1. Why don't you hold your weapons and take Assad to the Hague?
NU? ,   Jerusalem   (09.09.13)
If your evidence is SO SOLID why not do this instead of killing more people?
2. just in, and #1
(09.09.13)
#1 Syria never signed a treaty against Chemical Weapons, so the only one who can be tried in the Hague is Obama. Just in: Obama's troops liberated Maaloula village and then forced the residents to convert to Islam or be beheaded.
3. Why Syria when other countries have committed worse crimes?
Dee Bee ,   The Galilee, Israel   (09.09.13)
The President of Sudan, Omar al-Bashir, is alleged to have committed crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide. The International Criminal Court on March 4, 2009 issued an arrest warrant against Bashir for 7 counts of crimes against humanity and war crimes. Where is Bashir? He is as free as a bird and is treated by African heads of state like an emperor. This is one example of atrocities committed in Africa, a continent that has seen so many massacres and murderous attacks that most have just lost count. So, Mr. Secretary, while we all agree that the Assad regime has carried out horrific acts but certainly not on the scale that we have seen elsewhere, why has the USA turned is rage on Assad instead of others who oppress their people including some of those in the Gulf States? Is it because oil blinds you and the world of atrocities committed by your "friends"?
4.  vice precedent
ky   (09.09.13)
The law is based upon precedent. America previously accused Iraq and said it was certain but was completely wrong. The vice president quotes legal jargon but precedence goes against him. He wants us to go to war but the people are not willing to take his word any more. Can you blame them?
5. Is it just me
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (09.09.13)
Or does Kerry look like he is one of the living dead. He is creepy looking. Must be all of the ghosts of the dead people whose death's he is responsible for haunting him and turning him into a living dead zombie..
6. Encourage the Arabs
Toby   (09.09.13)
Encourage the Arabs to take action on their own. This is not the fight of non-Arab nations. Siding with any of the sects is sheer idiocy, in the long run.
7. Nobody's talkin about US going to war
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (09.09.13)
There's a big difference between some air strikes & an invasion. The U.S. has launched air strikes in the past that did not involve getting dragged into a conflict. Syria will be too afraid to retaliate against the U.S.
8. To No. 5
Bertram ,   London, UK   (09.09.13)
Thanks for such deep political insight. I feel much better informed now.
9. case for action being stymied in muddle
(09.09.13)
Russia and Syria appear to be creating dissonance and doubt for action and reactivating the UN indecision as a means of stymie-ing any effective deterrence against use of chemical weapons by rogue regimes and terrorist groups. Each day that goes by the pretence of peaceful resolution advocated by Russia others and by assad through UN or other auspices grows realistically more remote. The average Joe Bloggs doesn't see the need to stand up to rogue regimes multiplying the probability of the need to confront use of evil weapons of mass destruction in the future.
10. #5 Dror attacks the personality not the point
Janice ,   NY   (09.09.13)
I guess when you have nothing better else to say or an idea of your own ( ha ha) all you can do is attack the personality. Seeing as you are so wise , experienced, knowledgable and have all the answers will you be running for President ?
11. Jance
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (09.09.13)
Look up Charlotte Izzerby and Skull and Bones. Prepare to vomit. Kerry is highest level Skull and Bones.
