1. This whole tragedy is absoluely heart breaking.Deep sympathy
Alan ,   SA   (05.20.13)
2. The Core Reason For This Tragedy
Ariel ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (05.20.13)
B"H - The core reason for this and many other tragedies is that the banking sector in Israeli is set up as an ordinary goy fractional landing system and Torah is ignored. In the Jewish financial system credit would be free and the poor would be treated humanely.
3. How tragic is this ? My heart hurts for the
miri ,   israel   (05.20.13)
families of those who were killed by this deranged man. In the end he killed himself as well !
4. sad. sad. sad.
sue ,   jerusalem   (05.20.13)
5. Very tragic but it starts with violence in secular schools
Schools should learn ,   the 10 commandments   (05.20.13)
Why don't education ministers take care of the secular hooligans in their schools and teach them proper stuff instead of worrying that haredim are not learning about Zionism?
6. This guy was a hero
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (05.20.13)
The bank manager couldn't do something for this guy...who was a hero?? Something is terribly wrong here when a bank doesn't enable a customer to come to some kind of arrangement to pay off a debt. And the debt wasn't all that large!!
7. just the beginning
Ali Baba ,   tel aviv   (05.20.13)
as people become more desperate and the more the state screws the average civilian, the poorer people get the hungrier they get and the more desperate they get. lapid and co. want to put people into poverty-they will see crime go through the roof. Only in israel will the banks handicap you for a few measly bucks. The entire country is turning into a shithole.
8. They write off billions for the super rich...
David ,   Rehovot   (05.20.13)
But for this poor guy ₪6000 was too much? A bit of empathy for the average Jo who struggles to make a living would have averted this tragedy
9. You commenters are all POSes
Howard ,   Chicago USA   (05.20.13)
You people are utterly ridiculous. You have sympathy for this mamzer who murdered 4 people? The bank was not out of line. And for you pathetic American Liberals out there, the GUN WAS PROPERLY LICENSED.
10. Alon was wrong
(05.20.13)
But the Israeli Banks should also be more flexible with their clients about making arangements to pay off a loan
11. To #9
Yossi ,   Israel   (05.20.13)
Screw you Howard of Chicago! Your city leads in murders of innocent people in the US! What do you know about Israel? Stick to your great banking system in your country...we saw how good your banking system did for people when they lost their homes and posessions because of them! As for guns, I rather live in my country than yours!
12. #2 and #5
Adam ,   Ramat Gan   (05.20.13)
Shameless religious leeches using this tragedy as political mileage. RIP all of the victims, this is beyond tragic.
13. Im sorry to admit this but...
Danielle Landman ,   centre   (05.20.13)
If there is one place where I fantasize about taking out a gun its in the bank...I think he kinda lived out the fantasy of many..
14. Thank you # 11
Debbie ,   Israel   (05.20.13)
15. I am shocked at talkbackers here
JewishHeart ,   Israel   (05.20.13)
4 people lost their lives today. Many kids are going to grow up without parents, parents who worked hard to land good jobs to support their families. There is NEVER a reason to justify murder of innocents who have kids. We all struggle with hard situations and nearly impossibly situations here in Israel at one time or another, but normal people don't murder. There is no justification, and those who justify it sicken me.
16. I've been ripped off before.
JewishHeart ,   Israel   (05.20.13)
I've been ripped off, had my car stolen, been nearly broke and had my bank harassing me about it, etc..... but a normal person will not resort to murder. They will get up, and try again. Thats the beauty of life....you fall to the ground and you get up. Those who justify murder sicken me.
17. Be'er Sheva bank shooting
Toledano Jean-pierre ,   Israel   (05.21.13)
Of course I don't know the whole story about what was happening there... but..... debts, a lot of debts, people believe that banks will resolve their problems, disappointments, etc..., Those things make weak, desperate,... people to become sometimes very crazily, furiously, full of hate, full of despair,.. against banks, banking,.... I'm not a leftist, not at all, but.... about bank-seductive advertising, run away of it, don't listen to it. They (the banks) think only about their own profits, not (thinking) only about your needs!!! Believe me, you can enjoy life without harbeh,... money,... Without their coins, money.... I know, G;d I know,... life can be ..... sweet, heavenly,.... Slowly, believe me, slowly, slowly build up your own future, Finally, you will succeed, JP, not an extreme-leftits or -rightist Israeli one
18. Wasn't there an armed guard at the bank door like at hotels
Rivkah   (05.21.13)
in Israel and so many other places? That would be a good investment and also to have a bell at the door that requires someone inside to release the door latch remotely for entry like jewelry stores even in the USA have.
19. Murder is murder - No justification for this crime
Rivkah F. ,   Jerusalem   (05.21.13)
Most poor people whose requests are rejected by the banks, whether justified or not, do NOT take a gun and shoot people in the bank. Only a sick, angry & violent person would do such a thing. There are too many mentally unstable people who do not receive any treatment and some, unfortunately, have access to guns. The murderer probably fell between the cracks at some point & that is what happens.
20. Beersheba Bank shooting
Roxy ,   Israel   (05.21.13)
This is only the beginning, when people can't make ends meet because they get fired, or their salaries are so low that they can't afford to put food on their table, clothe their children or live in an apt they get desperate and resort to such actions. Lets face it the price of food, fuel, electricity has risen steadily here each week/month while salaries and betuiah leumi payments for the elderly and disabled have not. People are struggling weekly to feed their kids while the government here lies about how well the economy is doing here, and the electric company keeps raising their prices while still giving their employees free electricity for life(this perk needs to be eliminated), and the rich keep making millions off the backs of minimum wage workers because the companies are too cheap to pay employees a livable wage based on the real cost of living in this country where they tax you to death! No wonder why so many olim are packing their bags and returning to their homes abroad!
21. high price for inpersonal relationships
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (05.21.13)
the man was down on his luck with no one to help him. Even after he was a hero, he was shunned. How very sad for all, the victims and their families.
22. commentary of americans who dont live here means zilch
Ali Baba ,   tel aviv   (05.21.13)
keep your comments to yourself and worry about cleaning up your own house before pointing fingers and making assumptions
23. 2.
Birdi ,   Israel   (05.21.13)
Keep on dreaming.
24. This piece of garbage murders 4 people and you bitch about
Al   (05.21.13)
the banks? Are you people insane? He owed $1500 and he takes out 4 people? The problem is that in Israel every two bit pos is given a pass. This wackjob should never have been anywhere but in an insane asylum, never mind allowed to carry a firearm. As for the assholes commenting about religion etc...grow the hell up and shut up.
25. 6,000 NIS debt and the bank is uncooperative
Sue ,   Netanya   (05.21.13)
The bank manager was clearly like most of them, sitting in his big chair and looking down on everyone who doesn't have a million dollars in his bank. I feel for the innocent who were not working in the bank, but the employees would have let this man live and starve on the streets, so screw them. I have found myself that Bank HaPoalim, especially lacks morals and customer service. This story could have been my own, since they cancelled my credit card when I hadn't gotten to the limit and then tried to sue me for that money with lawyer fees added. Making a payment plan was not an option until I went to the court and made an affidavit to the truth of them cancelling my credit card and leaving me no option. Then low and behold they decided to make a payment plan (after they knew they would have lost in court.)
26. #8 You are RIGHT ON! Well said!!!
Netanya ,   Netanya   (05.21.13)
27. PTSD
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (05.21.13)
Apparently, after he had shot the terrorist five years ago at the terrorist attack in Be'ersheva, he got a job as a security guard, but was fired for negative behaviour. Perhaps this behaviour was a sign of PTSD. But he never got treatment. If he had gotten treatment.....if the bank manager had been more forthcoming to help him.....if....
28. #5 guess u have forgotten Ami Popper, Baruch Goldstein
Haim ,   TA   (05.21.13)
#5 guess you must have forgotten Ami Popper, Baruch Goldstein and many more, strange they were all religious, and went to religious school, lets not forget the murdering scum Yigal Amier,. Well i went to secular school i never murdered anyone although i once got a parking ticket, does that count?
29. WAKE UP CALL TO OUR GOVERNMENT!
Riva ,   Israel   (05.21.13)
I do Not to condone murder. Yet, what is clear is that many many hardworking citizens DO NOT EARN ENOUGH to support their families and get out of debt! My married children can work 10-12 hours a day and STILL have trouble supporting their families! They don't murder people with their troubles, but they feel TERRIBLE KNOWING THAT THEY LIVE IN A BLACK HOLE OF DEBT. esp. supporting little children. And now, instead of trying to ease the burden for the blue collar/middle class people-on taxes, housing, food, electric, etc., our "brillant" finance Minister Lapid is finding more and more ways to make like ABSOLUTELY MISERABLE for EVERYONE! AND WORSE, OUR PM IS ALSO NOT DOING ANYTHNG ABOUT THIS SITUATION! THE STRESS IS NOT ONLY KILLING US BUT MAKING KILLERS OUT OF OUR PEOPLE WHO JUST CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!
30. No. Murder is murder
Rivkah F. ,   Jerusalem   (05.21.13)
My husband had been unemployed for several years and not all Americans who live here are rich. Yet murder never crossed our minds. This man was sick and violent and got no help.Nothing justifies such a terrible crime.
