1. IEC Wasting Money When it Could Earn From the Same Source
EGGM ,   Petah Tikva, Israel   (07.03.13)
The IEC is in fact streamlining and making itself more efficient to settle a dispute in Bnei Brak. That's great, only the problem is that all the work hours that will no longer be necessary won't be removed to save public money, and the same workers will remain and earn the same ridiculously high salaries for much less work. In other words, this could be a great investment for the IEC that would turn a profit soon, but instead IEC is making the "investment" and not taking in the profit.
2. No to religious cohercion!
(07.03.13)
If they don't want to connect to the National Electricity power, then be it but not on my count!!! Who's going to pay for the 500.000 INS? Right, I thought so... the public! IEC should make THEM pay the bill!!! If you prefer living in your 17th century life mode, do it but not on our expense! Israel, ENOUGH with the nonesense!!!! Maybe, if we follow your logic, electricity in Israel should be jewish electricity and non accessible to goy like me....
3. This takes away more work from Jews
david ,   Jerusalem Israel   (07.03.13)
Iran and Afghanistan were a fairly nice and free countries in the 60's. Then the religious movement took over and now look. -Know your history (and other peoples for that matter) or be doomed to repeat it.
4. Talking about schizophrenia: On one hand: 21st Century tech
tom ,   tel aviv   (07.03.13)
nology advancements, on the other: Medieval superstition. Was this ever predicted inSci-Fi literature?
5. for goodness sake
ash ,   bet shemesh   (07.03.13)
for goodness sake people... the iec is doing this simply because they can make money. it has bugger-all to do with religious coersion. if every week the iec sold electricity to the while of bnei brak they would recoup their paltry half a million shekel in no time. in any event half a million shekel being invested in technology is peanuts. its probably less than the annual snacks budget off the ceo of this grossly overstaffed and bloated govt subsidized company (read monopoly) with regards to the innuendo that the charedim are causing job losses amongst iec staff south this change... good! the place is overstaffed and paid for by my hard earned tax shekels. if they can cut some of the dead wood because they are competising systems then great.... but with a union like they have i'm not holding my breath for any positive change from the iec
6. Scientific-Technological Halacha Institute!
nadav ,   tlv   (07.03.13)
OMG, is that a joke? LMFAO! How can something based on medieval superstitious tomfoolery possibly by also scientific and technological?! Their rabbis believe in ghosts, demons, and sorcery- is that also scientific? What's worse is that TAX payer money is going to the the corrupt IEC to fund this quackery!
7. #2, oh good God, give it a rest you blithering buffoon.

I understand that the "Kosher" electrons will be wearing skullcaps.
9. electricity for the orthodox
ILANA ,   caesarea, israel   (07.03.13)
why do the secular citizens of israel have to pay for the orthodox to have electricity on shabbat? let them leave the lights on and pay for the electricity... the money could be spent aiding holocaust survivors and the poor. or just maybe lowering our electricity bill.
10. Dream Up A Law, Then Make Them Pay Get Around It
World Citizen ,   the world   (07.04.13)
This is religious priest-craft in its highest form. It is sad that most of the world is locked into organised religion.
11. anti-religious and non-sensical
mark ,   israel   (07.04.13)
Firstly shame on the writer for belittling something that is of great importance to part of am yisrael. Do you spend shabbat watching grown men kicking a leather ball around for 90 minutes? Second, the 500 k is nothing compared to other wastes incurred daily in this country. Third, it can be assumed that automation will reduce operation costs not only on shabbat but over the whole week. Lastly, the comment about putting Jews out of work is laughable . I'll bet the same person complains about the bloated and overpaid IEC workforce.
