31. "How will the Palestinian state
A ,   Belgium   (08.08.13)
look if it will be split by a chain of Israeli communities?" Hopefully as non existant as it looks now.
32. #17, 18, 24 Unfortunately, for you,
A ,   Belgium   (08.08.13)
you will never be "Israelis". Israel doesn't want you (nor do your arab bretheren in other countries apparantly), Israel doesn't need you (there are plenty of E. Europeans and Asians who do the dirty jobs that you do, and better), and Israel is not responsible for you. Which is why electricity, water, gas, money, everything that you get for free from Israel, should be stopped immediatly. You need electricity? Build your own power stations, Israel did Need fresh water? Build your own purification systems, Israel did. Need money? Stop begging and start working. Israel did You people are pathetic! Which is why, in the end, your only hope for a "palestine" will be found in the illegal Hashemite kingdom, where you will probably face two options. One, Abdallah kills a whole bunch of you like his daddy did, or two, he runs away (the most likely option). And then you will have your "palestine", to destroy as you wish I wish you great success.
33. #29. Why talk to "Palestinians" at all?
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.08.13)
#29. There is only one legitimate topic of conversation between Israel and the "Palestinian" poseurs who seek to murder us and steal our sole tiny Homeland. The terms of permanent "Palestinian" departure from our land.
34. Doesn't want peace!!!?
Alpero ,   NYC USA   (08.08.13)
Israel frees over 100 terrorists for Abbas to start peace talks and you say it doesn't want peace!?
35. # 30 Who told you Israelis have a choice?
Mohammad Said ,   Ramallah Israel   (08.08.13)
Sorry to disappoint you, but Israel has no choice. As the Palestinians paid a huge price for not accepting two States, now is Israel turn. You can scream and foam that the land is yours, but there are 4 million Arabs living in it and they will NEVER be removed. They will fight for rights and for their citizenship. I told you, Sam, google the civil rights struggle in South Africa and USA and you will see that the speech is the same as yours "Who said Israel will give?" . It is not a question of will, but civl struggle, international support, pressure and sanctions. It is just a question of time, trust me. It is up to Palestinians choose if they want a fractured State, full of problems or give up the national dream and join the construction of Israel together with what will remain of Jews (considering that as soon as the binational state is announced, 50% of Jews with double passport will have left). The more settlements, the better for the Palestinians. Build, habibi, build. How do you say "social security benefits" in Hebrew?
36. Gush Katif model
Aviela ,   Migron RC, Israel   (08.08.13)
There's always the Gush Katif model, where the land is then used to lob missiles into Israeli cities. Maybe we should try that one again?
37. To Michael, #11
Jake   (08.08.13)
If it is true that "the settlement movement is the most powerful lobby in Israel", that is only because "the settlement movement" is close to the hearts and minds of most Israelis. Unlike the post-Zionist/anti-Zionist Left, who are, by contrast, a powerful lobby only OUTSIDE of Israel, amongst those who do not have the best interests of Israel and the Jews at heart...to put it mildly. Wikileaks recently shed light on this fact, revealing that B'tselem receives about 95% of its budget from the EU and European organizations. By the way, I find it odd that you would demonize the "settlements" and "settlers", as if these are obscene words. Aren't you yourself a settler in Haifa? Didn't you yourself immigrate to Israel?
38. Mohammad #35, I think you are confused
Jake   (08.08.13)
The 2-state solution is the official policy of the Israeli government and several previous ones. What Israel and Israelis are opposed to is the ceding of parts of Jerusalem and a return to the pre-1967 lines.
39. #35. "Palestinians" will end up in Jordan & elsewhere.
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.08.13)
#35 Mohammad. You're drinking the koolaid, once again. Since 1948, your self serving leaders have been feeding you rubbish while they fill their Swiss bank accounts at your expense. In 1948 they promised you swift victory over Jews and they've been lying to you ever since. When all is said and done, "Palestinian" poseurs will end up in Jordan and elsewhere.
40. THINK & LEARN
georgeo   (08.08.13)
anybody who insists on a contigupous palestinian state is begging for a holocaust that will dwarf the holocaust of 70years ago. anybody who disagrees with this fact is either ignorant, supid, blind , in denial or worse..... THINK, READ, LEARN, KNOW, SEEK TRUTH, DO NOT LIE......
41. What does Weisglass know about making peace?
Rachel ,   US   (08.09.13)
42. Weisglass: Missing the Obvious
Bill ,   New York, USA   (08.09.13)
Does Mr. Weisglass understand what is going on? This is not about negotiation between Israel and the Palestinians, but between Israel and the U.S. Recall there was an exchange of letters that Weisglass in part engineered. Israel removed settlements from Gaza and isolated West Bank outposts and the US recognized Israeli control up to the construction line reflecting demographic changes. Obama came in and Hillary Clinton lied about the existence of the exchange of letters, pretending there were no US commitments. So what Bibi is doing is obvious: if there is no US commitment to recognizing demographic changes, then there is no Israeli commitment to removing outposts. This should be obvious to Mr. Weisglass. Bibi is trying to salvage the Weisglass project. Does he understand?
43. Peace talks with Israel are a waste
James ,   Canada   (08.09.13)
These actions by Israel prove that they don't seek a genuine peace and that peace talks with Netanyahu are a waste of time. Israel doesn't seem interested in peace--it seems more interested in taking whats left of the Palestinian lands and driving them all out. That appears to be the goal.
44. #26 It will never get to that stage
Zev ,   Israel   (08.09.13)
45. Zionism
michael Pielet ,   israel   (08.09.13)
The agreement with Bush was cancelled by Obama, when Obama became President. Weisglas wants to create an arab terrorist state in Judea and Samaria, aligned with the Islamic terrorist state of Iran to be situated at the gates of Jerusalem and Gush Dan, and to be contiguous.
46. This is not how you make peace
George Weiss ,   Teaneck, USA   (08.09.13)
Bibi finally made a good move. This gives the Arabs an incentive to make a deal or they will lose everything. If they know nothing will change, they have no incentive to make compromises. Also, I have yet to hear what the Arabs will give in return for a freeze, except for more talk.
47. #31 Belgium
Harold ,   USA   (08.09.13)
The Palestinian State will not look like a Swiss Cheese Goerge W Bush said it will look like a real state within nine months. It will be done because we have a different Sheriff in town.
48. Same old dance, one step forward two steps back
Shachar ,   Eilat   (08.09.13)
One step forward two steps back, one step forward two steps back....now why do you think peace has never looked more distant?
49. The Pestillians MUST leave J & S !
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (08.09.13)
50. #48. The WW II Allies showed us how peace is really made.
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.09.13)
#48. Why is peace distant? Because Israel has yet to achieve resounding victory against "Palestinian" poseurs, with no concessions. Peace negotiations are no more than answer for Israel than they were for the WW II Allies. We can be thankful the Allies were to wise to hold "peace talks" with the Nazis. Otherwise, what is left of the world would all speak German.
51. #47. Palestine is forever fictional.
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.09.13)
#47. We may well get another fictional Palestine statehood proclamation. To join many other such proclamations in the dustbin of history. But Palestine is forever fictional.
52. #47 George W. Bush also stood up in his air force
A ,   Belgium   (08.10.13)
Halloween costume and proclaimed "mission accomplished". 3,000 dead Americans later it finally was. If it was anyone else who would make the ridiculous statement about "palestine" being "a real state within nine months", I'd be worried. And as for your "different sheriff", Cleavon Little made a much better black sheriff in "Blazing Saddles" than Oblabla in "The White House"
53. Harold's sheriff must be....
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (08.10.13)
Barney Fife in the White House.
54. THIS GUY IS A JOKE!
yoni   (08.10.13)
Weisglass, you are the last guy in the world who should be talking about how [not] to make peace, you Oslo sinner!
55. Giving up settlements!!
Ros ,   Tel Aviv   (08.11.13)
If we were giving up settlements for the Palestinians to "take over". live in the houses and grow produce in the hothouses then everyone would be prepared to move out for peace - but what happens - the houses and hothouses are destroyed and rocket launchers are put in their place - THAT IS NOT PEACE!!!!!
56. 2 State Solution is the Ideal
David in California ,   California, USA   (08.11.13)
Mohammad....I see the logic in what you write, and many Israelis who support settlement expansion unfortunately don't understand that all it is doing is making the 1-state solution more likely than the 2-state solution. I urge everyone I can influence to work NOW for a 2-state solution before it is too late. Otherwise, what you described is what will actually happen. While it will be prosperous, a 1-state solution will not be Jewish or Muslim in its identity, and that is not a good thing.
57. Islam Pays for the Holocaust
Zechariah   (08.13.13)
Although Islam did not have genocide most are now happy it occurred because there would be now forty million Jews to deal with most Zionist because few lands would accept so many Jews.
