1. Security guarantees to Israel ?
Get Real ,   UK   (07.02.13)
Such as ? Who from ? Israel has learnt over the years that the only guarantees to the security of Israel are the actions of the Israeli themselves.
2. What is being offered to Israel for these gestures?
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (07.02.13)
Palestinians get: - limits to Israeli settlement construction - guarantees to the Palestinians that border issues will be discussed in a timely manner - international financial aid to the Palestinians - release of some Palestinian prisoners held by Israel Israel gets: - security guarantees that will not stop Hamas rockets, Syrian rockets, Lebanese rockets, any terror attacks, etc. Am I the only one that sees these as one sided?
3. let's bet us!
Igor ,   Germany   (07.02.13)
I bet 1.000€ that the talks will fail. Please stop this theater of peace talks. These kind of talks will always fail.
4. Abbas is optimistic
ILetzter ,   tA   (07.02.13)
Unfortunately, we know at the end Bibi will capitualte and surrender! Will probably give up on all the demands he has made in the past. Kerry knows he needs just to pressure Bibi and he will finally capitualte , as usual. He capitualted with lapid and in manny other instances in the past.
5. "Two-state solution"
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (07.02.13)
This mantra has been heard for some time, yet often, without noticing at least three elements: 1) The basis for ALL peace talks and agreements to date, since the process commenced in 1991 during the Madrid Peace Conference, has been UN Security Council Resolution, 242, 1967. Nowhere in 242 is there either a call for or a suggest toward the setting up of an additional state between the Jordan River and the Med. Sea, nowhere! 2) The reason no such suggestion was made was because it contradicted the fundamental elements of international law related to the Arab Israeli conflict and the need to resolve it, i.e. San Remo conference decisions, 1920; League of Nations decisions, 1922; UN Charter, article 80, 1945. These elements of international law have already established the partition of Palestine between two states, Arab and Jewish. The former, located on 77% of Palestine, between the Jordan River and the Arabian desert. The latter, only 23% of the territory, located between the Jordan River and the Med. Sea. The call for an additional partition of the 23% of the Jewish home, as defined in international law, is strictly a political one, not based on law. 3) Reality is that despite the on going pronouncements of this mantra, there hasn't been a solution along the lines of further partitioning Palestine/Eretz Israel (Land of Israel). Perhaps, due to the fact that it is unworkable, to say nothing about its lacking fairness to the Jewish people. Isn't it, therefore, time to re-focus on that which has been established in law, i.e. the 1921/22 partition of Palestine/Eretz Israel (Land of Israel) on the basis of 77% vs. 23%; Arab Palestine east of the Jordan River vs. Jewish Eretz Israel west of the Jordan River?

7. #6 - Security guarantees
Norman ,   Boca Raton / USA   (07.02.13)
Get Real, lately it's the Palis who need security guarantees! They have no army, air force, navy, nothing. Israel has what... the 4th most powerful army in the world? If you guys are scared of the Palis, something is wrong with you.
8. Hey Eric!
Norman ,   Boca Raton / USA   (07.02.13)
Here's what the Palis are offering: by getting their own little rump state, the Jews can be a majority in their own real state! If Israeli Jews begrudge them their tiny little split state, then everyone can together enjoy the ONE BINATIONAL STATE! How about them apples? Sounds good doesn't it?
9. Jehudah
Norman ,   Boca Raton / USA   (07.02.13)
I've been reading your League of Nations, San Remo stuff for years. How come nobody else cares about any of this? Not even Sarah "Lawyer" B. cares about it.
10. Optimistic in their dirty work
Brod ,   USA   (07.02.13)
Abbas is optimistic that Kerry and Hussien the Islamist will do their dirty work. Israel should say NO to the dark forces.
11. Norman 7 forgot your meds today ?
alsky ,   Toronto   (07.02.13)
12. Obama and Kerry determined to give Palestinians a state
Sam` ,   Canada   (07.02.13)
Obama and Kerry are determined to give Palestinians a state for little in return which is why Abbas is optimistic. Israel and Jews in general will have to be firm not just with the Palestinians but with the US too. Israel must make it CLEAR that it will not be bullied.
13. heard that one before
zionist forever   (07.02.13)
Abbas changes his tune every single day so today he is optimistic about Kerry efforts without of course committing himself to hold talks. He is though optimistic which is what the western politicians want to hear even though he doesn't mean a word of it. If there is any building in Jerusalem or anywhere else no talks. If you don't release over 100 terrorists including killers then no talks. if you don't agree to our territorial demands 100% no talks. If you ask us to recognise Israel as a Jewish state no talks. If you don't agree to a right of return then not talks. These are all excuses Abbas has used in the past to avoid talks because he has seen a growing support abroad and amongst Israels' far right for a single state to replace Israel. Its his dream solution but up until now nobody even took the idea but now even in Israel its seen by a growing number of people & politicians on the right and left as they option of choice. If I was Abbas I would do everything I could to avoid talks. Why work towards creating 2 states when I can have it all if I drag my heels?

that is because the international community as were the brits, are perfidous and will always sacrifice jews' rights for oil.

And what of Hamas and Hezbollah missles. Of PA areas extremist terrorism. Of Assad's Syria and of Iran Of a rebel (AL-Q ?) regime in Syria Will all of these recognise Israel's right to exist and to exist in peace? If not ,more terrorism and wars? All comes back to Israel guaranteeing Israel's security being in Israel's hands.
17. Abbas just wants to mess around till UN Sessions in Septembe
Alan ,   SA   (07.02.13)
18. Farce: Abbass has to appear as if he is real negotiations
Martin ,   SA   (07.02.13)
Farce: Abbass has to appear as if he is real negotiations. He has not made a single comment about real negotiation. Never the less he can go to UN and declare negotiations failed after maintaining he cant accept anything except 67 borders. BB I think this is a set up. We need to take insurance. My suggestion if I may is: To the American Senate and Congress to instruct Pres. Obama to support the annexing of Judea and Samaria including a demilitarised zone. To pre-empt Abbass if he refuses to budge from 67 lines. To further instruct Pres. Obama to ensure that Abbass is deterred or blocked from approaching the UN under any pretext from trying upgrade the status the Jordanian refugees represented by Abbass.
19. Steups! The only thing that matters to Abbas is the MONEY...
Harry Wright ,   UK   (07.02.13)
aka international financial aid.
20. Supporting a 3-state is bad for America.
BUTSeriously ,   Sydney   (07.03.13)
Look what's happening to UK & Europe if in doubt.
21. Israel must clearly reject 2 State Final Solution.
Chaim ,   Israel   (07.03.13)
The time is long overdue for Bibi to do what the Likud Constitution and the vast majority of Israeli Jews call for. To clearly, totally reject the monstrous abomination of the Two State Final Solution. It is obvious to any literate child that this would turn Israel into a 9 mile wide concentration camp. There is simply no excuse to play games.
22. #12 No Sam, you're wrong
Rau   (07.03.13)
it was Israel who has been bullying the US for so long and the US is suffocating financially.
23. Remember - Negotiation is NOT
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (07.03.13)
A one minute wonder Its not sufficient to just sign a piece of paper... We have to recognise that we have to build a solid foundation of trust and mutual respect and STABILITY this only comes from creating more and more areas of joint cooperation that are mutually beneficial There is no lack of confidence and drive amongst our young who are daily discovering areas of opportunity for the future But what we have to do is start NOW on the road to closer cooperation so that we can see and understand the benefits of peace even while negotiations are taking place And ABOVE ALL - we have to learn that we must never pander again to outside pressures and agendas as to how we deal with Israel Only WE can determine our own future Proud to be Palestinian
24. #22 US suffocating because of Obama
Benji ,   US   (07.03.13)
25. Kerry Obama enough meddling . Go Fix USA
Norbus ,   JERUSALEM   (07.03.13)
Enough meddling already. You have thrown us under a bus, sewn a mine field around us, indulged Iran to be close to the Atom bomb they mean to wipe us out with, preached indefensible 1967 borders.. Is it not enough you have destroyed the American economy? Divided the people of the Land of the Free, Weakened Democracy's Guardian Obama There is Blood on your hands in the Arab disaster, There is blood on your hands in Benghazi, now Egypt Keep Kerry at home ; Enough already

27. I like Bibi quote - that what I call Satemantship
Sam Sweiry ,   Eastbourne - UK   (07.03.13)
I like it - the only way you can get to the end of the negotiations is to begin them - If you pitch a tent between you and your opponement enter that tentand stay there until agreement reached - It is a business like - shake my hand and I shake yours but we dont have to agree on everything - let us have some understanding
28. its aint working
Brian ,   Boston USA   (07.03.13)
The worst Aveirah of this generation is the lack of Kedusha. The lack of Kedusha comes when: we allow our wives and daughters to "dress to kill" any time (weekday or Shabbos) outside of our homes. The lack of Kedusha comes when: we allow our children to be friends with all our neighbours and schoolmates no matter if their Hashkofos match up to our standards or not. The lack of Kedusha comes when: we go to the grocery store and purchase anything or almost everything that has a Hechsher with hebrew lettering on it, no matter if we know who the rabbi is certifying it or not, if he is trustworthy or not if he is even Shomer Shabbos or not, no need to mention eating Cholov Stam. The lack of Kedusha comes when: we don't have a problem mixing, mingling and Shmusing with the opposite sexes at Simchas, or when we leave Shul on Shabbos, work, stand on line in the bank, or travel etc. The lack of Kedusha comes when: we don't have a problem mocking the Rabbis speech on Shabbos morning (in front of the kids) if he was somewhat critical to our behavior, teaching our children that the Rabbi has no brains and trashing his meaningful speech, then who should they look up to? the ball players, the T.V. & movie stars? The lack of Kedusha comes when: we allow our children to have unprotected (no filter)access to the internet. The list goes on and on everyone can compile their own list in order to become true Ovday Hashem and keep all of the Torah commandments BsSimcha.
