I do not see why we are objecting to this. give the UN enough rope to hang itself so that everyone will clearly see the lunacy. the HR council has already demonstrated its lack of validity. this nomination will simply make this more obvious. Umm shmumm.

Talking about clean records... Israel has still less chances than any other country to apply for the HRC. Just check the number of resolutions condemning Israel and the abuses the country has committed over the years against fellow Palestinians... Israel, North Korea, Iran and Sudan are in the same boat.

First, Israel isn't running for a spot. We acknowledge the problems we have and work towards solving them. Places like Syria and Iran will claim they are perfect. They kill gays because they aren't valued as being human like other people, they treat women poorly because religious texts say they can, they have excuses for every rights abuse. So they feel they are perfect and want to impose their perfection on the rest of us.

Second nobody can complain against Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and company because because they are in the same boat. HR is freedom of religious (can we build a synagogue or church in Mecca?). Third most of the countries members are 3rd world, jealous of progressive countries such as ISRAEL (there is more freedom of speech in ISRAEL than in the HCR)

Iran should have the portfolio for gay rights and Syria the portfolio for minority religions' rights.
