Israel can look the other way when Hezbollah splashes Katyushas into fields. It can't look the other way if they start shooting down El Al flights with surface to air missiles. 2. Eliminating the weapons convoys accomplishes this task the most efficiently and with the least civilian casualties. If those things made it to Beirut or Gaza, the civilian death toll would be massive. 3. Syria has lost to Israel in the best of times. They can't handle their own house, never mind fight Israel simultaneously. They know this. 4. If they make good on their threat and fire a missile towards Tel Aviv, regardless of whether Israel manages to intercept it, we are going to see an ass kicking that makes Hiroshima look like Boston.

Well, Israel launched 3 attacks without a single answer from Syria: that's well and dandy.
