1. Maybe someone can tell the Israeli army & police
CK   (05.17.13)
that there is something called handcuffs. There is no need to hold people by their necks or pull them by their beards. They appear to lack even the most basic training in crowd control. This is reason enough to not want your son to join an army that practices such violent techniques against civilian demonstrators.
2. Prosecute the Soldiers
Shmuel ,   Jerusalem   (05.17.13)
Choking civilians is inexcusable.
3. #1&2 UR Clueless in crowd control
Israeili Jew ,   Israel   (05.17.13)
when you've DONE it yourself, THEN talk. Until then, shut your ignorant claptraps
4. unbelievable
Ilana   (05.17.13)
How dare they hold violent and illegal protests! ANd especially in order to escape serving the country that provides for them. Chutzpah! They ought to be dealt with harshly, sentenced and then made to serve.
5. Action and reaction
peter ,   tel aviv   (05.17.13)
it is their democratic right to demonstrate as long as they register the demonstration and abide by the law. Once they start acting like they did in this case there is a simple reaction to their actions. Do what Rabin prescribed at the first Intifada. Break their legs. And please don't start telling me now those who turned violent were leftist in disguise.
6. 8 out of 40000
mark ,   israel   (05.17.13)
Out of a protest of forty thousand people, eight were arrested. Hardly worth mentioning actually. Kol hakavod for a peaceful protest. Pity the cops have no crowd control skills. A ballet concert would turn violent if overseen by these guys.
7. Throwing in my opinion
Shalom Hartman   (05.17.13)
As a "moderate" hareidi I always feel a sense of discomfort at these demonstrations and I guess that Rav Steinman and Rav Yosef felt the same way which is why they didn't endorse it. But let's call a spade a spade; approx. 39,992 people took part peacefully and there were 8 trouble makers - probably the same ones who got and make trouble at the Kotel every month. The majority of the almost 40k people would have had no clue what was happening in the "delinquent" corner. However, these fools who can't resist making trouble give the entire event a bad name, and do the opposite of what was intended. Instead of being a Kiddush Hashem - a peaceful prayer rally, it became one more mindless demonstration. In my humble opinion these 8 should be thrown out of their yeshivas (if they are in them), and inducted into the army. However - on a somewhat separate note, I who am generally in favor of a separate track in the army for religious boys, was not happy to see three times this week, at the Maccabim junction, religious boys on duty in pairs with secular girls. If the army wants to earn the religious public's trust they have to act like mentsches. No parent is going to be happy to hear that their yeshiva educated son is alone for hours on end with a girl.
8. How long until the "revolving door" starts spinning?
Dee Bee ,   Israel   (05.17.13)
9. #6 you're on the "Mark", as usual
GG   (05.17.13)
Its just funny how Israeli Soldiers are allowed to use force against Charedim (e.g.-taking people by there necks, kicking, punching) but if they use the smallest bit of force against Palestinians they get in big trouble.
10. The Arab "protesters" on Naqba Day
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.17.13)
Were they arrested, and will they be prosecuted?
11. just makes me sick
arne ,   chicago usa   (05.17.13)
and ashamed to see these extremists carry on the way they do. most jews look upon them with contempt--let the police lock em up and throw the keys away--they stink-they don't baithe or change their black codes of armour to often.
12. 7 My opinion: "moderate" hareidi is an oxymoron
Thinking Jew ,   Israel   (05.17.13)
trying to merge them merely confuses everyone UR a moderate Orthodox or a hareidi
13. We need to take the israel police to the intarnational court
AlterG   (05.17.13)
what a shame from them, why are they coming with horses in begin with? Does the jews have guns or what?
14. Let's make peace
Avi ,   Belgium   (05.17.13)
...love another and work things out. I'm sure that most people religious or secular are very much the same in the core.. If both people accept one another than we win 95% of the problems. Shabbat shalom brothers and sisters
15. 8 protesters, what about the instigators
Reuven ,   Netanya   (05.17.13)
Minister of justice, show us you have the balls to go after the organizers. The rabbi's who mobilize these people and knowing very well what the outcome will be. This is the second time in a week! Lock them up and treat them as a danger to the state.
16. Spoiled Brats
Frank Merkle ,   USA   (05.17.13)
Stop demonstrating and start serving. Get to the border, carry a rifle and protect YOUR country. If Moses did it, you can do it too!
17. Protestors' criminal brhavior should be rewarded with prison
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (05.17.13)
sentence, not free to roam streets again. I doubt they will follow court restrictions. This type of Haredim make their own laws. Israeli judicial system must be stronger.
18. 8? Boot them out of "Haredim" or they is you
Israeili Jew ,   Israel   (05.17.13)
passive tolerance is constructive implicit endorsement -- we know about the wink... and that they're the heros getting all the "kol hakavods" back in the yeshiva
19. "only 8"
Ilana   (05.17.13)
this number does not mean the rest were nice peaceful protesters... duh! spitting, name calling, insulting, avoiding duties, acting like wild hooligans does not get one arrested.
20. We need more Haredim
Joseph ,   Holon, Israel   (05.17.13)
Haredim should be put in charge of dealing with Arab rioters. The present Army and political leadership is weak and impotent. Internal Security Minister Aharonovich is appalled by Haredi protesters' violence but has infinite restraint with Arab rock throwers. something is really wrong here.
21. To 12
Sam ,   Belgium   (05.17.13)
Did u ever get close to one of them to smell to say that they stink ? Or they don't change their clothes ?? Real anti semetisim
22. Unbelivebel
Sam   (05.17.13)
It wasn't illigel the had permission From the police
23. 21 their dress + not taking baths; NOT antisemitism
Thinking Jew ,   Israel   (05.17.13)
Stop blaming all of your ills on "antisemitism" of all non-Haredim, your cursing and spitting on Orthodox schoolgirls, cursing dati leumi as "goyim", etc. You're sanctimonious hypocrites!
24. Haredim
Edouard ,   Montreal Canada   (05.18.13)
What do we need this Haredim for exactly....... Yes I forgot ... We need to pay someone the well fair, the yeshivots full of perverted teachers, pay for the food of they dozen of kids per family, pay for they school were they can lurn that we ( the payeurs) are not real Jews Why don't we become a strong country and take this people to the borders and kick them out
