Russian proposal is a positive signed in order to resolve the Syrian crisis, except that the Syrian government will completely surrender the biological weapons including President Asad step down from power. International politics is not all about power and prestige. Naturally, the U.S. could inflict great damage on Syria and even topple Assad. But it would be a very costly affair with many casualties. Putin came up with a wise proposal which Assad is accepting, to everyone's surprise. So, Obama will join the crowd and stay on the sidelines as the civil war plays itself out in Syria. This civil war would have continued no matter what the U.S. would have done and Obama's flexibility is to be praised. International politics is about being creative and about recognizing what is good for the world as peace is attained.
