1. I want all of you to ponder that headline and then imagine,
tom ,   tel aviv   (05.19.13)
that it is not Syria but Iran and that these missiles may have nuclear warheads? How does it grab you?
2. Missiles aimed at Tel Aviv
gregg bowman ,   Parksville, Canada   (05.19.13)
Quite simply put....that would be the last thing Syria ever did, and Syria knows it.....warm regards, Gregg Bowman
3. Quite the eye-opener
Amichai ,   Huntsville, US   (05.19.13)
This definitely raises that stakes. Israel simply won't have Hezbollah getting their hands on Syrian weapons. Nor will Israel allow Tel-Aviv to be targeted. Israel recently appeared to have stated that it would prefer Assad over the rebels as he is at least more predictable. I think the Assad regime would do well not to escalate the tension between them & Israel. I predict a sudden, crushing response should Syria fire upon Israel. The best way for Syria to avoid confrontation with Israel is to exercise a policy of extreme containment of the conflict inside their own boarders and halting the attempts to export arms to surrounding anti-Israeli militia factions.
4. Of course, you do realize ...
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.19.13)
.... that should one Syrian missile be fired at Israel, Syria shall cease to exist. Assad needs to tone down the rhetoric and the aggression. Israel will NOT allow the transfer of game-changing weapons to Hezbollah, or anyone else. If he knows what's good for him and his country, Assad will stand down. Otherwise, there will be nothing more than a giant crater where Syria used to be. We're not playing his ridiculous game. We will hit, and hit hard. In fact, we should probably pre-empt. Shut that gawky talking head down for good.

Well said. Who is going to blink first?
6. Israel
Justjams ,   Jerusalem   (05.19.13)
Israel hit syria first. Israel needs to stay out of this. The us sends game changing weapons to israel to bomb civilians in gaza , is israel the only country thats allowed to do what they want? BS
7. Assad threatens genocide on the Jewish State
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (05.19.13)
israel needs to turn syria and south lebanon, including the bekaa valley into heaps of ash. let the liar in chief obama and his european cronies whine when it is all done.
8. 2 gregg
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (05.19.13)
assad has not shown himself to be at all rational. i do not expect him to be rational in the future, especially given russia's strong support and obama's total lack of support.
9. ya, ya, start up with haredim and you get Syria
GG   (05.19.13)
This is not a joke
10. CULTIVATED ETHNIC HATE
jfraser ,   USA   (05.19.13)
While Mideast adversarial players come into possession of 'better', or we should say "more destructive toys", the hate factor is at work full-time. How is it that with more advanced education, supposedly going hand in hand with more intelligence, our leaders have yet to evolve as "good enough specimens", to appeal to one another to the extent of finding some reasonable or logical formula for their people's better future? It must be that blinding hate factor, not to mention the instigators like the leaders of the current Iranian regime, who continue to use twisted religious mindset to bring on The "Heaven-bringing" Apocalypse. It sure sounds 'high-purposed' and HOLY! Yes. That must be the reason.
11. 4 # Ever idiotic, talking out of nether orifice
norbus ,   Jerusalem   (05.19.13)
You think this is fun and games? Assad is a desperado with nothing to lose. He knows he is a Gonner . I find your responses those of a sick person. You really need medical attention
12. Assad
MR   (05.19.13)
So, Israel doesn't allow the transfer of missiles to Hizballah because they could eventually be launched towards Israel, but accepts that missiles are already on standby to hit Tel Aviv? After all, Israel did Assad a service. He didn't have to refuse Nasrallah, Israel did the job. All Assad needs to do is to make sure that next time no Syrian soldiers will be close to the missiles that are going to be hit, then issue a protest over Israel's aggression and enjoy Nasrallah's help in butchering his own people. It worked so far, why look for trouble?
13. Syria has the right to defend itself
Al ,   Switzerland   (05.19.13)
Israël is clearly the agressor, it should expect a retaliation sooner or later. If Damas strikes Tel-Aviv and Israel unleashes massive attack then Russia will not let do this. It's the times for Israël to feel the pain of the Tishreen, S-300 and Yakhont missiles...
14. 6
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (05.19.13)
do you have any idea at all about what is happening in syria and in much of the muslim world?! we have outlived many empires and you and your terrorists better keep that in mind.
15. Where is Obama as push comes to shove
norbus ,   Jerusalem   (05.19.13)
No President in the history of the USA has so degraded America He is fulfilling Jeremiah Wrights curses on America, He should be impeached before he does more damage. His non response to Putin on the S-300 has emboldened Syria to threaten Tel Aviv.
16. re#4 There might be a crater in Tel Aviv.....
Cali Lib ,   Los Angeles, USA   (05.19.13)
if Netanyahoo keeps playing with fire. It really bugs you that Tel Aviv will burn the next time Israel dares to attack Syria. Israel cant get rid of Hezbollah, yet in your warped mind you think they can bring down Assad. Wake up Sarah, Israel is not as strong as your damaged brain thinks it is. If Israel is dumb enough to use nukes, prepare to get nuked yourselves, as it would take Iran a week to put their bomb together.
17. Hold your horses
Harri ,   EU   (05.19.13)
Don't rush into war with Syria, because Syria is too big to control by Israel. You would head into Afghanistan like war, but your home front would be in the middle of enemies. Even if you nuke Damascus, the most of the residents are in refugee shelters in Lebanon and Jordan anyway, but Syrian retaliation with chemical missiles would hit Israeli cities full of unprepared people. Don't do anything foolish. You should advance peace in every front to avoid further escalations.
18. GG @#9:
Israeli 2   (05.19.13)
If that is the case and this is no joke , then Israel should really start up with the Haredim. I want Syria that much....and the prophecy will be fulfilled.
19. US has officially warned Lebanon
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (05.19.13)
should hezbollaha start a war, israel will set back lebanon fifty years.
20. 15
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (05.19.13)
i seriously doubt that they will impeach the first black president in us history regardless of his malfeasance.
21. Isaiah 17:1 is the destruction of Damascus.
Rivkah   (05.19.13)
The missiles from Syria will likely be intercepted by the Iron Domes but Damascus will be destroyed and their military decimated and lands that were given to the Hebrews long ago will return to the Hebrews, as prophesied long ago. I would suggest that anyone who wishes to survive the destruction of Damascus, LEAVE there now.
22. Lavrov
Aron ,   Givat Shmuel   (05.19.13)
I suggest you all read the cover article appearing in the May/June issue of Foreign Policy about "Mr. No" as Lavrov is known amongst the foreign affairs community.
23. 14
Justjams ,   Jerusalem   (05.19.13)
U talk about terrorists, how many civilians died in gaza for defending itself against a siege?
24. 16 liberalism is a mental disorder
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (05.19.13)
you have no idea what israel can and will do when the time comes. you have no idea of the weapons, the military innovations in all fields that Israel has thus far kept secret.
25. #13 Al
Son Of Cyrus ,   UK   (05.19.13)
The pain of Tishreen, S-300 and Yakhont missiles cannot possibly be any worse than the pain of your posts that you inflict upon us the readers!
26. Syria
Michael ,   Usa   (05.19.13)
All this arrogant talk by the generals and lseaeli, is the same as the one coming from the other side. Better to keep some info untold, like in past years, for the sake of the country. Generals should know that! Becoming the people standing is not a sure thing,as past wars show. Destroying the others along with being destroyed is not a win. The other side is strong, huge ,knowlegable ancd fierce.lsraelis for the most part are no longer willing to die in a war and most don't even enlist. Brain power is a lot but not enough. And yes,the jews will not be erased, this time either since many are in other cuntries. Wake up.
27. Hizbollha
musongo ,   kenya   (05.19.13)
The terrist gnag Hizballha i s desperate for surfice to air weapons, as the know that Israel resopns would paralyze the lebanon infrastrucutre, so such a move would not be accepted by the rest of the libanese, as such needing these weapon inorder to protect from israeli retailiation. If they dont get it the will not fire anny missiles at Israel. Iran is pushing Assad to deliver them, so Israel needs to do what ever it takes to prevent such game changing weaponary to Hisbolha. assads new missile treath would if executet just do limited damage, but also the last thing his regime will do.
28. #13 Really? How many rockets landing
American girl ,   USA   (05.19.13)
In your country would be tolerated before you fire rockets back? Apparently you are not aware of how many rockets get fired at Israel. destroying weapons makes sense under the circumstances and under the same circumstances your country would destroy the weapons too!
29. Missiles aimed at Israel.
Son Of Cyrus ,   UK   (05.19.13)
Well Israel, it is time to show your true grit in the face of such adversaries. They want war so give it to them. Obliterate and annihalate them all. May Ahura Mazda guide you in your times of need to destroy these evil people!
30. to #13 Al from Switzerland
