1. Land swaps
Mark ,   London, UK   (06.18.13)
I have often asked myself what the land swaps would be for the settlement blocs. According to this article they would be "large parts of the Negev, the Lachish region and the Beit She'an Valley" A quick wikipedia search indicated two are heavily populated by jews. I can't really imagine why the Pallys would want bits of desert for their state. I had, perhaps naively, assumed that Arab cities in Israel, might be the land for swapping. A plebiscite of the inhabitants would be interesting.
2. So it seems, that our biggest enemies are from within?!
tom ,   tel aviv   (06.18.13)
It is not surprising: it is mind boggling!!! "Never Again" has lost its meaning first and foremost among large portion of our own Tribe! How/why do we do it? I am just sitting talking to myself, sorry....
3. #2, Tom...OF COURSE !
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (06.19.13)
4. End sick "peace talks with Palestinians" forever.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.19.13)
The last thing on earth Israel needs is sick evil "peace talks with Palestinians". "Palestinians" are genocidal poseurs who must be driven from our land forever. It is obvious to any literate child that the Two State Final Solution would turn Israel into a 9 mile wide concentration camp and lead to another holocaust.
5. He's Not Mad
Brett ,   Florida   (06.19.13)
Just lost his backbone. Maybe his faith too. Keep reading and studying the Torah Mr. N.
6. Sorry Elyakim, you make two major errors
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (06.19.13)
First, Yachimovich has already agreed to support the peace process WITHOUT joining the government so Bibi will not have to make any "pricey" political concessions to get labour’s support. Second, under the new rules you do not need a parliamentary majority to support to remain in power, rather, you need a majority against you to lose power. In order to unseat Bibi (and the peace process) Bennet would need to get 61 MKS to both support a no-confidence vote AND commit to forming a new coalition. Where can Bennet get this? Answer: he can’t, that’s why he’s not PM . And that means that the government stays in power even if Bennet quits the coalition in protest over peace negotiations. In sum, the new law gives Bibi a suit of armor –and the truth is that only Bibi knows what he 's wearing under it.
7. #4 You can hide under my bed Chaim
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (06.19.13)
Chaim, study the partition plan and the subsequent war of independence and you'll see that we started out in a much worse position that any peace treaty with the Palestinians will leave us with. Nor does having a larger waist protect us from Hamas and Hezbola missles. As long as we maintain moral and military superiority, the size of our waist is irrelevant.
8. Better entrenched in peaceful stalemate
David ,   Shiloh Israel   (06.19.13)
This article hits the nail on the head. Where can the main leaders really turn, including Israel and the PA? A stateless PA is less accountable for both its massive influx of foreign donations, and impractable political policies, than it would if it was bounded by governmental restraints. Accordingly. it can thrive on excuses. Israel can willingly reciprocate in perpetuating this state of illusion, providing the lid is kept on violence. The status quo has given all a lengthy period of near calm, and is only rocked through external intervention trying to impose foreign ideals. Bibi has done a remarkable job in withstanding such foreign pressure, and in all fairness, the PA has managed to keep the lid on overspilled acts of violence. We still have a long way to go to enable stronger security measures to eradicate dreadful attacks against our people. Meanwhile, quitely building an economic infastructure for Arabs living in Judea & the Shomron, together with quitely allowing us to build and also grow a healthy economy, can drastically help to improve this peaceful stalemate. Bennett called this area the Peace Zone, which is a great idea; a starting point for an improved peaceful status quo!
9. Not Large Land Swaps
Zivron   (06.19.13)
Judae and Samaria and the West Bank are about six thousand square kilometres so if Israel wanted half three thousand square km of the Negev and Green Triangle would be a good deal for Israel. The Palestinians would never agree its high fantasy and ludicrous .
10. #7. You are incredibly dumb or have a death wish for Israel.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.19.13)
Jump Off the Balcony, your posts are very sick jokes. Try tell any other state they should turn their states into a 9 mile wide concentration camps! Israel is in infinitely better shape now than if she signed a "peace deal with Palestinians". This is totally obvious to any literate child, who can read a map. You are incredibly stupid or you have a death wish for Israel; or both.
11. 9 mile wide consentration camp
Mordechai ,   Beit Shemesh   (06.19.13)
it is you Chaim who is writing complete and utter rubbish. The 9 kilometre is an illusion just as the river Jordan is, both are immaterial. Land offers in today's world no security. Anyone who wants to can fire rockets at any part of Israel from well outside our borders or even the West Bank by using GPS so the rockets are accurate to within 5 metres. What you are trying to do is insidiously disguising what your real intent is the removal of all non Israels in the west Bank. You are an evil person wanting to do to others what the Nazis did to us. You are a disgrace to all Jews and Israelis!
12. #11 you post is pompous nonsense
Al   (06.19.13)
My guess is that you are a towel head posting anti-Semitic crap. Move along ...
13. #10,#11. Mordechai, is right.
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (06.20.13)
And calling Mordechai a "towel head" instead of addressing his comments is a perfect demonstration of your decidedly non-Jewish aggressive goebbelesque racist misdirection. Chaim, you are still evading a question. If Palestine is and always has been a complete fiction then why does Article 7 of the Mandate require that Jewish immigrants be allowed to acquire "Palestinian citizenship." ? Are you guys (Chaim, SarahB, AI, etc) trying to inflame opinion against Israel and Jews??
14. #13. Nothing but pathetic fear mongering.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.20.13)
Mordechai didn't make any rational comments to address. His post consists of nothing but puerile insults. As for Fictional Palestine; even the P.A. knows it is fictional. They claim to be building a state. Jump Off the Balcony, you are a one trick pony; and pathetic fear mongering is your only trick. Even leftists, like yourself, know there is no sane reason for Israel to become a 9 mile wide concentration camp. So they are trying to scare Israel into doing something lunatic and self destructive.
15. #11 Naive and Lack Understanding
Annie ,   Netanya   (06.20.13)
To have 9 Km is much different from a bigger separation. If you can have regular bullets shot and hit you, you are under much more stress and no GPS or iron dome can help To put Israel in a position to have another Sderot on her hands is to commit suicide. We have weapons to protect ourselves against longer range rockets, however if you make the distance closer, the chance of being hit is ten fold. You need to read history and see how life in Tiberias was prior to Israel taking the Golan. The people living there could not even travel to the north side of the kinneret. Please learn the history of distance and its impact!
16. #15 Occupation is one thing
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (06.21.13)
settlement or annexation is another. And so to is the Golan Heights which , having been there, I expect Israel to hold on to at least part of indefinitely for legitimate and objective security reasons. I also expect most of the security fence to remain as is, for there to be a "buffer zone" and for other security measures consistent with our needs. Settlement and annexation are not a need, merely an understandable almost primal desire. But that does not make it right to further subjugate and dispossess the Palestinians. It will be easier to defend a nine mile waist then it is to defend the settlements. And that is the not so naive opinion of the former heads of the Shin Bet.
17. Al, Chaim & Annie
Mordechai ,   Beit Shemesh   (06.21.13)
it is so easy to call me names but none of you have been able to support your position by any logical reasoning or to show where i am wrong. You all live in a fantasy land, we may well be able to win the next five wars but what happens when we lose the sixth? Our enemies will not treat us as we treat them, look what they do to their fellow Arabs can u imagine what they will do to us? The difference between you and the rest of us is how ignorant all three of you are. i say this because people who have made Israel's security their life's work have come to the rational and logic conclusions that negotiations have to take place. You may not like it but if we don't your grandchild if they are still alive will not be living here!
18. #17 Mordechai
DavidR ,   USA   (06.21.13)
Calling someone evil and disgusting as you did to Chaim in your #11 post is "NAME CALLING!" Some name calling is legitimate, such as "hypocrite." So, I guess I will join the name calling team and point out that you are just that! A HYPOCRITE.
19. #18 Oi oi oi! Mordechai is name calling!?!
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (06.22.13)
I strongly suggest that you read Chaim and SarahB's responses to people they disagree with and also take note of the vile terms they routinely use to describe Palestinian-Arabs. Having been subjected to their moronic abuse, I respond in kind, although I do try to use a little more imagination and wit. Nevertheless, you are right David, it would be more circumspect, if not accurate, for Mordechai to describe not Chaim, but Chaim's comments as ugly, irrational, racist, despicable, venal, disgusting, reprehensible, nauseating, ignorant, etc., etc. After all, there is no evidence that Chaim possesses the rational faculties, experience or judgment necessary to ascribe such qualities to him personally.
