Freedom of speech does not mandate employing someone who argues against Israel's right to defend herself. Once again you've proven you are a one trick pony and inane insults are your only trick.
24. Men with no steel.
John Prophet   (05.07.13)
Syria/Iran/Hezbollah now look like men who are flaccid, men with no steel! The weakness they now exhibit in the Middle East and around the world will only grow should they not respond. If they do respond it will be lights out for the axis of evil. The moment of truth has arrived.
25. Orly
litvac120 ,   wellington   (05.07.13)
Orly does not have an opinion, what she has in abundance is resentment against any Israeli Government that is not sufficiently left wing. Why does a respectable publish her, a mystery. litvac120
26. Men with no steel
27. a defeatist attitude that says dont fight to avoid a war
zionist forever   (05.07.13)
So basically to avoid the next war we should not try stop arms transfers hope Hezbollah don't get anti aircraft missiles that can shoot down Israeli fighters or if they get them hope they don't get used. The rest of the world is doing nothing because nobody has the stomach for another war because they will be in it for humanitarian reasons not just defending their best interest and if they become humanitarians they will probably have to send in ground troops and its easier to go in than it it to get out again. Israel should launch a full scale arial campaign to destroy chemical weapons as well as any other weapons we want to destroy because we can't control their use by either Assad or a post Assad regime. If nobody else wants to do the job we need to do it ourselves because we are in the line of fire from Syrian chemical weapons. Assad himself has not lost the plot quite yet and he knows he can't afford a war with Israel at this time because he needs whats left of his army and their weapons fighting the rebels to keep him in power. Last thing he need is a war against Israel if he is going to have any chance of defeating the rebels and surviving. Make threats, fire mortars across the border which is just minor provocations and Israel will not react to but looks like he is doing something Syria is being portrayed as a victim of zionist aggressions and maybe he will get some people to return the the fold unite around their strong president but as we are not bothered who kills who in Syria, who wins or how long it lasts then it really doesn't matter if it keeps Assad in power longer.
28. wrong statement
Jorge ,   Argentina   (05.07.13)
As a diaspora jew, I never post what i think Israel have to do or not because i think it would be disrespectful for Israel and its people. But in that case, I´m sure that for rebels, Israel intervention would be a positive one and far from divert their attention, they would encourage Israel to keep on striking Assad. Despite this, If rebels would eventually win the power of Syria, they will be enemies of Israel as usual.
29. #17 - When did the Golan Heights belong to Syria?
Michael Peter Redbou ,   Arad   (05.07.13)
The British gave the Golan to France’s Syrian colony in 1923. Syria attacked Israel in 1967 and lost the Golan. Syria had occupied it for 44 years. Israel’s liberation of the Golan has lasted 46 years. So who does the Golan belong to? It's interesting to me that some people support barbarians, 70,000 dead in the last two years; instead of supporting the only democracy in the area. Your choice of course. I'm sure some of your best friends are Jews ;-
30. #23 Chaim
Michael ,   Haifa   (05.07.13)
If you were not aware of it, Freedom of expression also applies to the Press. But reading your views over time, I can only conclude that you would have been a devotee of Pravda, for only your "truth" has merit.
