This will probably encourage more attacks on British soldiers! Stay out of Arab affairs, They will work out their own problems eventually. Arming the rebels will only increase death.
2. Stupid move
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.01.13)
And so typically British. If any of those weapons are ever turned against Israel, we will hold the British responsible. More British perfidy. Are they EVER going to get over the fact that we humiliated them in Palestine, and that Palestine was the first brick in the wall to crumble, leading to the end of the British Empire? Well, we haven't forgotten the White Paper which effectively ended Jewish emigration to Palestine, thus trapping Jews in Europe and leaving them at the "mercy" of the Nazis. Neither have we forgotten the concentration camps in Cyprus. We also remember that every single British fort in Palestine was handed over to the Arabs upon the British departure, along with all of the weapons. Things are a bit different these days. The Jewish people are no longer helpless victims. The British had better take note. We have very long memories.

Sam Sweiry ,   Eastbourne - UK   (06.01.13)
Russia need Syria for its Mediterranean Base - China need to sell more arms and killing machines to Syria - Tell me - all those people up there - dont they have any decency to stop the killings of innocent people - this world gone mad - OK - OK - some people say - let those people kill each others and leave Israel alone - but really?

EJL ,   UK   (06.01.13)
As a Brit and a large supporter of Israel, it is naive to dismiss the power of the UK and its military capabilities.

Justjams ,   Jerusalem   (06.01.13)
The agreement between the british and arabs was: if the arabs fought the ottaman empire , the british will let them rule their own countries.( they kept their word with all the arab coutries except one) So yes they armed arabs but only to weaken an ally of the nazis. All u care about is jewish lives. your sick

arby muller ,   annecy france   (06.01.13)
Did IQ's just drop in Westminster? The weapons you give the 'rebels' now will be used in the streets of Woolwich against the good citizens of GB tomorrow. Outrageous pandering to the so-called underdogs. Today's rebels are tomorrow's jihadis. Wake up and smell the truth before it bites you in the butt.

there is some dispair at the mind of our Foreign Secretary and the inability to learn from recent history. UK governments have a bizarre desire to "influence" events regardless of whether it is to the benefit of the UK or not. Thankfully, the UK has not been supplying arms to Syria so cannot be blamed when they are turned against anyone. This will end as soon as a single bullet crosses the frontier. There is a general consensus that both the regimes on offer are very unpleasant. The most desirable outcome, a representative, broadly democratic government will immediately come under attack from Islamist and Salafist forces just as in Iraq and elsewhere. Whether such a government would have the will to fight them is doubtful. They will blame the West and Israel! Syria again demonstrates how hard it is to get rid of dictatorial regimes when the citizens don't really care about liberty. They care about Allah! With supplies coming in funded by Saudi and Qatar why on earth would we want to gift more bullets? There is a view that it is to be a hidden subvention to our own arms industry at a time when we are suffering from massive spending cuts. It is all very well claiming this is a negotiating tactic to bring Assad to the negotiating table but unless UK government is prepared to back up words with actions it's pretty useless. All in all, the horrors of civil war with its impact on civilians and refugee crises is always shocking to the British mind. If the Arabs don't care why should UK taxpayers pick up the tab.
11. Stalemate will last un til the Prophecy is fulfilled
Dror ,   Emeq Yizrael, Israel   (06.01.13)
There will be no peace treaty, there will be no ceasefire. The slaughter will continue until the Prophecy from Isaiah 17 is fully realized. Damascus will be utterly destroyed and abandoned. The pride of Israel's enemies shall be as the pride of Israel over the centuries (non existent) the Jews were not allowed any pride throughout the longet exile of our history. God is employing measure for measure to all of our enemies. Better pay attention. The only way out is to leave us alone, we are here to stay and we are here to stay on ALL of our land. Oh, and by the way the other best thing the nations can do for themselves is to nudge the Jews living amongst them to leave... Galus Juden, you fools, come home now with tears of joy or come home in tears of pain and suffering.

BUILD BABY BUILD !!! ,   United States   (06.01.13)
You Brits ( supporters of Israel or not ) didn't say that to US during WW11 now, did you? Britain would be speaking German if Americas involvement didn't happen. If your 'military capacities' are so keen how did that public beheading by a known radical Muslim of one of your off duty soldiers happen? Hell, how did Boston happen if our 'military capacity' is so great? Sarah's right, Israel is the only nation to defend herself in all of the Muslim/ Arab wars initiated on Israel. Israel is the only nation to remove two Muslim nuclear reactors. Where's Britain in all this? Is she going to step up and aid Israel to remove Iran's nuclear threat? What say ye? Know this Israel will not lose, Britain if she continues to harm Israel will find the harm return to her at least 10 times. Where's your might 'British Empire" now, booby?
13. History tends to stupidlty repeat itself
BEN JABO (MACHAL) ,   ISRAEL   (06.01.13)
The USA did the very same moronic thing when she Armed rebels in order to force the Russians to leave Afghanistan These very same weapons were turned against U.S. by the Taliban, et al

Get Real ,   UK   (06.01.13)
By backing and supplying the rebels with weapons the West is seeking to create an influence in a future preferred non-Assad regime and thus prising Syria away from the Iran-Russian sphere. The supply of arms and the risk of extremist terror against the West etc are a small price to pay if the axis of terror were weakened.

Nr 5. The military power of the UK and its capability, is not greater than Russias. Nr 6. Should not Sarah care about Her own peoples lives, when the rest of the world dont ? Its you opinion which are sick. Arn.Sweden.
18. Russia, Syria and the "rebels"
Cipora Julianna Kohn ,   Z   (06.01.13)
many here question the wisdom of supplying weapons to the forces fighting the assad regime. people are rightly concerned that those forces have been infiltrated by global jihadi elements. these concerns are legitimate. however, one should not overestimate the numbers of these jihadists. nor should one think that if the assad regime falls, that the jihadists would be able to take power in syria. it is more likely that the muslim brotherhood in some form would take power, although it is possible that syria will become a failed state. russia's desperate attempt to save the genocidal assad regime has become very problematic from both the standpoint of realpolitik and humanitarian considerations. there is no chance that assad will ever rule over a united syria again. hence, russia is fighting for the paltry prize of its naval base in tartus, while being complicit in a horrifically brutal war against civilians. russia has refused to negotiate in good faith to end the conflict. russia's insistence that the terror state of iran be part of the negotiations has as a matter of russian policy legitimized the shia terror regime's role in fueling and directly participating in the slaughter of the syrian civilian population. russian myopic interventionist policies will draw out the conflict and severely impact surrounding states. the supply of weapons to the opposition would not be necessary were it not that assad and his allies have waged a war of genocide with no end in sight.

What is my opinion? All life is sacred.if Sarah was a true Jew she wouldn't support the killing of non Jews or wish harm for others.
20. Nr 19.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (06.01.13)
So howe will you then stop the Killing of the Jews ? By wishing no harm to those who does it ?. Or Go and Kiss the Nazis, thinking they might be impressed by your sacred acts ?. If you cant discriminate between Good and Evil, go back to the sandbox and play with the unmatured ones. Arn.Sweden.

Stop the twisting will you. Maybe if your grand parents & parents were killed by the nazis & a member of your family was killed in a suicide attack in Israel, you would be singing a different tune. You have no right to tell a poster here, he or she is sick. You have no right to preach to others here, either, whoever you are.
