1. They never mentioned the "dirty bomb" attack on NY that I
tom ,   tel aviv   (06.14.13)
thwarted last month(it was a Tuesday)! You don't believe it? Too bad.
2. Terrorism roots
Tal ,   Israel   (06.14.13)
It's about time to do something about the roots of terrorism.
3. All these threats prevented...

were Muslims. Now what about the millions of law abiding people with no terrorist connections our government is spying on? How does big brother justify that? If this spying were legitimate it would be way more limited in scope. I wonder if the German people thought that the Gestapo was spying on them for their own good?
4. It's a police state in America.
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (06.14.13)
The NSA is spying on it's own citizens. What does it mean to be an American?
5. It means, Rich #4,
Robert Haymond ,   Canada+Israel   (06.14.13)
that you are lucky to be a Canadian so you (and I) ought appreciate that fact and not condemn the USA for doing what it must do to protect Americans from Islamic terrorism.
6. Just amazing
PaulD ,   Jerusalem   (06.14.13)
playing the Islamic card, when Obama and his cabinet of Radical Fascists have done everything in their power to empower Islam, destroy the Constitution and all the fools that still believes there exists Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press, and Freedom of Worship. If you don't worship 3rd-world pay-back, 'progressive', global politics, and hate nationalism -- you are the enemy,.
7. Mr. Haymond # 5
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (06.14.13)
Spying on people with no connections to Islamic or any other type of terrorism does not protect anyone. A line has to be drawn somewhere. If it is ignored you end up with government doing things like running guns to Mexican drug lords, targeting groups that politically disagree with them (IRS-Tea Party) and other abuses. That isn't protection and it certainly isn't freedom.
8. Necessary surveillance
Get Real ,   UK   (06.14.13)
It is when they fail to uncover a terrorist plot that criticism will be levelled at them. It requires selecting and targetting those suspected. As Israel knows it only needs the terrorist to succeed just once to achieve their objective of death and destruction.
9. Every case of thwarted terror was entrapment.
JMK ,   NYC   (06.14.13)
Even the bombs were supplied by the FBI. The FBI entrapped young impressionable men and encouraged and enabled them to do what they would never possible do or have the capabilities to do. The FBI basically franchises terror like Subway franchises their restaurants to people who never ran a food operation.
10. a quote
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (06.14.13)
"This administration also puts forward a false choice between the liberties we cherish and the security we provide. I will provide our intelligence and law enforcement agencies with the tools they need to track and take out the terrorists without undermining the Constitution and our freedom. That means no more illegal wiretapping of American citizens. No more national security letters to spy on citizens who are not suspected of a crime. No more tracking citizens who do nothing but protest a [policy]. No more ignoring the law when it is inconvenient. It is not who we are. It is not what is necessary to defeat the terrorists. The FISA Court works. The separation of powers works. Our Constitution works. We will again set an example for the world that the law is not subject to the whims of stubborn rulers and that justice is not arbitrary. This administration acts like violating civil liberties is the way to enhance our security. It is not. There are no short cuts to protecting America." - Senator Barack Obama at the Woodrow Wilson Centre on Terrorism, 1 August 2007
