1. Impeach Obama now!!
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (09.08.13)
"On this basis, the president made it clear to them that there comes a moment in the life of a public figure in which he must make a decision according to his conscience and understanding". In other words go against the will of your constituents. Fall on your sword like I am for my banker sponsors. Don't worry about re-election we garontee you will be rich after all of of this.
2. Bibi = Erev Rav
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (09.08.13)
Worthless, spineless, peacock fool. You and AIPAC are destroying yourselves. The Dollar will begin to die openly in October. It will rise sharply and then have a fatal heart attack. You fools will be blamed. Obama will use the war as the excuse and he will blame the Jews. He will blame AIPAC to save his ass and he will blame you, Bibi. You are worthless and foolish.
3. syrian civil war is not israel's business
marv   (09.08.13)
unless chemical weapons are transferred to nasrollah, syrian civil war is none of israel'sbusiness. Bibi should shut up and not get involved. he cannot seem to help begging obama for support in return for which he does obama's bidding. What a weaklling without a clue of his own independence.
4. Bad Idea
Ron ,   oc us   (09.09.13)
Bibi by going public with his support of a US strike will do little more than alienate the American public. The cause is dubious as I don't think there is a power on earth that can keep Arabs from killing each other. Best the US and Israel let the Arabs fight it out. Save their powder for Iran.
5. Dumb just plain Dumb
Bill Stein ,   USA   (09.09.13)
The only targets I would support a US attack are the chemical stockpiles missiles and rockets to keep both sides from getting or using those stockpiles. Israel should not get involved in lobbying this we Jews will be the blame if this goes wrong
6. This "report" remains unconfirmed.
Jake   (09.09.13)
The PM office refused to confirm these reports, and there is no evidence to support it. The official policy of Israel remains one of non-interference regarding Syria. If Ynet has a quote from Bibi to prove otherwise, then declare it, if not it remains a tabloid.
7. Why is the PM sticking his neck out for Obama?
Steve Klein   (09.09.13)
Attila Somfalvi wrote: "There were those in the government who expressed concern that Obama's stance and hesitancy would send a problematic message to Iran." Is this strike about Iran's nuclear program? What makes Israel's leaders think Obama will do anything about Iran since he has sent envoy after envoy to Israel trying to talk the Israelis out of acting on their own against Iran's nuclear sites? Chuck Hagel let it slip in his confirmation hearings, the Obama administration policy on Iran is "containment." Was it a slip of the tongue? Given Obama's record in Libya -- he supported al-Qaeda affiliated groups which toppled the more secular-leaning Muammar Gaddafi; in Egypt Obama supported the "the Jews are the sons of Apes and pigs," Muhamed Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood Islamic supremacists? Now Obama supports al-Qaeda, Muslim Brotherhood, Salafist rebels in Syria. How can Obama be trusted?
8. Mr PM Your son is not on the front lines, mine is
Al   (09.09.13)
I just got a call from the mother who hadn't heard from him in a month. He told of very little food for Rosh Hashanah and a general feeling of waiting and waiting. These soldiers who are ready to sacrifice all for the state don't have the backing of their political commanders. Why? Because the political talking heads are too busy pinning for the cameras wanting to be heard. Syria will be lobbing bombs on our troops including chemical weapons. You can be sure of that. MR PM you son is not on the front lines. mine is and I am damned by your abject stupidity. Shut the hell up! This is not our war.
9. Aipac
Mike L ,   Seminole, USA   (09.09.13)
This is actually sad news, Aipac should have stayed on the sidelines for this one. They gain absolutely nothing for Israel by supporting Obama's war, the American people don't want it, and they've made that abundantly clear.
10. I cannot tell a lie: I would not attack.
George Washington ,   Washington, DC   (09.09.13)
Syria poses no threat of any kind to the USA. Attacking Syria will cause them to attack Israel, since they can't touch the US. Once missiles start flying from Syria, the jackwads in Hamas and Hezbollah will join in. Instantly Israel has a three front war on their hands- and the USA will not lift a finger against Muslim entities because Obama is still kissing their asses. I say again, an American attack on Syria will result in Israel going to war. This cannot be allowed. Every US representative and senator that votes 'yes' to this idiotic plan will lose their seat in the next election. Americans are fed up with presidents dragging the US into never ending wars against Islamopaths. Let them kill each other if that's their want. It's neither our business nor our responsibility to intervene. Sh-t happens and sometimes the best thing to do is nothing, unfortunately.
11. Attack on Syria=Response of Iran=Attack on Iran
Sam ,   Canada   (09.09.13)
Is this what Netanyahu is thinking?Sounds like a lot of dead people due to the possibility of things escalating. Both US and Israel seem better of without attacking and not having their populations attacked by war or terrorism. This is really an Arab affair not the time to take care of Iranian nukes when Israel's enemies are killing each other.
12. Oh give it a rest with the impeachment bit, Dror #1
Cameron ,   USA   (09.09.13)
As much as I like the thought of Obama making a Roman-style finale, he's locked in solid for the remainder of his term. Time to put that futile wail up on the shelf.
13. Bombing Syria as a tool to create a terror state
Steven ,   San Francisco   (09.09.13)
The two co-conspirators against the Jewish state (Kerry and Abbass) meet while the anti-Israel American president tries to start a new war. Is it not too far fetched to think that they are betting Israel is attacked as a result and as part of the agreement to help Israel (which Israel does not need help by the way), that Israel give up all settlements in Yesha and reach a "peace" agreement with the Arabs? I wouldn't put it past Kerry and Obama is this is their present scheme. "Bibi" is also in on this deception.
14. Bibi is truly dangerous!
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.09.13)
Why would Bibi waste Israel's political capital to help Obama ignore overwhelming American opposition to a war that can't possibly help Israel? Bibi is truly dangerous. His "peace talks with Palestinians" are right out of the lunatic Labor/Meretz playbook. His actions are dumb and incompetent. Bibi is truly dangerous. He must be stopped!
15. Oh yeeeah, THAT's a voice that can be trusted
Gunnar ,   Gothenburg, Sweden   (09.09.13)
In 2003, a couple of months prior to the Iraq war, Bibi Netanyahu said the following: "The toppling of Saddam Hussein will lead to a safer world, a more peaceful and prosperous Middle East, an end to terrorism and it will help the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. Come back in 10 years, and you'll see." I rest my case, your honor....
16. Support for Obama
Clearsighted ,   USA   (09.09.13)
You think Bibi did this voluntarily? You really think Bibi wants the guy who kept the Syrian front quiet for over 30 years to be replaced with the same scum that is firing missiles at Eilat? Unfortunately, this is what happens when you allow your country to become Obama's b*tch!
17. Worst Possible Decision
A Simple Jew ,   Tel Aviv   (09.09.13)
Bibi is going to insure that when this adventure goes sour (as it will) that the Jews will be blamed. If AIPAC lobbies, and the war resolution fails the Congress (which it very likely will), then AIPAC's power is called into question by having a major public relations failure on its record. Has Bibi been paid to take a dive? It sure looks like it, as these dangers are obvious.
18. Get ready to the torrent of anti-Israeli rage
Tom W ,   USA   (09.09.13)
If the current antisemitic wave was not enough then get ready to the outburst of anti-Israeli hate fest in the U.S. Bibi and the Jews lost their mind when going against the overwhelming majority in the world. For no apparent reason. These incomprehensible actions will further erode the shrinking sympathy for Israel in the U.S. You haven't seen nothing yet. Amazing shortsightedness.
19. A Dangerous slope
Jacob Edelman ,   New York,USA   (09.09.13)
People believe that US policy has become subservient to Israeli interests. This article proves that . Why wonder then that people become so suspicious of the United States and when things go wrong point the finger towards Israel !
20. AIPAC had no position on Hegel, supports US attack on Syria?
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (09.09.13)
AIPAC seems to be choosing the wrong battles. There was a case to be made against Hegel for Secretary of Defense, and one that was independent of his attitude toward Israel. But AIPAC chose to sit that one out. Now AIPAC stands ready to hand the haters of Israel ready ammunition. There are untold numbers that insist the US has "gone to war for Israel", when it has not. Now the preeminent pro-Israel lobby is going all out to support a US attack on Syria. And if this action proves a failure - likely given the amateurs putting it together? They can point to the role of AIPAC, Netanyahu, and the "Jewish lobby".
21. Netanyahu's fat mouth
steve ,   meitar Israel   (09.09.13)
Why can't this man just mind his own business on this issue which has no real effect on Israel. It only provides ammunition to Israel's enemies and antisemites that claim Israel and the Jews controls America.
22. Anyone drink the kool-aid?
shmulke ,   w coast usa   (09.09.13)
There are two important groups of people don't want America to attack Syria: the American people and the Israeli people. As a previous poster said, this is NOT our war. Both the combatant factions despise Israel. Why should Israelis or Americans help either side by fighting the other?
23. Protocols
Michael ,   Haifa   (09.09.13)
There is probably some antisemite currently writing a new epic entitled "The Protocols of the Elders of AIPAC". Sometimes it is wise not to be involved.
24. Not smart
Mark ,   Israel   (09.09.13)
Supporting a lame duck with a lame idea is just plain stupid.
25. Why couldn't you just keep your mouth shut???
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (09.09.13)
If something goes wrong with this - and there is likelihood that it will - Israel - and by extension, Jews - will be blamed. I've already been seeing this on the Internet - Twitter; Facebook; blogs; talkbacks. You were smart staying out of this. Why did you have to say something especially now when there is no absolute evidence that Assad was even responsible for the chemical attack!
26. The problem
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.09.13)
Assad may be a monster, but he is a monster that we understand and can live with. If Assad goes, that leaves a void that will likely be filled by radical Islamists. That's been the trend. Syrian intelligentsia has left. That leaves only uneducated and illiterate common scrubs that, in all likelihood, will turn to Islam as their saviour and their beacon of "light." Israel does not need to tie itself cheek by jowl to a pathetic excuse for an American president. He set the "red line" (which, by the way, he claims not to have done). He can clean up his own mess. Israel has had to babysit the United States and clean its dirty diapers on far too many occasions, and for far too long. Israel can look after itself. Anyone else will simply get in the way, And let the bumbler-in-chief in the White House clean up his own messes. For once. Oh, dear. He's made so many. Where, oh where, to begin? I'll tell you where the American people need to begin. Impeachment, that's where. The clown in the White House needs to go.
27. Cameron @12 Irish Heathen Drunkard...
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (09.09.13)
An ode to the Irish drunk leprechaun... "Lucky Charms. They're magically delicious...Pink hearts, yellow moons, orange stars, green clovers." "Hearts, stars, and horseshoes. Clovers and blue moons. Pots of gold and rainbows. And me red balloons. That's me Lucky Charms. They're magically delicious." You bet your lucky charms he is going to get impeached if he goes against the will of the people, of the Congress, and strikes Syria despite all of the opposition.
