One of the ideological reasons for Zionism and the establishment of the Jewish state was that once we were to have our own country, and be a nation with our own land (and not homeless vagabonds strewn about world; foreign bodies in foreign lands), and we would then be treated like all the other peoples of the world. There would no longer be an excuse to hate the Jew. Zionism was considered an antidote for anti-Semitism. Many denied that thesis, and they were right. Israel, as the homeland for the Jew, is only justified because the Torah gave this land to us. All other reasons are fallacious. All that has happened is that the Goyim have substituted anti-Israel for anti-Semitism. But, that is merely semantics.

When I lived in the USA, I heard people talk about the passover blood ritual from time to time from stupid people, I always would ask them one question... How did Jews perform the ritual before Jesus was born? If the ritual required Christian blood and Christians didn't exist for about a thousand years after the Exodus from Egypt, how did we make our Matzah each year? It makes no sense that we celebrated our exodus from egypt for a thousand years before encorporating some stupid ritual into that needed a religion that hadn't existed up until then. Unfortunately, clarity normally makes people hostile... especially when you wave it in their faces.

Jardo, I agree, the blood libel article in Aftonbladet is one of the worst and most vicious in recent years, overall the media situation in Sweden (and Norway) is especially severe, made me move from there and I am not even Jewish, it's just that although the Swedish society is quite nice on a person to person level; the public discourse is extremely suffocating.

Israeli society is corrupted by the illegal occupation of the West Bank and by the succeeding governments which only preach for more separatism and segregation. When Israelis will actually show to the world that they're capable of being a modern and stable country, the world will be more clement towards them. Intelligent people to be able to distinguish between the actions of a Gov't and the actions, characteristics of a people living in a country. The recent cartoons in the German Press were using an old anti Semitic characture to criticise the actions of the IL Govt. As a Turk, I am sure Anton would be offended if cartoons in Europe criticising the actions of the Turkish Gov't used the old stereotype of the blood thirsty Ottoman hell bent on baksheesh and khazouk in the souk. Legitimate criticism of Israel's bad behavior is not antisemitism. The chicken and the egg are two different things, what came first is the real question. One is racism, the other is legitimate criticism.
