only, and that is in order to collect their annual $$ handouts from baba Oblabla
2. Palestinians
Mordechai ,   Beit Shemesh   (08.24.13)
The time has come for them to accept they lost the war and they have to a accept the terms we set them. they don't like it let them take it to international arbitration, they have no chance of winning, two simple and basic points, a) the green line was not a border but an armistice line and as Lord Caradon repeatedly said the word "the" was specific left out because of that, b) there is no such thing as occupied Palestinian territories, they are purely occupied territories, which Jordan and Egypt are responsible for as the last legal entities in control of these territories.

What does Israel get out of their share of the prize, a lolipop? 3.5 billion dollars seems like a nice little package they can weasel out of the American tax payer for a first world country. By the way a lot of that money that goes to the Palestinians goes to their security forces so the Israelis don't have to do occupation duty. In other words the Israelis contract the occupation using Palestinians and paying them with money provided by the American tax payer. Not a bad deal for the Israelis, they get their pie and they get to eat it too.

David ,   On this planet   (08.24.13)
You don't like Israelis, Why do you hang around here.I guess you like your daily whipping from Jewish boys, don't you!!
5. State less Arabs don't like the nature of negotiations
Yael Schlichting ,   currently Munich   (08.24.13)
Of course you can enter talks with maximum demands, but no demand goes out as it went in. There will be no 100% success for any of the participants. The stateless Arabs nurture the impression, that they rather prefer nothing over any compromise.
6. Despite all the decoration, the conflict at hand will not be
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (08.24.13)
resovled so long as the Muslim-Arabs refuse, categorically, to: 1. Accept Israel's RIGHT to be, to exist as the SOVEREIGN NATION-STATE OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE 2. Accept a peace treaty as the END OF THE CONFLICT 3. Accept a peace treaty as the END OF ALL FUTURE DEMANDS And, unless the conflict is resolved based on the fundamental elements of international law related to resolving it, i.e. San Remo conference decisions, 1920; League of Nations decisions, 1922; and, UN Charter, article 80, 1945. And, all this through the use of UN Security Council Resolution, 242, 1967.

8. Peace chances low?!!!
Gregg Bowman ,   Parksville, Canada   (08.24.13)
Wow, that is really enlightening since you do not want peace in the first place...have your IQ checked and I am sure that you will find that there is nothing upstairs......warm regards, Gregg Bowman

I thought Jordan gave up all rights to the West Bank to the Palestinians? You seemed to omitt that little gem of information to make your point. Yes Israel did beat down the Palestinians but do you actually want them to get a raw deal and let them go home unhappy? Seems the Germans felt they got a raw deal after WW1 and used that to motivate their people into getting revenge in WW2. If Israel is smart they will let the Palestinians get a package they can bring home to their people and there will be no resentment all around. Israel got 78% of the then British Mandate, 20% more then they got from the partition of 1948 when they were only 33% of the population. Making the Palestinain bitter does not make for good neighbors in the end.
10. I wonder how can anyone be pessimistic about the Piss-talks,
tom ,   tel aviv   (08.24.13)
especially now, that the Winds of Change are blowing through the democracy-starved, peace- loving, Arab world? If not now (get rid of more Israeli soil) then when? Ask any of our Left-wing, Useful Idiots.
11. #3 "a lot of that money that goes to the Palestinians
A ,   Belgium   (08.24.13)
to their security forces" B.S.! It goes into the pockets of their corrupt leadership, as soon as the US threatened to cut off their funding, they immediatly started crying about how they were on the verge of bankruptcy. Israel, on the other hand, shares technological advancements with the US. "Palestinian" security forces are responsible for policing "their" areas, even though they are hardly anything more than terrorists in police uniforms. But you folks just keep pumping money to the "palestinians" and Egypt and Jordan and see what kind of return you get on your "investment".
12. P.S. to # 6
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (08.24.13)
A simple gesture of good will that the Arabs can make, since to date they haven't made a single such gesture or tangible concession, is stating, in public, their acceptance of Israel's RIGHT to be, to exist as the SOVEREIGN NATION-STATE OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE. Such a gesture would be rooted in the Jewish people's historic/natural, ethical and legal RIGHT, of course. And, if the Arabs can't accept the historic/natural, ethical and legal foundation of Israel's existence, what else is there left to talk about but the management of the situation in the best possible way under the Sept. 1995 Interim Agreement? Yet, they continue to refuse..., and the message is loud and clear to many of us, Jews, within and without our nation-state of Israel...!!
13. "Full faith?"
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.24.13)
Really? Where is the acknowledgement that the State of Israel is a Jewish state? Where is the acknowledgement that Jerusalem is the eternal UNDIVIDED capital of the Jewish State? Please. Reality check time. When the entirety of Jerusalem was restored to the Jewish people, what the State of Israel found was a horribly desecrated city with respect to Jewish and Christian holy sites, and an ugly blue, poorly maintained mosque that no one ever bothered to visit. Is it necessary for me to recount how the Western Wall was used as a garbage dump? Is it necessary for me to point to the Jordanian mortar shells that were found in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Church of the Dormition? Must I remind everyone that tombstones from the Mount of Olives were used to pave Jordanian latrines? I have a great idea. The ersatz "Palestinians" can truck on over to Jordan, and they can take their ugly blue monstrosity with them. Seems fair. We know EXACTLY how much they "cared" about Jerusalem prior to June 1967. Which is to say ..... not at all. It was Israel that lovingly restored all the sites holy to Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The Moslems never did a single fricken' thing. Neither, for that matter, did the Christians. It's the Jews who care. It's only EVER been the Jewish people who demonstrate respect for faux religions who use Jerusalem as a battle mantra. Jerusalem has been restored to its rightful owners. That will NEVER change.
14. Why resolve the conflict? "Palestine Ltd." has been
JBI   (08.24.13)
the best, most successful business in town!
15. There is no "Palestinian" F.M. Palestine is fictional.
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.24.13)
Rivad al-Malki may rank high in the terrorist P.A. But Palestine is forever fictional. There is no "Palestinian" F.M. There are simply a group of terrorists lead by Holocaust Denying mass murderer Abbas.
16. #9 Jordan gave up all rights to the "West Bank" period.
A ,   Belgium   (08.24.13)
Abdallahs daddy Hussein dropped the entire pile of sh*t into Israels' lap and said..."here, YOU deal with them!" (Basically, the same thing Sadat did with Gaza) That is why almost all "palestinians" retain Jordainian citizenship, and that is where they belong. Who cares if the "palestinians" are unhappy? What have they given the world besides terror? Are the "happy" Syrians, Egyptians, Jordanians, and Lebanese "good neighbors"? I can only wish such neighbors on you. And don't forget, Germany still had an industrial infrastructure after WW1 that they could revive and develop, the "palestinians" have no infrastucture because there is no "palestine". So why don't you sit down, pop a Bud, and watch some NASCAR... we've experienced enough of your igonorance for today.

Non-Jew ,   England   (08.24.13)
But Israel did not get "78% of Palestine"at all: mandatory Palestine stretched right across as far as the current Iraqi border (and even a little bit of current Iraq). Around 78% of it was given to the Hashemite King Abdullah (as Transjordan, later renamed Jordan) in 1946, in return for his help to the Allies in defeating the Ottomans during WW1. (Oh, and FYI, 80% of the population of Jordan, including its future King, are actually Palestinians). So after that, only 22% of mandate Palestine actually remained to the west of the Jordan river. The 'partition plan' was only ever just that: a plan or proposal. In order for it to become legal, it had to be accepted by both Arabs and Jews, and then ratified by the UN. The Arabs rejected it , so the proposed divisions were never made legal, and in rejecting it, the Arabs of the remaining 22% of Palestine (cis-jordan) effectively rejected exclusive rights to any of that region. When the UN voted for the state of Israel to be created in 1948, no subdivisions of Cis-Jordan were stipulated. Jordan broke its legal western border (the Jordan river) during the War of Independence (1948) and invaded the West Bank as an aggressor, meaning its 19-year presence in the WB between 1948 and 1967 was legally an occupation. Only 2 countries ever agreed otherwise (one of them, I'm ashamed to say, was Britain). Since Jordan has now given up its claim to this area anyway, the legal ownership of the WB is certainly open to debate, but Israel has as good, if not better, claim to it as any other body of people.
18. Negotiations for PA is all BS
Rozie   (08.24.13)
If there PA would like to achieve pieve they would negoiate under any conditions --that is the definition of negotiations. The PA wants to continue the status quo. That allows them to received big $$$$, steal more $$$$ and put into their pockets, to blame Israel for all problems, make their people hate even more. they are disgusting and I hope the world can see that they don't want the situation to change.
19. it doesn't matter!
Ilan ,   Toronto,Ontario   (08.24.13)
Both sides know that negotiations will break down as soon the part about Jerusalem come up! kerry blackmailed both sides with money, and we're both just taking it! The settlement shouldn't matter, cause the palis can negotiate for those territories for a future palistine. unfortunately the racist palastinians refuse to allow jews to live in a future palastine, while the hypocrites call us an apartheid state with all the muslims we have living in Israel, with FULL rights and privileges!
20. Peace Low Globally
Zechariah   (08.24.13)
Conflicts are innate in human history the Palestinians need to be satisfied with Autonomy.Do you think the Poor amongst the Jews in Israel are doing well. And the mentally ill and Disabled. The Weapons are so potentially destructive into the future and there are so many powerful greedy egoistic and brutal forces its hard to say whether even living in the area is safe.
21. The territory located between the Jordan River and the
JBI   (08.24.13)
Arabian desert, now called Jordan, consists of 77% of Palestine/Eretz Israel and it is this territory that was handed over to the Arabs where they may exercise their ethical right of national self-determination and independence. The Arabs took the area and exercised their right, and then demanded that the territory located between the Jordan River and the Med. Sea, only 23% of Palestine/Eretz Israel, be given to them as well. But, the latter was assigned to be "the national home for the Jewish people", as etched in international law, i.e. League of Nations decisions, 1922; and, UN charter, article 80, 1945. The Arabs ought to respect international law and live by it, if for no other reason but for the sake of peace.
22. #2. Why should Israel talk to "Palestinians"?
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.24.13)
Every time Israel "talks peace with Palestinians" thousands of Israelis end up maimed and murdered. Oslo alone cost Israel more than 1,000 murdered and more than 14,000 maimed. Moreover, the purpose of these talks is to turn Israel into a 9 mile wide concentration camp. What sane reason does Israel have to talk to "Palestinians"? Unless we talk about their permanent departure from our land.
23. Palestinian-Occupied Israeli Territories
ltrail ,   United States   (08.24.13)
The article said, "We do not have high expectations of the negotiations so far because we know in advance the official position of the Israeli government," foreign minister Riyad al-Malki told reporters .." First of all, the term Palestinian, a coined term, is not the truth. So-called Palestinians are in reality, Jordanians. Jordanians who crossed the Jordan, westward, and illegally took possession of Jewish land. The land west of the Jordan rightfully is the inheritance of the Jewish people in all its glory. Districts of Judea and Samaria are inclusive of that inheritance. What we have here is a people who want to take over someone's house I'm talking about these Jordanians, and claim it's there's. The state of Israel has every right to build settlements everywhere in their existing graphical land. One can easily say we have serious doubts about the so-called Palestinians desire and faith to negotiate. There essential goal, without being verbally said, is the destruction, the elimination, of the Jewish content of Israel. No, Foreign Minister al-Malki, we in the world do not buy into your lack of truth.
24. What rights!
Zyx ,   USA   (08.24.13)
It was quite easy for Joprdan to give up their so-called rights on the West bank since Jordanians never had any rights on this territory. According to UN resolution 181 passed in 1947, the sol called "palestine" was to be divided between a Jewish state and an Arab state but this Arab state was not Jordan. In reality this should not make any difference. Jordanians and the so-called "palestinians" are the same people.
25. #3 Fred: Arik Sharon was for stopping US Aid!
David ,   The Galilee, Israel   (08.24.13)
A pity we didn't do it. Never forget Fred that the USA wants a return for is money and that is making Israel toe the line and not upset its Arab allies! Israel is worth more than $3 billion a year LESS deductions for being bad to the terrorists. The US would be a lot better off using that money to fight terrorism at HOME and to get the FBI, INS and Homeland Security to play in the same sand pit so people like the Boston Bombers, Major Nidal Hassan and their friends don't become US Citizens, serve in the military and kill folks in the USA! Oh, and don't forget the Hi Tech goodies that the US gets from our geek folk here in the Holyland! Yes, the Palestinans do get money and use it to teach hatred and murder instaed of build their country so that their people could live decently!
26. Settlements are quite legal according to international law.

solomon ,   bklyn   (08.24.13)
Israel battle-tests our equipment, I'm sorry to say. They share improvements with us. They share intelligence of the area that it is impossible for us to get. Israel has trained our forces in house to house combat for ME terrain and construction. The money is spent in the US, providing jobs. Not a bad investment...unless you close your eyes.
28. #2 Fred & FM both correct. Israel
Jim ,   USA   (08.24.13)
gets closer to 4 billion per year and still WHINES about having to spend a small portion on American made arms. How can Palestine have constructive talks with a country that declares every year that any promise, vows oaths are null and void (see Kol Nidre)
29. The pot calling the kettle black.
solomon ,   bklyn   (08.24.13)
30. How can hopes be high when......
Dee Bee ,   Israel   (08.24.13)
the Palestinians DON'T want peace. Peace is not in their interests. If there is peace, then won't be able to blame Israel and the Jews (they don't mention Israel in their schools only the Jews) for all their shortcomings!
