1. That will last them 1 week as they set up life in Israel
Naftali   (08.17.13)
2. $ 10.000 for newly wed couples
yoel ,   Israel   (08.17.13)
Is Nefesh ben Nefesh now bribing couples to come here its a disgrace- if they want to come it should be of their own free will- is it because they are from the USA or other countries in Europe? when we came there was nothing no one gave us any insentives, we came here because we wanted and spent al our savings to get here- so stop this bull-*hit-
3. Yes, Yoel, it definitely is an incentive, but what's wrong
miri ,   israel   (08.17.13)
with that ? All best wishes for a smooth settlement and integration here in Israel. Very important that they learn some basic Hebrew. I'm sure they will have a much easier time to adjust than I did when I arrived over 55 years ago ! But then my husband - a sabra - had promised we would be returning to the States after he served the time he owed to the airforce !
4. probably they will use the money for a return flight.
ka ,   toronto   (08.17.13)
5. Right on, #4! Israel is no paradise.
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (08.17.13)
When they realise how life is there they will need that money to escape.
6. Be happy ,enjoy the stay &the money.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.17.13)

8. What a Joke
Sheik rattle & roll ,   USA   (08.17.13)
You need $10,000 a month to maintain an American "lower" middle class life style in Israel. You drive small cars that cost twice the price of a Ford Mustang in the States. Mcdonalds is 3 times the price, gas is 2 plus times the price and even though the weather is scorching hot, most homes don't come equipped with a pool or central air conditioning and are almost as half the size as an American one and your salary will be cut in half or more. Other than that good luck.
9. I don't know..
Adi ,   Netanya   (08.18.13)
what people think. But most European Jews don't get anything when they move to Israel. Only the Americans get funding and housing While European Jews are struggling in Europe the only people Israel focus on is the American Jews. I don't get this obsession and don't see a reason why they get extra funding or extra help above other people. A lot of them aren't even Jewish according to the laws in Israel. Why the focus?
10. Honeymoon Money And Then.... Run Back Home To States
World Citizen ,   the world   (08.17.13)
Yes they will be living large for a week or two.. sipping fine wine and eating on the Israeli taxpayers. Then on the last night, when the money has run out and the full realization of what it means to move to a country where the wages are low and the average sabra doesn't like you.... What do you want to bet that they'll put their dark sunglasses on and beat a hasty retreat to the airport for the cheapest airplane seats back home.
11. To #8 (and also 4 and 5)
Andi ,   Israel   (08.18.13)
And most houses in the US don't have pools and central air conditioning or hadn't you noticed looking through you $10000 diamond encrusted Rayban shades (Just for the record, most houses and appartments in Israel do have air conditioning.) What we do have in Israel are different values- something you living in your "pools, air conditioning and big car" bubble of materialism, would never understand. I bet you'll be buying an even bigger car soon. Well done! Wooooh!!!
12. #2 Right on..and more than that
Netanya ,   Netanya   (08.18.13)
In the years since I made Aliyah,1996 (and got nothing) there were many Americans who were forced to go back to USA, due to finances, especially in 2008 etc when the tech market fell. I asked Nefesh to Nefesh to help them. I am speaking of Americans who made Aliyah, were given nothing, and had learned the language and been here for 10 yrs or more. The group Nefesh to Nefesh wouldn't help them with one penny. Nefesh to Nefesh is a shame to Israel and anyone who makes aliyah. In the end, most of those who came with this group and are given money, will go back after 3 yrs or 5 (the number of years you need to stay to not need to repay NBN) If Nefesh to Nefesh were really concerned with helping aliyah, it would first help those who came with nothing and were given nothing and did everything to try to stay. There are lots of us who are just making ends meet and some that cannot even do that today, so help them first. Bringing more will not help the problem, it will leave more Americans who made Aliyah alone live without food and in poverty. That is all this group is doing. If they have money, they should help the Americans who really need it and are already here, since there is no group for that!!
13. Save it for the return airfare
Devorah   (08.18.13)
14. to #8 Americans eat junk, no wonder you
lili   (08.18.13)
battle obisity, mcdonald is not good quality food, people eat much better food in Israel. in places like miami is very hot and humid most of the year. and our cars need less gas than your cars, you spend extra gas per full tank. actually you spend more money for these machines.

HOW CAN YOU MAKE COMMENTS WHEN YOU LIVE IN CANADA??? ARE YOU ISRAELI'S WHO LEFT ISRAEL?
16. Americans are escaping from Uncle S(c)am
Lewis ,   Tel Aviv   (08.18.13)
As the US dollar collapses, we will saw more of these escapees relocating to israel. Real unemployment in US is more like 23%, real inflation is 8% and real GDP growth is negative. Unless your one of the 1% bankster-elites, leaving the US is the only serious option
17. MAZAL TOV!! Yallah some positivity commenters!!

mark ,   ca   (08.18.13)
You are joking, aren't you? If someone considering to immigrate from US for the economic reason, Israel would be the last place to go to. They may consider Canada or Australia.
19. #15
ka ,   toronto   (08.18.13)
I'm an Israeli, but I've also lived in the USA. I prefer living in Canada, closely followed by USA. I do not want to live in Israel, and fortunately I do not have to. Life is tougher in Israel, and dealing with the people is also tougher.
20. to #19
Andi ,   Israel   (08.18.13)
I love US and Canada to visit, not to live. I can't stand American culture (a generalisation I know, but so is talking about "Israelis"), Canadians are great people but far too cold and indoors for my type of lifestyle. Israel suits me fine. We may have to work a little harder to make ends meet, but we play harder too!
21. Good Luck to the couple.
American Hindu ,   USA   (08.18.13)
Good Luck to them in their new life in Israel. Hope they have a peaceful and successful time.
22. Welcome Home!
Lila ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.19.13)
For nearly 2,000 years it's been the hope and prayer of Jews to return home to Israel. All of you who had only negative, nasty things to say about the Jewish homeland just don't get it. You live in the land of the material, your souls are cut off, but we are blessed to have been granted the privilege and honor by G-d to have come home and live in the Land of Israel, something which you critics do not treasure.
23. @ 16
Sheik Rattle & Roll ,   USA   (08.19.13)
When our $100.00 a month soldiers leave the US Army to start working in Israeli malls selling South Beach sand for $600.00 a week then you can talk, until then keep paying your 100 percent taxes while working for 8000 NIS a month (US Poverty level wage). On another note if the US economy collapses that 3 billion in aid will disappear and your taxes will sky rocket because your government will have to tax it's own citizens instead of relying on the charity of US tax payers or it could get the Chinese, Russians, or the Eurowimps to step in and fill the gap and that is not happening.
24. My wedding was 3 days before the cutoff date
Jacob E ,   Holon, Israel   (08.19.13)
I couldn't enter.... not fun.
25. Re: Sheikh, rattle & roll
Lewis   (08.19.13)
Salary of 8000 shekel a month, paying 100% taxes ? This guy's been out of Israel for too long!!!! Okay, when the greenback collapses, Israel will have to do without 1% of support for its GDP. That is about 1 year's gas revenues. 1 in 4 American kids currently survive on foodstamps. And that;s BEFORE the collapse of the $
26. I am wrong # 25
Sheik rattle & roll ,   USA   (08.19.13)
You don't pay 100 percent taxes on cars and gasoline? Your soldiers don't get compensated a $100.00 a month and there are no more Israeli's working in the malls in the States , they all left for Canada and Australia because the US economy is the worst on the planet and American citizens live in wretched poverty.
27. Re: Sheikh and Roll
lewis ,   Israel   (08.20.13)
Most Israelis working in US have returned home, Those still left over are either: 1 They became very rich (top 1%) during the good times. 2. Are trapped over there with their kids in high school who cannot shift back to a hebrew matriculation. In meantine, the Dept of Homeland security has 3000 tanks and 4 Billion hollow point bullets. Obamas' NDA act means they are seriously preparing for civil unrest when the $ collapses.
