1. great!
kipa aduma ,   Israel   (05.07.13)
Now I will pay more taxes, get less child benefits- do I get more salary- most probably not. The already not very good education will have a lower budget and probably gets worse... this all sounds very promising, yeah! Great job, dear politicians!
2. How do these cuts take more from rich than poor?
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (05.07.13)
I have distinct feeling the poor are going to suffer more - again.
3. All politicians are LIARS!
avg joe ,   Israel   (05.07.13)
To the a-holes who voted for Lapid-thanks a lot! An extra 1.5% income tax (for which we already get nothing) and to top it off 2bil a year less for our kids. Does lapid know that non-haredim also have children? How does this help the middle class lapid?! I hope this shitty budget is defeated!
4. Hahaha...the government teat is about to dry up
Al   (05.07.13)
I got news for all you baby waby schnorrers. You either get to work and bust your ass or you will be hungry like a church mouse. Its time to get mean and lean. Watch and see how many will leave because they really don't want to be in Israel...and that may not be a bad thing. Israel needs people who want to be there. Nothing like a kick in the ass to kick start the old clunker.
5. Talkbackers 1-3 what do you suggest?

6. To 4 Al
avg joe ,   Israel   (05.07.13)
Hey Al its my tax shekels that go to kickstart your clunker when you ain't working. I am one of those so called "middle class" shmoe's whose back lapid won his seats on. You know the kind that came here from the west with education and skills, where both spouses work and pay taxes and have never taken a cent from the government in the west or here in Israel. Strangely here I get nothing back for paying all those taxes in terms of social and other benefits. So you know I have every right to be pissed off that I will now pay even more tax and get even less from the crooks in knesset seats. So feel free to gloat one and all as these measures do not hurt only the haredi whom we support financially.
7. #5 - raise taxes on the banks
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (05.07.13)
With the banks continuing to make mega-profits, the government should raise their income tax too, only moreso. The government should also eliminate free electricity to IEC workers (and fire the lot of them if they go on strike). The government should immediately cut all public salaries that were raised above the guidelines - starting with Bank of Israel employees. If they go on strike, fire them too. And the MKs should all take a 3% pay cut as an example.
8. Thanks to Lapid
Rafi ,   Merkaz, Israel   (05.07.13)
How can you blame Lapid? He only entered politics a few months ago. He has to clean up the mess of previous Likud governments. I think you should be thanking Bibi and all the Likud cronies and Likud/Shas voters who created this mess. Open your eyes.
9. As an American Chareidi I say
Heshy ,   Brooklyn NY   (05.07.13)
Its revenge against the secularist who seek to destroy the learning of Torah in Israel. Chareidi Israeli children will not suffer because there are numerous Chareidim in America extremely wealthy who will support these children. It is Heavens revenge big time. Lapid has no clue about finances. It was the American financial expert Fischer who kept Israel afloat last few years while the economy of all the other major countries are going down. Now Fischer is leaving back to the states as he is upset at the moron Lapids ideas of finances. Instead of wasting money like three million dollars on overtime to protect 1200 gays to their yearly march in Jerusalem, tearing up beautiful Jewish communities in gush Katif, raising a young generation of secular kids who have no Torah ideals and all want to go to India or Germany, you get what you reap. Chareidim in America are well connected to American politicians and will get funding directed to their Chareidi institutions in a heartbeat. Meanwhile the secularists will all leave Israel as taxes increase and benefits decrease. Revengeis sweet. You mess with the Torah, you pay.
10. Heshy since u r "charedi" I suggest you learn Mussar!

11. #8: Well said!
Dee Bee ,   Israel   (05.07.13)
Bibi and the Haredim broke the bank. Now Lapid has to fix it or will will all be looking for food in the trash! Have all the squealers forgotten the cuts that Bibi made when he was Sharon's Finance Minister? My two cents worth: VAT up 2%. Tax in the higher brackets up 2% to 5%. Tax on luxury goods, eg 50 inch TVs, 20% - 30% and leave standard bread, 3% milk, fresh fruit, vegetables, and fresh meat with no VAT. Reduce Tax on family cars up to 1800cc, increase Tax on bigger models and increase spending on mass public transport. Cancel the increase in the price electricity scheduled for June 1 and reduce the price of domestic water by reducing or cancelling VAT. Most important. STOP tax evasion and help the Tax Authorities collect what is due! There is a fortune out out there in the grey market. Just an idea, Minister Lapid. Like you, I am not an economist but maybe logic and common sense should count a bit?
12. you are so naive
Yosef ,   Boca Raton   (05.08.13)
Don't make me laugh. Laps cleaning the mess the previous administration left. lol. People always justify dirty politicians. In Venezuela after fifteen years of Chavez they are still blaming things on previous administration and still supposedly cleaning the mess. Lapid if a low life crook. You just wait and see the lines to buy flour and the quotas two kilos per person of there is any. No toilet paper to clean up the mess Lapid is making. In the mean while he is fillinghis pockets while you all idiots pay for his big salary so he can choke you up. good luck getting rid of thIs PILTRAFA Lapid is
13. increased taxes
njdoc ,   nj   (05.09.13)
Lapid stated that he wanted to share the burden, but I didn't see any increase in capital gains taxes????
14. Higher Taxes? Why?
Koose E Mack ,   NY NY   (05.09.13)
After reading the news about the potential revenues from Tamar, Leviathan, and the Shale Oil Fields in the Jordan Valley; one would think that the government will make windfall revenues from Gas/Oil Exports. If anything, taxes should be reduced, not increased. So what gives here?
