Miron ,   USA   (08.23.13)
things to the brains of politicians in White House. If only people could be rendered immune to radiation...
2. Obama
Belinda ,   Texas, USA   (08.23.13)
Is going to do whatever his Muslim Brotherhood terrorists want him to do. It took him so long to act because he was waiting to be told what to do. World pressure steps up & he wets his pants.
3. Empty suit
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (08.23.13)
Barack "The One" Obama will do exactly nothing.
4. syria / Obama
mo ,   Ireland   (08.23.13)
What do you need Mr. President Sir, another 1000 deaths to proove they used chemical weapons. Whitehall take the hot potato out of your mouth. Mr Holland stop messing around with the ladies. I suggest you get your buttws in gear and help those poor people. The believe that some people were burried alive out of ignorance. Syria allthough Israels enemy still has the heart to have some of those people in various hospitals within Israel. Syrian Army (Assad) backed by Hezballah and Iran which is a known fact and you guys still want proof, which for you means another few thousand deaths and you call yourselves leaders of the world
5. Obama has no choice but to attack
Brad Arnold ,   Mpls, USA   (08.23.13)
Imagine the horrendous implications of any Middle Eastern country being allowed to launch a dozen ground to ground missiles loaded with chemical warheads onto civilian targets without suffering severe retaliation. It is unimaginable - we've got to kick the Syrian regime in the balls or else.
6. Report: Martian Land in New Jersey
Mark of Lewiston ,   USA   (08.23.13)
The Pentagon has contingency plans for war everyplace on the planet. It revises those plans all the time. It would be irresponsible for the Pentagon not to have updated lists of where to bomb and what else it could do. The Pentagon is not irresponsible. Meanwhile, Congress stays on vacation and cannot be bothered. And pundits say that Obama is withdrawing from the region since the US is increasingly energy independent. Maybe Congress will want the US to act and can find the funds. Maybe not.
7. Obama : "Please let me lead the world into more chaos"
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (08.23.13)
That is unless the Russkies sit on their hands and just let them carve out a whole new province (replete with alternative gov't) in Southern Syria stretching from the Jordanian border right to the outskirts of Damascus.
8. 2 & 5 - Not worth US Blood and Treasure
Mark of Lewiston ,   USA   (08.23.13)
Unless you two want significantly higher taxes and are willing to send yourself or your kids, reconsider your desire for another US war. US wars cost real US money and real American lives and maim real American soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines. They are not video games. Nobody has paid a dime towards Iraq or Afghanistan yet except the American service people who bled and died there. It was all on the credit card and remains on the credit card.
9. Hey, folks -- give him time!
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.23.13)
I'm sure Obama will focus on the issues in Syria just as soon as he finishes the back nine ....
10. I am sure Mr Obamas sense will prevail
Brett L ,   JHB South Africa   (08.23.13)
asd he wont bomb his brother mr assad!! Since he has come to power he has done everything to appease the arabs he refuses to call his brothers, which clearly they are!! Will have to wait for the next pressie to get involved. By then i am am sure not more than 100 000 people will have died so no biggie!
11. first try dealing with the russians
zionist forever   (08.23.13)
If Obama starts with this as time goes on the international pressure and eventually the US is going to get dragged into this whole thing and it will cost billions, possibly it will result in some pilots getting shot down and to destroy the chemical weapons sites you need men on the ground. For now the best thing for Obama to do is speak with Russia get them to give lay down the law and give Assad an ultimatum that if he uses chemical weapons support from them ends. Russia stops Assad using chemical weapons and Obama will make an excuse not to get involved militarily and without the US nobody is capable of doing the job because there is just so much involved. Obama just has to listen to his military advisors and not foreign politicians or the humanitarians who are all emotional. The US cannot afford to get dragged into another major war which is what it will be doing if Obama gets involved.
12. The US would be STUPID to attack Syria
spyguy ,   seattle   (08.23.13)
If the US attacks Syria, it will be in direct conflict with Russia and China, neither of which is afraid to go head to head with the US. It would be a tremendous WASTE for American lives and treasure. If the French and Brits want to waste their soldiers and wealth going against Russia (who can cause them to freeze this winter), they should do it, but leave the US out of it. Until the deaths reach 10 million the US should do NOTHING.
13. #12 spyguy
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (08.23.13)
How do you come the the conclusion that BHO is not stupid?
14. US attacking Syria would be
(08.23.13)
good for the US economy, many jobs in the arms industry; Obama has to act - now! Btw, their was a similar situation with Saddam in Iraq and the US war turned out to be a blessing for the people of Iraq. US bombs have saved so many lives. It should be repeated on Syria.
15. To No. 12 SpyGuy
Marian ,   Romania   (08.23.13)
The deaths will reach 10 million only if nato gives more support to the rebels, to enable them to exterminate more Christians, Alawites, moderate Sunnis and other minorities
16. Wasting time on Syria...
ex-frummie ,   Johannesburg S.A.   (08.23.13)
which incidentally will indirectly help al qaeda - which nobody wants, rather the U.S. should be striking facilities in Iran. This is firstly in the US's national interest and secondly what is expected of an ally.
17. The US the police of the world
Rimon   (08.23.13)
Is the US the police of the world, how ironic the situation is, they did that against Iraq without any UNSC approval, they launched a deadly war against Iraq for WMD which later on turned to be totally unfounded , and now they want to stick their nose in Syria just because they are the morality police of the world, that's so pathetic "chemical weapon use" as they claimed in Iraq the US will always claim more such stupidity
18. "B@lls" is the operative word
ASTRONAUT ,   SC, USA   (08.23.13)
To Brad, USA - "balls" is the operative word: while Obama lacks 'em, Hillary packs 'em!
19. The WHO used them. Has to be answered......................
Adi ,   Zurich   (08.23.13)
It is absurd timing that Assad used these at a time when UN inspectors were in Damas.
20. Spyguy is right dumbest idea ever to attack
MILK D ,   East Coast/USA   (08.23.13)
Syria.Russia is not gonna sit idly by and allow it, which is why they have more than a dozen warships off the coast of Syria, and with their most advanced stuff. No more 19 year olds from Iowa or Nebraska should risk their lives and I have three friends whose sons currently are in Afghanistan and cant grow a mustache they are so young...now if those young men come from London or Paris then have at it....let those countries step into the breach like the US soldiers and Marines always have.
21.  DON'T DO IT ,DON'T STRIKE
TEL EM STRAIGHT ,   SAFED OBVIOUS HOUSE   (08.23.13)
A U.S strike will probably make an terrible situation even worse.
22. As with Libya
Matt   (08.23.13)
There is a whole lot of munitions, that require deconstruction or be used. For the DOD it is cheaper to use them via exercises etc, for the economy deconstruction, it is the same monies.
23. Syria strike
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (08.23.13)
Could very well provoke a counter-strike by sleeper cells of al-Qaeda and Hezbollah in the US, waiting for the signal to become activated and attack us internally and very hard. I find it hard to believe that such cells don't exist in the US. I'd hate to see that happen, but hey, we would have provoked it.
24. It takes time to weigh
Nora Tel Aviv   (08.23.13)
specially if you`re called Obama. A week from now the possibility to dedect sarin in body fluids will become nil. Obama knows that and he takes his time. No American life or money will be endengered by Obama.
25. #12 Spyguy
JS ,   USA   (08.23.13)
The US does not factor "fear" into military conflicts as I am sure niether do China or Russia. It does not matter if they are not "afraid to go head to head" with the US. What matters most is that they can not. And would lose. And they know it. No country on the planet has the resources that the US has. In every aspect.
26. # 23 You would love to see it happen...
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (08.23.13)
then at least once in your miserable life you could say you were right.
27. US weighs response
Syd Chaden ,   Palermo Calif USA   (08.23.13)
The Obama Administration is undoubtedly trying to choose between two possible responses. One is to condemn Israeli settlements. The other is to declare that Islam is the religion of love. Reports are that the Cabinet is divided. Therefore, they probably will do both.
