1. Bedouin
zznhl   (06.26.13)
By Definition the Bedouin roamed the deserts, they never owned or even claimed land....which would be paradoxical....all of a sudden they claim ancestral rights to land?
2. Question
Rafi ,   Merkaz, Israel   (06.26.13)
By definition aren't Bedouin nomads who follow herds and seasons? Funny how in Israel they have such a strong connection to land - which they don't show very well as witnessed by the garbage dump that the Negev has become around their villages.

Raphael ,   Netanya   (06.26.13)
Under the ottoman- and later british- rule, the Negev was entirely state owned area, with the "miri" status, like any pastures or wasteland.
4. Well thank you dear Bedouin!
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (06.26.13)
Well thank you dear Bedouin for speaking the truth: "My grandfather's grandfather bought these lands in 1904, when the land was under Ottoman rule." Well well! The historical truth shines through the clouds of lies after all doesn't it? As I've said so many times before: the Arabs arrived in Israel primarily between the 1880s and the 1940s. 1904 is no ancient history. And Arabs have NO previous history in Israel unless of course one includes a short period of Arab imperial rule of Israel during a time span time shorter than 30 years during the 7th century AD 1400 years ago. Otherwise, most of the "Arabs" of Israel were actually Moslem Kurds, Turks, Iranians and others - the Moslems who have lived in Israel as strangers for centuries, were predominantly non Arabs. And the Bedouin stated that the land was under OTTOMAN rule! Very interesting! Why didn't the Bedouin speak of any Arab/"Palestinian" state or civilization in Israel? Maybe because it has never existed? Huh? Did the Bedouin ask himself WHO has lived uninterruptedly in Israel for the past 4000 years? If Bedouins want a Bedouin life style, why don't you guys pack your bags and move to Arabia, Egypt or North Africa? By the way, Bedouins don't own land - Bedouins are nomads. Bedouins don't need privately held land in order to be Bedouin.
5. this law is essential if we want to develop the negev
zionist forever   (06.26.13)
What happens if the government wants to build a new town to try encourage city dwellers to move to the Negev because they want to develop the region and region but the Bedouin refuse to sell their land? Individual landowning Bedouin can go to court to object government taking their lands for financial compensation, the courts could be dragged up in Bedouin claims for years and whilst they are petitioning the courts work on the new town would have to be suspended and drag it out long enough the government will just say lets build our town elsewhere less headaches. The Bedouin have the potential to bring to a halt Negev development and so the government needs legislation giving them the right to compensate the Bedouin and get rid of them. Will also need to deal with the illegal villages and the only way we are going to deal with this is an all encompassing law.
