1. When does "edging towards the bomb" becomes "The Bomb"?
tom ,   tel aviv   (09.03.13)
2. If Iran gets the Bomb -
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (09.03.13)
- Iran will not hesitate to come for Israel !. Then comes the Question - " Whom will stop Iran in its coming for Israel " ?. Surely not anyone in the Middle-east. No-One in the Middle-east has the Conventional Capacity for to do it. Arn.Sweden.
3. Oh Please shut up.......
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (09.03.13)
I recall Meir Dagan stating that an Iranian bomb is not the greatest concern for Israel's security issues. He stated that he believed the Iranians were rational in their own way despite the outward threats they make. Let us remember the ruses and manipulations of both the Americans and the Saudis that prefer we entangle ourselves in a suicidal self destructive war in which they come out on top. We should let them slip on their own banana peal. Basically we need to tell the Saudis not to expect us to ignite the war for them. We need to tell the American administartion that is a disgrace and a serious mess and that they can shove it where the sun don't shine.. Protect your petrodollar agreement with the Saudis on your own God damn you, leave us out of it.. Israel needs to be smart. Bibi do not let us get manipulated by the bastards.
4. Yaron London article
David BlangaHerzelia   (09.03.13)
I appreciate very much the writer Thoughts However after reading the last article In the Economist regarding Syria I might be willing to ask him if he has read it and eventually receive his Feedback With due respect
5. The events of last week ...
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.03.13)
... lead to one inescapable conclusion. The current occupant in the White House has done nothing but lie to Israel and bully the State of Israel. Moreover, Jews should be through with allowing our safety -- and our very existence -- to be in anyone else's hands. No one else is to be trusted, least of all Hussein Obama. The time has come to deal with Iran in a meaningful fashion. We don't need the United States. And if Iran chooses to retaliate by attacking an American asset -- well, that would be an American problem; not an Israeli one.
6. Obama.Words. Paris Hilton is more sincere
Adi ,   Zurich   (09.03.13)
Obama.Words. Paris Hilton is more sincere
7. Syrian use of chemical weapons in order to mass murder....
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (09.03.13)
...civilians and the US reaction to it has two important points on which we must focus: 1. Morally, the entire world, not only the US, ought to see to it that Syrai is punished for such anti-humanitarian and illegal acts. 2. The US drew a line in the sand, and unless it stands by it, both friend and foe of the US, worldwide, will judge America. And, if America still wishes to ensure its interests around the world, it better show self-respect to the lines in the sand that its President drew. This is NOT an Israel issue, although some, whoever they may be..... attempt to make it such, as it is easy to blame the Jews, again, for any predicament faced by society. This is, once again, an international issue and an American one.
8. Pardon our hesitation for yet another plunge into the ME
Cameron ,   USA   (09.03.13)
9. waiting and waiting
(09.03.13)
For years, Yaron London has been harping on the need to surrender Golan to Assad. He assured his audience that Israel is preventing peace by refusing to surrender, and how the US would protect Israeli interests after such a surrender. Where is London's admission that he was completely and abysmally wrong? Where is London's apology to those he mocked, people who are less witty but proven by reality to be far smarter? And why doesn't he take his correct and logical analysis one step further: the only way to guarantee Jewish survival is to make sure that the Israeli population can shelter in the hills of Judea and Samaria.
10. 5000 dead soldiers in useless meaningless wars in ME
miki ,   tampa   (09.03.13)
Do you really think Obama wants to l add another thousand or two?
11. Nobody can seriously believe US will stop Iran
Shachar ,   Eilat   (09.03.13)
When chemical weapons are sprayed all over Syria's capital and everyone umms and arrrrs, can you seriously believe they will stop a clandestine nuclear program ??? Syria is a walk in the park compared to the problems of taking on Iran...and all on the back of some intelligence estimates. Iran is already nuclear but needs a self-produced stockpile to get immunity. And it's strolling towards this goal unchallenged. Bibi or Obama are going to stop them? Don't make me laugh.
12. Nr.2. Further -
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (09.03.13)
- Why wait to the wery last moment, before to strike Iran ? Then you have given Iran a decade to prepere Herself for the Strike and, She also know when it will come - " As a last Option and at last Time " !. This is the Chamberlaining Foolishnes of Obama at the best, considering a comparizon of the Cost for The Strike, Now and Five Years back. Arn.Sweden.
13. #2 Arn.
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (09.03.13)
Iran does not want to attack Israel (at least not in the first place). Iran wants to create a new Persian Empire that comprises all the oil countries in the ME. After that, most of the world is at their will.
14. #5 Sarah B
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (09.03.13)
And what do mean by a "meaningful fashion"? Unless you want to carry out a preemptive nuclear strike, there is little you can do against Iran.
15. Ominous
michael Pielet ,   israel   (09.03.13)
The situation is ominous for israel. Obama is not going to attack Iran, Obama cannot even attack Syria. How can he attack Iran. Israel, Jews, as always you are on your own. Before and during WW2, europe's Jews were waiting for the "great powers" to save them. 6,000,000 Jews are still waiting.
16. To: No. 14
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.03.13)
That is precisely what I am talking about. Iran is the greatest threat to civilization since Nazi Germany. Something about which you doubtless know a great deal. Would a great deal of misery been avoided had Germany been destroyed in 1939? For sure. Do you think the situation with respect to Iran is any different? I don't. I think that destroying Iran completely and totally will, at the end of the day, save lives. You are free to disagree. If a pre-emptive nuclear strike on Iran is what it takes, then so be it. Remember Jeremy Bentham? The greatest good for the greatest number. That renders Iran entirely disposable. The sooner, the better.
17. Beyond America's reluctance to deal with Iran, why should we
JBI ,   Israel   (09.03.13)
Jews, take additional risks to our nation-state of Israel and that part of the Jewish people that dwells in Zion by way of appeasing the White House, in our negotiations with the Arabs of Eretz Israel (Land of Israel), i.e. PLO? Why should we trust the White House to be and/or do, anything, when it can't even deliver on its own pronounced convictions, let alone the convictions of others?
18. #13 so you are saying
(09.03.13)
That money goes to Iran and not to the Arabs and their Anglo-American friends. Considering what the Arab world has contributed to the world in the field of human rights, peace, democracy, innovation, it seems every rational person should support Iran.
19. Nr. 13 .Irans agenda is Religious !.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (09.03.13)
To so called - Liberate Jerusalem-. is their first Goal. Then to Rise up the Rule of their religious Messajah - Al.Mahdi, for to Rule the Whole World. The World Willbe almost at the Will of their - Al-Mahdi - Read Jesajah chapter 14 and you can se what character it is. The Al-Mahdi will rise in Irak, and take over the Whole of the Middleast as the King of the North, Daniel chapter 11 vers 21 to the end of the chapter. Arn.Sweden.
20. History to write. Obama. Failure. He allowed Iran the bomb
Adi ,   Zurich   (09.03.13)
History to write. Obama. Failure. He allowed Iran the bomb
21. Survival of the fittest.
John Prophet   (09.03.13)
What will history write about israel and its leadership who wanted peace so bad it was willing to carve itself into a small slice giving the rest of itself to its sworn enemies; while the same enemy was arming itself to the teeth as it surrounded Israel? Who should be held accountable for the gross abdication of responsibily toward the people of Israel? Survival of the fittest a Darwinian concept is as true for societies as it is for species. History well may see Israel go the way of the Dodo bird while thinking, they weren’t as bright as we thought they were.
22. #16 and threats to civilisation
RHarris ,   London   (09.03.13)
Actually the greatest threat to civilisation is loud-mouthed bigots like the author of #16 who appears to squirm with sensual delight whenever she even things of sending bombs to iran. The writer is so gung-ho about bombing Iran that all rational thought appears to have disappeared from her brain. Have you ever tried to work out what is the source of your Iran-hatred? I don't mean your hatred of Iran's leaders, but your obvious, repeated, vehemently stated desire to see one of the greatest cultures in the world reduced to dust. Particularly now with a new leader in power in Iran, it would appear obvious to anyone with the intelligence of a retarded cockroach that talking and negotiating is the best way forward. I mean that if we use your logic, the Palestinians should not negotiate with the Israeli government, which, God knows, has used every delaying tactic known to humanity. Why shouldn't the Palestinians just take your line of logic and say 'what's the point of talking' bomb them to smithereens. Naturally, if there should be war in Israel, the author of #16 would be sheltering in the USA, where it is so easy to pick up the martial and murderous ideology of the wild west movies and believe that it will also apply in the Middle East. The women is in great need of help.
23. Obama is likely on Iran's side.
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.03.13)
The best that could be said of Obama is that he is utterly worthless. However, it appears increasingly likely that he is on Iran's side. Both against Israel and America.
24. is America Am Reika?
larry ,   LA   (09.03.13)
when I first came to Israel in '68 I used to hear many Israelis telling me, oh you from America, Am Reika! ha ha they laughed and I did not like it. But recently I am beginning to believe that America is indeed Am Reika, a people (Am) that are reika (empty headed)! Such stupidity in foreign affairs is not flattering to a major power. I could understand Belgum or Kenya being wishy washy in making a major decision, but first Obama says that he alone will decide and later he decides that congress will decide meaning he is passing the buck. a low level has been reached by such a (former?) major power is repulsive.
25. GOOD MORNING ISRAELI LEADERS
les ,   canada   (09.03.13)
wake wake. this president would not lift a finger to help israel in need. and once the usa becomes self sufficient of oil, the middle east will be just a bad dream for them. no giving up land, no "two state solution", and no negotiations with someone wants to murder you.
26. Hussien cannot be trusted
Brod ,   USA   (09.03.13)
It is a fact. Hussien the Islamist cannot be trusted by America and Israel. He is aligned with the wrong horse. His name alone tells who he is. He appoints an Islamist to be the CIA Director. This is an abomination to Judeo-Christian America. America should never again elect a Trojan Horse. Congress should wake up and impeach him for destroying America's economy and inflaming the Middle East with his idiocy of reviving the Muslim Brotherhood that is the father of Islamist-Jihadist terrorism around the world, and for destroying Christian Churches in Egypt, Nigeria, Indonesia, the Middle East, etc.
27. You are truly trapped by reality & circumstance
Cameron ,   USA   (09.03.13)
Your resources and abilities are insufficient to meet or alter the Persian issue. Without any other feasible option, Israel will, by sheer necessity, wait upon the final decision and approach of the Americans.
28. #27. Israel can do amazing things when "isolated".
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.03.13)
#27 Cameron. You drastically underestimate Israel. Israel can do amazing things when she is "isolated" and unworried about what the world thinks. Such as the War of Independence, The Six Days War, Entebbe, the destruction of our enemies' nuclear bomb factories and on and on... Israel is fully capable of dealing with Iran's genocidal Mad Mullahs.
