1. Science of Surrender
A Simple Jew ,   Beer Sheva   (08.07.13)
Dear Professor: I have a few questions regarding this "peace process" which you support: 1. Do you support the mass expulsion of 100 to 150 thousand Jews, as demanded by Abbas? And 2. Do you support the creation of a PA state which can be taken over by Hamas (democratically) or which ally itself with Iran? 3. Do you support the release of 100+ murderers just to sit at the table with Abbas? 3. If Jerusalem is on the table, do you propose turning over Arabs in Arab neighborhoods over to the PA against their will? Or, do you believe they should have a say in their fate? I would love to hear your answers.
2. David H: Thanks for making me laugh.
Israeli 2   (08.07.13)
How much did the PM and his camp pay you to write this? The only statement I agree with you on is your last one. "Just run, Bibi, please run!" Yes indeed, he should run out of Israel - Fast!
3. FREEZE Bibi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (08.07.13)
THOSE SURRENDER TALKS ARE DOOMED !
4. Nowhere to run. Swim, Harel, swim !
2Mad ,   גולה בצרפת   (08.07.13)
For if ever, HaShem forbid, you manage to throw habitants of Juda and Shomron under the bus - it's You who'll be next "schtettler".

8. "Peace talks" intended to destroy Israel.
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.07.13)
It is totally obvious to any literate child, capable of reading a map, that the "peace talks with Palestinians" are intended to destroy Israel. Their first objective is to turn Israel into a 9 mile wide concentration camp. This article is pathetic B.S. Polls show most Israelis oppose any further Israeli retreat. NOBODY has the right to give our sole tiny Homeland away. More and more Israelis are fed up with the lies and prepared to stop the monstrous charade.
9. David, It's a great article
arne ,   chicago usa   (08.07.13)
Let's all hope he's running in the right direction and not north to Oslo, Norway.
10. # 1
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (08.07.13)
Any answer you get from the author of this left wing garbage will be more mindless drivel. You can't reason with someone who thinks peace can be made with people whose only desire in life is to wipe Israel and Jews off the map. You won't get peace anymore than Britain got peace when they tried to negotiate with Hitler. This professor isn't bright enough to see that.
11. and may the terror rockets land in your area
Steve ,   San Francisco   (08.07.13)
Then Mr. Harel I want to see your face and hear your reasoning. Will you be cheerleading then?
12. Deep, profound words
Birdi ,   Israel   (08.07.13)
from a professor of the Weizmann Institute. Not. Yeah, sure, Bibi must cave into Abbas & the Israel haters. No Bibi, don't run, stand your ground & don't give up an inch of Jewish land.
13. Professor from Chelm.
michael Pielet ,   israel   (08.07.13)
Some very smart people, in one area, are absolute idiots in others. What Harel wants is terror, death, murder and war. He wants an arab terrorist state created in Judea and Samaria, aligned with the Islamic terrorist state of iran, at the gates of Jerusalem and gush Dan. question, how did such a nincompoop become a professor?
14. Here's what Harel forgets about Forest Gump's "Jenny"
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (08.07.13)
She was an abused child. And Harel suffers from what Dr. Kenneth Levin calls "Oslo Syndrome". Indeed, as a "peace activist", he also exhibits from what Levin calls the "delusions of a people under siege". And while Jenny engaged in self-destructive behavior, Harel wants *Israel* to engage in what many of us would consider self-destructive behavior, including appeasing Israel's enemies while leaving Israel bereft of its sovereign rights and vulnerable. Scientists, however noble their pursuits, aren't the best versed in the struggles between nations. Were Israel to follow Harel's course and things go awry, he'll have no trouble finding a prestigious post outside Israel. And as Jews count the new "sacrifices for peace", no doubt Harel will blame Netanyahu for not running fast enough.
15. Pr. David Harel
Alice ,   Israel/Canada   (08.07.13)
Run Prof. Harel. Run from yourself and from your leftist propaganda. Stop preaching your surrender views. Israel belongs to the Jewish People point stop. I don't even know what you and your likes are doing in Israel. I suppose , no other country will want you, Professor. !
16. assertion of israeli sovereignty
marcel   (08.07.13)
arabs know that the koran says the people of the book belong to israel. they view zionists as european colonizers. So long as labour and and llikud negotiate 2 state withi concessions, peace will not be had. Arabs have to see the jews from their koranic legitimate roots as people of the book and israelis have to advocate. Ross, kurtzer, weisglass as is obama are all dead wrong on concessions and splitting the land up which will not work ever. You cannot have 2 lichtensteins with 2 peoples, one which acts like lichtenstein, and the others pushing arab rrights for every clod of grass as a religion unto itself. Israelis have to be israelis not european and american compromisers. Also jordan'sland has to be brought into the discussion. Why does no one talk about it . There are 5 million jordanians in 80 % of the original mandate which belongs to israeli sovereign with citizen rights for arabs.
17. Peace is only solution
Dave ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (08.07.13)
I hope Bibi and Abbas finalize an agreement which ends this mad conflict. Anyone who thinks Israel is showing weakness by allowing Palestinian sovereignty in the West Bank is only fooling himself, weakness is to bow down to delusional extremists.
18. Run, Bibi, Run
JG ,   SANTA BARBARA, USA   (08.07.13)
Thank you Dr. Harel. I don't think anyone could have said it better!

21. Trouble with ashkenaz intelligensia IS
Norbus ,   Jerusalem   (08.07.13)
that they do not understand what is outside their internal vision; ie they do not do reality.. Arabs say it clearly, often enough, and to the encouragement of the West's left. Thery want to wipe out Israel off the map. They tried in 6 wars What in the Left Intelligensia's head is a vision of a garden of Eden. You get that from either Hallucination, or Ignorance. Politics of the left can have a hallucinatory effect. Atheists with leftism as the religion
22. #21 You are still living in the 70s
Dave ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (08.08.13)
Nowadays the Arab leadership, even Hamas top officials, have accepted a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza. The only relevant Arab entity which still trullly rejects an threatens Israel is the Lebanese Hezbollah, but if Israel and Palestinians reach a peace deal they will be isolated.
23. The professor is completly nuts.
efi ,   USA   (08.07.13)
24. #1 One person's response
On the Balcony ,   Akko/NY/Kyiv   (08.08.13)
1. Yes,. as the Israeli government noted when withrawing from Gaza, every settler knows that s/he is building a home on "disputed territory" which might not remain theirs when the dispute is over. Settlers far from the "green line" know this reality better than anyone. 2. Yes, Israel will be better positioned diplomatically and militarily to defend itself against the threat of a foreign state than from an "occupied people." 3. If we executed murderers as we should then we would not face this problem; that said, the release of prisoners strengthens Abbas's ability to negotiate and is perhaps a necessary evil. 3. [sic] Arab-Israeli's should and likely will have the right to relocate to Israeli controlled areas.
25. #18 harel is it you?
efi ,   USA   (08.08.13)
26. "Run Spot run!"

StevieT ,   USA   (08.08.13)
I hope he finds a willing partner when the running stops.
28. Nationalism + occupation = Fascism
Stan ,   Israel   (08.08.13)
About 90% of the talkbacks to all articles about Israel and the Palestinians favour tough Israeli answers to the problem. Now I can understand how it happened that the majority of people in a big and powerful European country with well educated people were willing to vote for a leader whose nationalism led to the cruel occupation of a large part of Europe, but also, to the eventual destruction of that country. Israel does not face military destruction, but if this cancerous occupation is not ended soon, ever increasing boycott will eventually destroy the country, as it did in SA
29. What a joke of an article
Shep ,   Memphis, tn   (08.08.13)
I mean really...........how can Bibi make a peace agreement with Abbas when he represents nobody? A papered over peace agreement forced by Obama will lead to Israel losing land and still having a Palestinian conflict to deal with. Hazards should have taught this writer a lesson. This is a pathetic display of how radical and alone the far left has become..this writer couldn't find 1000 Israelis to support his perspective...unless they were Arab Israelis.
30. David Harel believes in unsustainable peace
Alan ,   Canada   (08.08.13)
In approvingly seeing signs that Netanyahu is moving towards a peace agreement with (only) the West Bank Palestinians, he necessarily trust that such a peace has lasting value & that it does not worsen the already tense security situation of the country. One can only wonder how he could forget that as long as Iran & its radical followers in Gaza & Lebanon have the upper hand on the minds of most Palestinians there is no reliable peace & security. Whether it is religious beliefs or the fear of the extremists, most Palestinians do not accept the existence of Israel & cannot be reliable peace partners especially when vital security is at great risk should such a phantom peace be recklessly tried. The extremist's current power in the Middle East has first to be reduced to a tolerable level if it can't be eradicated in the short or medium term in spite of the (meager) gains towards democracy of the "Arab Spring". Priorities count in the survival of Israel, not peace at any cost.
