1. Sorry?
Mike ,   UK   (07.09.13)
Isn't this guy a ex-public servant? All after the event, how noble. If he had concerns then he should have resigned and got another job.
2. TO LATE:
Badbob ,   NYC USA   (07.09.13)
This is what we told all the solders then I remember it like yesterday telling them "don't do it for your sake you wont be able to live with it" now its to late all has been ripped away from the brave Gush Katif residents. LO NISHKACH LO NISLACH!! I myself suffered mentally after it happened, and I did not live there. Shame on every solder that took part!!
3. Yes, this expulsion was a huge stain in the government
Pinny   (07.09.13)
just like the humungous stain of the government when they kidnapped aprox 5,000 Yemenite children about 70 years ago and gave them to who knows whom, and secularized the rest of them. This is the same government who want to continue their job of secularizing charedim.
4. Clear conciense
Avi ,   BELGIUM   (07.10.13)
I have a clear conciense, I marched through the night to prevent this racist expulsion..which is against any human rights!! Never forget you gush katif!!
5. And I marched for the pullout
Debbie ,   Israel   (07.10.13)
The pullout was correct - what was wrong was the way our government handled it. What was wrong then and now is how nothing was done to help the people from Gush Katif. But we were right to pull out
6. To Debbie # 5
Yosef Busner ,   Afula, Israel   (07.10.13)
I hope they 'handle you right' when they kick you and and any family you have from your home!
7. #5, Those who carried out the expulsion disagree
Jake   (07.10.13)
and voice regret. Those are the people that you would have do your dirty work in future. Well it's not going to happen.
8. Sharon and all the israeli politicians are criminals
(07.10.13)
9. #7 He does not say that he did the
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (07.10.13)
wrong thing, only that it was especially painful for him given his close relationship with the people he had to evict. I too hope that the government learned from Gaza and that future withdrawals will be handled better as well as the follow-up and re-settlement of the settlers.
10. painful but necessary
israeli paratrooper   (07.10.13)
it was painful but necessary . by withdrawing from gaza , we rid ourselves on a no win situation with 1.5 million arabs . next move , parts of the west bank . jewish israel go go go
11. re-settle all the settelments!! The ONLY way
meny, ,   NY U.S.A   (07.10.13)
12. Beautiful heart.
Monte Petersen ,   Pagosa Springs U.S.A   (07.10.13)
What a beautiful heart of repentance for giving up a small plot of land. God bless him, shalom.
13. #5 so you supported ethnic cleansing
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (07.10.13)
We got - it. It was illegal as well as immoral. You were wrong then and after 8 years and over 10,000 rockets and mortars on our cities - you are still wrong.
14. #9, Keep deluding yourself.
Jake   (07.10.13)
What Maj. Gen. Ben Yishai actually said is this: "As an officer who protected the residents of the Gush (Katif), I found myself evicting you from your homes and lands, and you were an example of true love of the land for me personally and for all the people of Israel... I envied you for your faith in your endeavors". It's a wonder how you can come to the incredible conclusion that his pain is only due to "the close relationships with the people he had to evict". If you think this is all down to the government finding a better way to conduct expulsions in the future, you are only deluding yourself. You can't put lipstick on a pig.
15. #9: How about NO future withdrawals?
Steve Klein   (07.10.13)
16. #2 and #6
Ilan ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (07.10.13)
you two are absolutely right! we should have only pulled out the soldiers, and left all the settlers there! After the Palestinians finished slaughtering all the settlers, we should have shown pictures of their dead children to the world. maybe the world would understand what Israel is Really dealing with! get over yourselves! excusing yourselves to pour acid on 18 year olds! SHAME ON YOU!
17. No.
Uzziel   (07.10.13)
G-d will not forgive you.
18. Few in Israel today don't question the wisdom of expelling
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (07.10.13)
our fellow Jewish citizens in 2005 from their homes, property and communities of Gaza and the northern Samaria for the sake of peace that has never come and is not likely to appear on the horizon any time soon. And yet, sadly, some abroad continue to talk about limiting the living space of Jews on this good earth, only because they are Jewish - a clear act of anti-Jewish racism - while refusing to few reality face-to-face and realize: The Arabs are not interested in this or that territory for peace's sake; they are interested in the entire territory of Israel for the same of ensuring Israel's demise and the "cleansing" of the Jews from all of their ancestral homeland.
19. Israel must retake all our abandoned lands.
Chaim ,   Israel   (07.10.13)
Israeli concessions and retreats are painful for the same reason it is painful to touch a hot stove. It is painful because it is wrong. Israeli retreats bring Israel nothing but mass murders, maimings and rockets on our cities and towns. It is way past time to end the insanity. Israel must retake all our abandoned lands.
20. On ninth of Av have Gush Katif in mind...
Asher ,   NY,USA   (07.10.13)
21. to #9 there will be no further withdraw
ghostq   (07.10.13)
palestinians will have to abandon any armed straglling against Israel, and recognizing Israel as the state for the jews.
22. I wonder if palis will do the same in swap
ghostq   (07.10.13)
lands deal, they will have to evacute people as well.
23. they committed a great sin
jay abouaf ,   jaffa israel   (07.10.13)
these cowards ignored the most fundamental rules of Human Rights and decency
24. g-d
rm ,   Amsterdan, NL   (07.10.13)
G-d does not do land! That's all human business. Got nothing to do with anything holy so keep him out of it.
25. Ben-Ishai still justifies what he did.
Zev ,   Israel   (07.10.13)
For that there is no forgiveness.
26. More pullouts to come
Eldar ,   Haifa   (07.10.13)
The settlers defied international and Israeli law and settled illegally. By doing so, they - masterfully - dragged the entire country down the hole that will eventually destroy us. As if the settlers didn't know what they were doing - innocents just trying to live their lives. Give me a break.
27. Nasty
Debbie ,   Israel   (07.10.13)
That is what I see reading these talk backs. When I say the Gov't handled the pullout wrong - what I mean 1) PM Sharon should of worked out some type of deal with the PA. and not just left for nothing. 2) Why didn't the government plan communities to move these people too. replace their homes - assist with jobs Or do the people we moved out of Gaza prefer to think of themselves as victims. To #6 - don't wish on anyone what you wouldn't want done to you. I've lived with missiles for 8 years - # 6 I'm sure you are now wishing one would fall on me and my home I'm proud of our army and police for doing something that was so painful.
28. Cry now....... but you will still burn in hell...........
Rebecca ,   Israel   (07.10.13)
HaShem does not forgive for what you did and how you treated your brothers and sisters. You don't deserve mercy.
29. While the main criminal is sound "asleep" the other one is
tom ,   tel aviv   (07.10.13)
being celebrated by world-figures & Hollywood "Importantes".... no justice in this world.
30.  #28 Oh Rebecca
Debbie ,   Israel   (07.10.13)
My heart breaks for you - so much hate you live with. How do you know what HaShem forgives and doesn't forgive. In the same vein I'm sure HaShem is proud of him and all that were part of the Gaza Disengagement.
