1. We have brought Kerry upon ourselves just as Americans have
tom ,   tel aviv   (07.07.13)
brought Obama upon USA to drive it into the ground. "Two Lands for two People" -babble has whetted Husseins appetite for destruction (quote:-)
2.  Kerry, can you point how many terrorist the US released
Jerome   (07.07.13)
Mr. Kerry, can you point how many terrorist the US released in exchange for any thing? How many Mr. Kerry? But a Republic Banana will ask how many you ask (order) us to release
3. Events in Egypt must settle down
R ,   Israel   (07.07.13)
before any sort of agreement can be reached.
4. It's the Jew's fault
Paul ,   Jerusalem   (07.07.13)
If Israel were to rightfully declare itself and consciously believe this this is the 'Land of Israel', instead of the modern useless entity called, 'the State of Israel', the world would begin to understand Israel is not a recent International creation subject to diplomatic dissection. Israel is a land being reconquered from Islamic occupiers, not a foreign land hosting persecuted Europeans. Therefore, the Jews themselves alienated themselves from the historical truths investing them with the Rights of a people with inherited, just, claims to its own land. Jews themselves fail when they say the land is only necessary for 'security', and not because of established ownership.
5. Hagai hasn't even tried to understand US policy
Shachar ,   Eilat   (07.07.13)
Both Democrat and Republican presidents have carried out the same American ME policy for decades. It's solely about protecting American interests. The peace process is just a tool to get your fingers in the pie. America plays the mediator to keep both sides grovelling at it's feet and when it needs a favour it gets it.
6. Terrifying.
JaseR ,   Australia   (07.07.13)
Given the horror Muslims have been able to commit on each other in Syria, imagine if they ever overpowered the Israeli military. Truly scary. Kerry is like the owner of a burning house worrying about the colour of the front fence. It's irrelevant!
7. Assuming Kerry fails, then what does the future hold?
spyguy ,   seattle   (07.07.13)
Assuming Israeli once again succeeds in killing negotiations, has anyone in Israel thought about what happens after the US finally gives up? Do Israelis really think things will just go along as they are now? If so, for how long before everything turns horribly wrong? This is my FRUSTRATION with Israelis, they do not appear to be able to see beyond their greed for land and their paranoia to see where things will likely end up, based on the last 10000 years of human history.. All I see is massive delusion. Human history and game theory which is based on understanding how humans react in situations says this will end terribly for Israel IF Israelis keep on the current path. So all you "smart" Israelis what happens after the US washes its hands?
8. One State. Period.
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (07.07.13)
There is no ideal solution, but the least of the worst in one state. The geography and demographics of this small, very small, country disallow division into unworkable cantons. Will the Arabs agree to this? They might if they can be shaken from the concept of independence, purged from the idea of "occupation" and given support and confidence by the international community. They must be discouraged from believing that there ought to be a Palestine, and encouraged to cooperate with the Jews. There is absolutely no place on Earth where the Arabs have it better off than Israel. It is about time they admit it.
9. Ignorant and shallow
Awad ,   Brussels, Belgium   (07.07.13)
Amazing article of how shallow and ignorant Israeli commentators can be. Like it or not, the Palestinian question remains the principal Arab cause. Of course, there are other huge problems facing the whole Middle –East mainly political, economic and social, but the Arab Spring is just around the corner. There will be many ups and downs in the road to freedom and democracy. The French Revolution needed 92 years before declaring the Republic. It is coming. But Palestine is not going anywhere. It is there and will remain a thorn in your throats until justly resolved. Power drunkenness leads nowhere. There will never be peace, tranquillity or security for Israel until the Palestinian question is justly resolved. If I were you, Israelis, commentators, journalists… I would encourage Kerry and any one who would be interested in investing time for the resolution of this question, before it is too late. Do you have ears to hear or eyes to see?
10. #7 spyguy
aaron ,   toronto,canada   (07.07.13)
Get it into your thick brain that we Israelis(jews) once let others negotiate for us and paid with the lives of six million never again. This is the land of Israel home of the jews and NOBODY will tell us what to do (including usa).Tell these miserable arabs to go to Jordan where they belong,END OF STOREY.
11. Ignorant and shallow
igor ,   toronto Canada   (07.07.13)
you are
12. #7 Spyguy - Yes Israelis understand what can happen
Eric ,   Tel Aviv & NY   (07.07.13)
But can you understand what happens if Abbas gets what he is asking for? - return to the '48 armistice line with Jordan (June 4 '67 line is a marketing joke) - again ethnically cleanse the area that Jordan occupied in '48 from the Jews that lived there continuously for 3500 years - the "right of return" of the decedents of refugees into Israel - ignore the Jewish refugees that were violently kicked out of Arab countries - terrorists in Israel's capital (East Jerusalem) - terrorist less than 20 miles from the population center of Israel Etc. While Israel has already given countless "confidence building gestures" - hundreds of prisoners released to Fatah, only to have most of them return to violence against Israel - Left Gaza with a working economy and industry, only to have it torn down to make missiles that were shot at Israel - a 10 month build freeze, only to have "negotiations" resumed in the last month, and then only to discuss extending the freeze - 7 times offering to give up land for a Palestinian state, only to have it turned down 6 of the 7 times (we are still awaiting an answer from Olmert's "unprecedentedly generous" offer from 5 years ago So what would you have Israel do? The Palestinians want a state but their leaders want to use the excuse to stay in power.
13. Just Say "NO"
Mark of Lewiston ,   USA   (07.07.13)
Israel can always say no. Israel has been saying NO to US efforts and ideas for decades. No American effort has ever succeeded. Failure in the israel-Palestine conflict is the norm.
14. #13
R ,   Israel   (07.07.13)
What you wrote is a lie. Israel did not say no at Camp David, and it was Arafat who said no to a very generous offer from Barak. Israel has made dozens of confidence-building gestures and gotten nothing in return. But don't let the facts confuse you.
15. #11, Shallow and ignorant
Awad ,   Brussels, Belgium   (07.07.13)
Well, at least I had an argument. What is yours?
16. vietnam
dave ,   johannesburg   (07.07.13)
kerry has a short memory.remember when you fought in Vietnam and walked out with your tail between your legs.dont repeat the same here .you have just never learned
17. Looking for a place in the history books
Miracle Dog ,   Israel   (07.07.13)
With Bibi and all the others who are happy for Israel to give up large parts of strategic land, as a stepping stone to its own suicide. It would be nice to see less ego in politics.
18. #7 & #9 Soon
Israeli 2   (07.07.13)
Don't worry, soon everyone will realize that the best solution is not the BS, failed solution but a fresh and honest approach. Israel annexes all the lands including all of Jerusalem. Arabs (the so called Palis) to be repatriated to their original Jordan. Those who want to stay in Israel, may certainly stay after pledging their allegiance to it.
19. John Kerry
Susan Ireland ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.07.13)
John Kerry is very arrogant and full of himself. He doesn't have a clue as to the reality of the Middle East, and, worse, clearly doesn't realize that fact. Hillary Clinton was also in over her head, but, in retrospect, she seems like a foreign policy genius by comparison
20. 14 - Making an Offer is not Making a Deal
Mark of Lewiston ,   USA   (07.07.13)
Barak's offer failed, why is not relevant. Camp David failed. You want a deal that works, it has to be accepted by the PLO. Barak was generous from your perspective, but apparently not enough. You now have the ratification process, the Palestinian public to satisfy, not just a dictator. Failure of any and all US efforts remains the norm.
21. #19 Susan you have nailed it,spot on
Jeddorr ,   Back of Beyond   (07.07.13)
You have in a few lines laid bare the arrogance ignorance and stupidity of this Obama administration, the stumbling blind are leading each other in circles, and Israel is being sacrificed here,,,,,,,
22. Pals want 67 borders+right of return= all of Israel
Sam ,   Canada   (07.07.13)
No one including Kerry and Obama has changed Palestinian minds. All the mediators do is demand that Israel make more and more concessions in the hope Palestinians relent. If they don't relent Kerry and Obama want to give them a state anyways with a few security measures for Israel in the hope that will make all terrorism go away. It's the US being naive at Israel's expense.
23. HOw is it possible
PaulD ,   Jerusalem   (07.07.13)
that people with eyes and ears know how dysfunctional, unreliable, and hostile the Islamic world is among nations, among it's host countries, brother against brother, army against the politicians and still put the onus of responsibility on Jews to compromise for WHAT? Palestinians, a made up Islamic entity to provoke, and justify the Islamic addiction for hatred, bloodshed, and world conquest.. And, these supporters of Pals can't accept that their support for Pals is based on Jew-Hatred.
24. Good 1st paragraf..Syria 1000s dead,Egypt in flames
Alan ,   SA   (07.07.13)
but peace for peaceful Tel Aviv....What a bunch of idiots in WH and State Dept... Actually they only want to manouvre Israel into a defeated position ... It has nothing to do with peace-it is to destroy us in the longer term!
25. The Obama Admin is a Terrorist supporting Admin!
Father Abe   (07.07.13)
26. Pals want 67 borders+right of return= all of Israel
Sam ,   Canada   (07.07.13)

27. These are the people who are running the world..
Jeddorr ,   Back of Beyond   (07.07.13)
Our very existence depends on these fumbling amateurs who keep making judgements and decisions that will effect us in the present and the future.............Amazing..............
28. The meaning of Kerry in Hebrew
Dror ,   Haifai, israel   (07.07.13)
Kerry has a very negative conotation in Hebrew. It means to "go against" in Hebrew. Very suitable name for a mediator without a clue. He is pushing for concessions because he has to appease the Gulf State's Sheiks. Saudi and Qatar are funding the rebels in Syria for the Americans. He is trying to keep the game going in order to appease them.
29. America washing it's hands of Israel
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (07.07.13)
America will have a harder time washing off all of the blood from it's hands that it spilled in the mid east and central asia.
30. Kerry
Steve Goodman ,   Israel   (07.07.13)
John go back to spreading Heinz 57 kinds, and stop spreading your "BS" in Israel, get a ckue, get a life, and get out of the Middle East, or better yet go back to your "Yacht" that you were never "ON"
