1. Another 1000 sayanims to keep in check
Kaspain   (07.25.13)
just in case they try to migrate to USA in the future. These people need to be kept in check.
2. Betcha over 1/2 will go back in under 5 years....
(07.25.13)
most of them are coming because of hard economic times in the USA. When they realize that it is financially more difficult here they'll go back.

6. Alyah is a lure
(07.25.13)
Israel is a third world country full of hatred, violence and racism. A separationist society that is only composed of ghettos. The economy is not thriving and the salaries are those of a third world country with very high prices. A government so much corrupted that no one has the power to change it and a country going slowly but surely towards a Jewish version of Iran.
7. #1,2 well with a 'welcome' like that, what would you expect?

9. Most Will Be Disillusioned In Three Years
World Citizen ,   the world   (07.26.13)
Most Americans are a civil people. They are polite to a fault. When these olim see how sabras treat each other and how they treat and feel about olim; well let's just say it will be a shock. Can we say lambs thrown into a wolf culture?
10. Shame on posts describing life in Israel as inferior
Nehama ,   Afula   (07.26.13)
I made Aliyah with Nbn in 2011 with 4 kids including newborn. It's tough but quality of life richer not poorer than America. I find Israelis warm and loving. My children doing great with schools and healthcare excellent. These new Olim don't need to hear such negativity.
11. To anonymous #6, #8, #9, get over yourselves
Jake   (07.26.13)
These are kids. Most of them will be be able to adapt and find their niche in their new setting. In many cases, one or both of their parents are returning Israelis. I hate to break it to you, but the Jewish population of Israel has surpassed 6 million and continues to grow, at an ever-increasing growth rate. Problems and caveats aside, the country is thriving. And the economic gap between Israel and most of the Arab world is only widening as time goes by. Worry about the Arab world's plight, and stop using Israel as a distraction from your reality. And by the way, it's not only these Jews who are leaving the United States. Many educated, affluent people are leaving, while 12 million illegal aliens will soon have a path to citizenship. Even most of the legal immigration now is from the 3rd world - Latin America, Subharan Africa, the Islamic countries.
12. What percentage remain 18 months later?
Gorilla X   (07.27.13)
This is a very simple question but nigh impossible to get an answer to from the journo-schmournos. Common sense tells us that as there are no jobs available in Israel for immigrants, and especially not for Anglos, that all those who do not have independent wealth or some other community support network, will have to go back.
13. Israel is a the 3rd world country
(07.27.13)
it's true. I was disillusioned in three months, not years.
14. #11 you are a joke
Linda ,   New Haven, Conn.   (07.27.13)
Israelis live in fear 24/7, raising children under this pressure will only result in the "frightened dog" syndrome, somebodies get bit and the dog maybe rabid.
15. good luck them all, but
(07.27.13)
Why don't they treat Latin America olim the same way? They push you into a dirty rubbish mercaz klitah. What a big disappointment !
16. America is already a 3rd World Banana Republic
Alon ,   Americans escaping   (07.27.13)
The government is spying on its own citizens.& regularly fakes inflation, GDP, unemployment numbers etc The US is bankrupt & totally insolvent. How now a $16 Trillion economy ever repay $100 Trillion debt? How long until the Chinese decide to allow the dollar to collapse??
17. The Truth
Andi ,   Israel   (07.27.13)
I've lived in Israel for 19 years and I have hardly come across an Anglo immigrant who has left because they don't like it here. Most leave because they can't make it financially, and of these a proportion are just not flexible enough and others don't give it long enough- at least two years. This is no different to immigrants to other countries.
18. #17 is not The Truth
Gotta face reality ,   T.Aviv   (07.28.13)
You may not know, in your little circle, of anyone who's returned but you clearly don't access the dozens of ads stating the reason for sale as "going back." Perhaps your friends came with plenty of money and happy clappy Zionistic idealism, which is cool, but idealism doesn't feed the family. Many people are NOT finding jobs, and when they do, the pay is pathetic, the cost of living off the radar, and the working conditions... well, a study of these worldwide put Israel right towards the bottom of the benefits/work conditions list. Families tend to settle easier but of the singles, I predict more than half returning within three years: they get the least benefits, the lowest salaries and are freaked out by the disgusting landlords and even worse hovels they end up sharing. Sorry, but 90% of those I met when I came are no longer here. If I had a choice - and unfortunately I don't - I'd have done the same.
