1. Stupid and mean article ; Bibi is working
norbus ,   Jerusalem   (05.12.13)
He can not arrive short of top form and alertness. Perez is ambassadorial with little consequence ; Bibi is Executive securing the Jews
2. Yo, but Bibi is working for us
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (05.12.13)
He works hard and needs to be fresh. If he needs a bed, give him one. He can't arrive in foreign countries looking like a schlumper because it is difficult to sleep on a plane. If Peres does with out a bed, good for him, but I want my representative, Bibi, to make a good impression and to be on the balll.
3. @2 since when does Bibiyahu represent LA?
W. Turner ,   Israel   (05.12.13)
that's like a really broad reach on jurisdiction don't ya think?!
4. Thieves
Ariel ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (05.12.13)
B"H - That taking out three or four rows of seats and replacing them with bedding on an airliner should cost half a million shekels is a, no, the scandal in this story. Evidently the suppliers worked on an "anything goes" budget, which means that they can be considered thieves and I would look into the nitty-gritty of kick-backs to the officials who authorized these outrageous estimates for the job.
5. "Israel's Pathetic Royalty"
Michael ,   Haifa   (05.12.13)
The Netanyahu couple's endless pursuit of hedonism can only be described as sickening
6. Bibi should have a plane, fitted with all the
miri ,   israel   (05.12.13)
necessary, to help him fulfill his duties abroad.
7. King Bibi
Nancy Tamir ,   Israel   (05.12.13)
The Royal couple as you refer to them get away with everything only because we peons don't object. The shame is on us - not them. They are simply too ignorant to understand what a financial disaster is waiting for us mainly because of their actions.
8. No excuse
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.13.13)
There is no excuse whatsoever for needing a bed for a flight 4 or 5 hour flight.
9. Have your other passport at the ready
(05.13.13)
10. Leftist writer
Brod ,   USA   (05.13.13)
Bibi is a good leader who cares for and defends Israel from the wolves. There is no need to demean your PM. A house divided will fall for the enemies to ravage.
11. Give Bibi a break
Lesley Fisher ,   Australia   (05.13.13)
Stop nit picking, this guy is a gem and deserves a few perks for a thankless, stressful and scary role as PM of Israel, the most threatened country in the world.Peres has no responsibility so no comparison
12. BUT SURELY THEY ARE WORTH EVERY PENNY - aren' they??
Rafi ,   US   (05.13.13)
what ? that's not the case? how could that possibly be ??
13. Yo. W. Turner, #3
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (05.13.13)
I am living in Israel for 37 years, came from LA, the armpit of the world. Thank G-d that I left and came to live and work in this great country called Israel!! I am proud to be an Israeli citizen living in Israel!!
14. Someone representing our country
David ,   Israel   (05.13.13)
Someone representing our country is therefore expected to fly coach? As a form of signalling all that could prove to show the world is that Israel is a low developing country. Think of the costs for Obama to fly on Air Force One costs in comparison. Let's not forget the security arrangements that have to be organised. That's not just with ensuring the safety of himself and staff but also national security - that he is contactable and can liaise with important figure heads like the head of Mossad or the IDF in case of war. The costs involved are completely justified and Israel is one of the far more cost effective nations when it comes to expenses for members of parliament then most western nations.
15. as tax paying citizens, we should demand - at least -
oferdesade ,   israel   (05.13.13)
pix? r u sure they were SLEEPING? my arm for the security cam tape of the bed if its juicy. no, wait. bibi & bibette. there goes breakfast. porridge anyone?
16. HATE RANT
Ronnie ,   Australia   (05.13.13)
Enough of nasty hate letters/blogs. Show some respect for a legally democratic head of state I read this newspaper for facts.... Please stop the nasty people and there horrible rants from being published. RESPECT for your readers = more reads. I buy stuff off this papers advertizers
17. Jealousy
michael Pielet ,   israel   (05.13.13)
You are just jealous.
18. They deserve their comforts
Zionist forever ,   Israel   (05.13.13)
BB is the PM of Israel and if he demands a bed on board a flight then thats his right regardless of the cost.
19. Bibi and Sara
I. Barr ,   USA   (05.13.13)
Think what happens when Bibi comes to China tired. Is it good for Israel? The couple Obama cost to US tax payer ! billion dollars annually. He takes his kitchen with him on his trips. Not that this justifies dear Sara behavior, but the old dictum is true:" LO TAHSOM SHOR BE'DISHO". Get used to it and do not wine. Netanyahu is doing a good job.
20. I heard Livni traveled like this all the time.
Miron ,   USA   (05.13.13)
Rabin had his own entire plane. ... An objective article regarding air travel of Israeli PM(s) of past would be very helpfull. It sure is interesting knowing that Mr. Ehud Olmert almost got into prison for traveling in business class seats... No wonder Yahoo is scared of the man running for PM office more than of Hamas rockets.
21. Prime Minister Needs to Be Alert
Shlomo ,   New Jersey, USA   (05.13.13)
This criticism is ridiculous. It is critical the PM be fresh, well slept and have his keen intellect in perfect form when meeting with the PMs of Canada and UK, not to mention all the dignitaries at the Thatcher funeral. Many people don’t function well when not well-slept. America has Air Force One so the President is likewise in top condition. Canada too. Israel is also a first world country. The flight already cost $300k. But rolling on a modular bed and partitions should not cost $127k!!! There should be a way to affordably protect Israel’s taxpayers and provide Israel’s PMs, Presidents, FMs, and other dignitaries with sound sleeping accommodations so they provide the best representation for the country. To save $$, I’d ax the luxury sedans given to the MKs. I do take my hat off to MK Yachimovich. She (and other courageous MKs) should sell or lease their luxury sedans and give the proceeds to those in need.
22. Morons
David ,   Tiz el chla   (05.13.13)
Why doesn't he have a private jet ?
23. BibiN
Viv ,   Ireland   (05.13.13)
Not sure what to make of this article, on the whole Israel has a pretty smart leader. Wives can be a tad demanding, keep them happy while state matters must be given more attention.
24. Which PM goes coach
Mordechai   (05.13.13)
Peres has never flown coach in his life. No president or PM of Israel flies coach, stays in a local motel or hostel when on government business. Perhaps the writer is also upset Obama came to Israel on Air Force 1 rather than US Airways Coach too. But then the left has also complained the foreign minister spends a lot of time abroad. After all there is no reason for a foreign minister to travel he can just skype everyone right. Yes the tax hikes are a mistake. Israel needs tax and spending cuts. End the socialism, end the welfare state and let the middle class stop paying for the lefts high life.
25. Strong Centrist EgoOpportunist
Zechariah   (05.13.13)
At the moment I cannot think of a better leader for mainstream Israel than this cunning Fox and his First Lady .But as a Democratic Human Rights Opportunist he will need to maintain his legacy of being half decent .Besides the Real Heroes of Israel are elsewhere ..
26. Alert and Ready?Bull*%t
Adam ,   tel aviv   (05.13.13)
He could have easily gotten a first class flight and slept there. There are Holocaust survivors, elderly and good working class people that are paying the price for this and now he wants to cut more money from the average. If you dont live in Israel then please dont comment on this because you dont know what its like to live under him. This gov't keeps finding new ways to take more of the working classes money so in the end bibi can sleep and his wife can eat more ice cream. Sound a bit ridiculous?
27. The real question is...
JJ Gross ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.13.13)
How can we entrust our security to a prime minister who is so whipped, so terrified of his wife, so under the contrrol of an out-of-conrtol harridan?
28. Netanyahu is a fool
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (05.13.13)
Is Netanyahu's spending on "luxuries" worse than any previous PM? Certainly not worse than Rabin, Peres or Barak, yet he and his wife are incessantly attacked by the fanatic Left. Yet, instead of supporting the Zionists against the Left, Netanyahu joins the Leftists attack on the Zionists. Netanyahu is a fool.
29. Who do you like?
michael Pielet ,   israel   (05.13.13)
The writer and al the negative responders are a bunch of Israeli ingrates. Doing what Israelies do best complain about nonsense. Pleas tell me who you prefer as Prime Minister, Olmert, Mr. moral turpitude, Deri, sentenced to jail, Galon supporter of the arabs, Tibii, an arab nationalist, or maybe Lapid the tax hiker, or even failed Livni?
30. Why not just have a gov't plane
Ephraim ,   Jerusalem   (05.13.13)
Seems silly to pay an airline for each flight. Why doesn't the government own it's own plane? Or at least make a deal with EL-AL for a custom plane to be used more than one time. I have no problem with PM, whoever it is, sleeping in a bed, but for one time flight, pretty wasteful.
